Our first meal out since lockdown. Booking online worked well . We had a lovely waitress Georgia who made sure everything went smoothly . Maintaining social distancing and explaining their management system cheerfully and efficiently . The meal was served by the chefs and the tables were comfortably spaced . In fact the new system and spacing made the whole experience so much nicer than in the past . The food was tasty and hot . And with 50% off main courses a very fair price for the evening. Thanks Georgia for giving us a lovely evening out.
Great Sunday evening carvery with family. Great selection of meats. Turkey, pork, beef gammon and lamb and all beautifully fresh. Good atmosphere and wonderful service from Georgia. Will be returning soon.
Up to a few months ago we were regular visits to the Waterside for their £6.99 mid-week Toby Carvery. However, over the past few months the restaurant has really dropped its standards in our view. At one time you couldn’t fault the place but now it has become tired and untidy. The area around the food bay isn’t kept tidy and the general condition of the restaurant is dusty and could do with a really good ‘spring clean’. The ‘whites’ worn by the chefs now look untidy and have seen better days. Some of the food on display looks burnt and overcooked. The serving spoons are too hot to hold but unfortunately the food itself is at best lukewarm. The past two times we have visited there we needed to ask the staff to warm up our food in the microwave! Sorry, but that’s just unacceptable for me. There just doesn’t appear to be anyone in charge there now, keeping on top of things and sorting out problems and ‘good housekeeping’. We won’t be going back there until things improve. On the ‘plus side’ the staff members are still really helpful and friendly but sadly the food lets the place down now and that’s a real shame!…
We went here for a business meeting and had drinks in the bar. Staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful bringing the hot drinks over to our table. Two of us then stayed for lunch. A carvery. Food was ok but what really impressed us was two ladies who had served us. The one behind the bar and the one in the restaurant. They were friendly, helpful and smiley and just gave excellent service so the three stars really are for them as they made it. We did like how dogs were allowed into the bar. This was lovely to see and the lady behind the bar knew the dogs names and made them welcome too. Good choice on staff.
We went here after a dissapointment with a hotel in Blackpool, they are miles apart in mileage and hotels, the hotel is clean, friendly staff ,they were very helpful ,I would not hesitate to go here again.and there is a pub next door that opens early to have your breakfast ,I would like to thank you .
As advertised, my brother and I went especially for all you can eat breakfast and we weren't disappointed. No-one rushed you, the food was ample, hot and well cooked, not looking as if it had been there a week. I look forward to my next visit.
I called in for something to eat and drink never again the welcome was at best poor the food was bad I had to ask for more meat the chef cutting it that things it was a joke the table had not been wiped down and when the girl did the cloth was mingling so I left my food and walked out
First time visit for myself but recommend by friends. Lunch time visit with colleagues, friendly staff, good service and hot food. Found it easily using the post code on the sat nav couldn't ask for more.
Never been to the Waterside Toby Carvery in St Helens before. When all said and done it remains a typical Toby Carvery. However, service was better than others and better than average. Food was good. Waiter was excellent. Would visit again!
