Old hotel, quite nice location, our room costs 170euros, and that was normal room, where was extra-bed for kids (small sofa) I know this hotel since 1980 century, and i think rooms was same condition, exp new bath... If You really wan lakewiew experience, ask room for 1.st floor Staff was good, breakfast basic, parking free.
The bad: - You can smell the mold in hallways. - Spider webs in hotel rooms. - Rooms in bad shape, need renovation. - The absolute worst thing was the restaurant. Overpriced and terrible. Pasta I ordered was cold and the dessert was horrible. We ordered cheesecake with strawberry-rhubarb compote. Compote was really just cheap strawberry jam mixed with boiled rhubarb. The cheesecake was more like a pancake that's been left in the fridge for a week. Looked and tasted like one too. The good: - Breakfast was ok.
Definitely not worth of money. Cleaning was terrible. Room had spider webs for example. Rooms are very worn. Needs immediate renovation. Staff is friendly. Food in restaurant is sufficient. Nature is beautiful nearby. Location definitely deserves better hotel.
Me and my mom had lunch, which was very bad. Bland, no flavours , no colours, (we had pasta and vegan ”steak”) and the portions were very small. It cost almost 15 euros per person, and we were very disappointed.
We arrived at the hotel early to check into our room before 3pm, which was the check-in time in our hotel reservation. Staff at reception then informed us that they had different summer check-in times changed from 3pm to 4pm. This was not emailed or notified in anyway to us before getting to the hotel (which was a 4 hour drive). So they asked us to wait for an extra hour and a half for our room and sent us looking for the dog park which we never found (and still don’t know where it is).. we got frustrated after 30min roaming around and asking twice for the dog park - there were no signs, information or even clear parking lot markings. We went back to the hotel reception to clear the situation and they promised us our room for 3pm, which was very nice and the first positive experience related to the hotel. In the meantime we went to lunch at the hotel restaurant which unfortunately caused us the next huge disappointment.. we ordered the meat and fish of the day and small meat portion for our 2-year-old kid. Meat dish was ”ala-arvoinen” as we’d say in Finnish and the fish was dry. Long story short: price-quality for the lunch is really bad, cannot recommend. Next we went to check-in to our hotel room. As hotel is advertising itself as a 4-star resort in their website, leaning to this vision we head downhill away from prying eyes to a hidden Soviet-style bunker straight from the 70’s. Room was clean, but the bed (or two beds attached) were so uncomfortable I had back pain the next morning. We are not sure if the sheets were even changed based on the constant scratching. Thank God the shower and toilet were working properly. Fortunately the Ähtäri zoo right next to the hotel (and especially the pandas) saved our day. Also there was a very nice breakfast buffet which kind of saved the horror of the lunch we had there.…
