My husband and I went to the restaurant in the Torrance Hotel to celebrate his birthday. The quality of our starters and main courses were very good and the service was efficient and friendly. My husband particularly enjoyed his steak.

My son booked and paid £59 per person for the worst meal I have ever had in a "hotel". Turkey was rolled vaccum packed rubbish that I can buy any day at any supermarket. Phoned to complain and spoke to assistant manager who admitted it was rolled breast bought in NOT TURKEY carved from a bird. He got the manager...

Hubby and I booked this as a Christmas gift to one another. We tried to get the honeymoon suite but it was booked already so we asked for the next room down from that which also had a jacuzzi bath. When we arrived we were checked in promptly and efficiently. Our room was much smaller than expected - it was...

Had a fantastic time at the Torrance on Christmas Day. Staff were fantastic and welcoming (especially Zachary and David), food was so good and lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone, even had some Australian family with us who said they absolutely loved it! Thank you to all the team, it was very busy but all staff were so attentive...

Had our Christmas Dinner here and really wish I`d never gone. Fourteen adults jammed (and I mean jammed) into one long table so absolutely no elbow room. One cruet set for the table so you can imagine the arms and hands reaching over dinner plates to "pass the salt". Lipstick stains on glass which was returned. Unacceptable. The "turkey" served...

I am full of admiration for the ambience and layout of this Hotel particularly the catering side. Excellent value Christmas meal at £25 for 3 courses and coffee. Staff all young but very good, Good selection of drinks from a very attractive bar and wine was well priced although a pretty limited selection especially as they had run out of...

The room was meant to be an executive suit but was very small although quite nice but not £199 worth. Very noisy and no soundproofing, kept up all night with kids and adults from the wedding running about to roughly 3am and kept awake by a couple from the wedding in the next room until breakfast. The management team are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcoming traditional village hotel in walking distance to Scotland's largest undercover shopping and leisure centre in East Kilbride. East Kilbride has many local attractions including Village Theatre, Golf Courses, Ten Pin Bowling, Ice Skating, Odeon Cinema and is only 7 miles from Glasgow city centre. Built in 1773 by General Stuart of Torrance as a cotton-spinning mill and workers' houses the building in Torrance Square provided a focus for town life. In its many incarnations the popular Torrance Hotel has also housed a school, a shop and a Coaching Inn, but it has always been at the heart of East Kilbride. The building has retained all its original character and charm. We have 20 comfortable bedrooms including the newly refurbished Honeymoon Suite for 2007. Enjoy a meal in our warm and friendly restaurant or lounge bar which caters for a wide range of food from traditional meals to bar snacks. We are a 5 minute walk from the local train station which will take you straight into Glasgow's Central Station which runs every half hour. If more information is required then do not hesitate to ask our friendly receptionist staff. We would like to advise guests that there will be no bar or restaurant facilities for the next 4 months. We are undergoing a major refurbishment to improve the services to the guests in the future. ... more   less
