We stayed four nights, in two different rooms in the 1661 Inn itself (not in one of the guest houses). At the time we made our reservation, there wasn't the room size we needed available for four consecutive nights, but it wasn't a big deal--the staff even moved our bags to the new room while we were out for the... We had the opportunity to stay in the Arthur Rose room, which was stunning! We were able to take advantage of a last-minute cancellation and had a Mother & Daughter getaway on Friday, August 19th. Such a beautiful room with meadow and ocean views, king-size bed and sofabed, beach stone fireplace, gorgeous bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and TWO rainforest showers!... More

This is our 2nd year visiting Block Island and staying at the 1661 inn. Once again it did not disappoint. The rooms are immaculate and the staff is top notch. They are very friendly and extremely accommodating. The breakfast is outstanding.

We were very lucky to get a room last minute. Our room was in the annex (?), so it was quite small but serviceable. There were two shared bathrooms which were very clean and not in high demand. The rate included a buffet breakfast which was excellent and enhanced by the ocean views and the attentive server. The location is... More

We only stayed one night at the Inn (Most places insisted on a two night minimum which we could not do). It was lovely, room was neat and clean. We were surprised by the complementary afternoon appetizers and wine which was perfect sitting on that beautiful patio with the view of the ocean. We loved the breakfast which was also... More

Rita couldn't have been more hospitable Every time we asked for something from her staff she jumped in to make sure we were satisfied. Rooms were clean and quaint. My friend had the Adrian Mitchell room which was like having a small home on the beach. Great space. Would highly recommend

We've enjoyed our first visit to Block Island more than words can describe, but what made it most wonderful was all of the special touches your hotel provides. The Dodge Cottage was comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The breakfast and wine and cheese nibbles with the ocean view were magical. The servers at breakfast were kind and helpful. The young man... Beautiful location. You can sit outside overlooking the water and enjoy the extensive buffet breakfast, which includes made-to-order omelets and a mimosa bar! They have eggs, fresh fruit, ham or bacon, home fries, fresh baked pastries, lox, and a wide variety of breads (including gluten free). All for about $22 a person. Did I mention unlimited mimosas? One of the... More

I had a really great stay here for a friend's trip recently. We were in one of the cottages and the rooms we had were all so incredibly spacious. They also all had these massive bathub/hotubs inside. The property is simply gorgeous and the views are so peaceful and calm. Everyday around 4 they had wine and snacks available for... More

My husband and I stay at the 1661 house every Summer for a long weekend. (Arthur Room is wonderful) This particular stay was cut short by a family emergency and we had to leave. (My son is fine!) Rita and her staff were so understanding and helpful to us!! They are so kind there and our stay is always wonderful!!
