What a good surprise. We booked for two nights in this guest house. The owner is very friendly and helpful. He does everything to make your stay unforgettable : toys and sledges loaned to children, acces to the frozen lake, good breakfast. You just have to know that the sauna is not open in Winter time and they only serve breakfast (but there is a well-equipped kitchen)
Lovely atmosphere, at least in summer. Farm animals around. In the new house the rooms are nice and cosy. Breakfast somewhat basic yet enough. Staff/owners friendly, yet busy in the high season. Would visit again if in the neighbourhood.
Idyllic, farmhouse-like B&B with friendly keepers and animals on site. Very child friendly, super clean and cozy rooms. Small walk to sauna and beach. Basic breakfast. Buy the food bag for the reindeers, and get some for therapy While you’re here. :) The only minus is the lack of something to eat. Make a pit stop at ABC Ähtäri on your way because the small kitchen area and the bonfire/grill areas are in your use.
Don't expect a hotel and you'll be fine. You'll get a taste of Finnish country-side, with some farm animals and pets around the house. Staff is friendly, and if you haven't experienced the sauna by lake or deer spotting before, it is probably worth it..
This place is as good for children as they come. One cannot ask for more toys. There are toys outside and inside in a cosy playroom. We did not have a cottage of our own but the room was OK. Breakfast is good and Ähtäri Zoo is nearby. There is a sauna and a good beach. The restaurant is only open when pre-booked and the nearest restaurant is a bit far away. As I have a bad back the beds were a bit too hard for my liking. Otherwise we loved this place.
