It is a long time since I stayed at such a dilapidated place. The moment I entered I felt depressed. The carpet is stained, the toilet doesn't flush without lifting the cistern lid, the shower is mouldy and generally the place is uncared for. I complained to the staff on my departure and was told "It's just guest house standard"...

So me and my wife came up here for a little weekend break, 2 nights. We booked thinking we'd stay at the Beach Lodge, but on arrival quickly found that this is infact the Roker Hotel which has been renamed...which a quick check online will tell you is an awful experience. Sign on the door says check in is at...

Booked this believing we were staying in a hotel. Had to climb 4 flights of stairs with my mum who struggles to walk. Only to find a tiny attic room that smelt of damp. I don't think the dirty carpet had been hoovered in weeks. The wallpaper was in holes and the bathroom very grubby. The lodge itself is in...

Our bedroom door didn't even lock! We were on the ground floor and heard near...

My partner and me stayed here to spend one night. We were in really noisy room because it was near to the hotel bar. Besides, the room upstairs was really noisy too, they were listen to music till 3am and speaking in a really high voice and continuing the party in the room. Next monday we complain to reception and...

Stayed here for my friends wedding and it was a total dive. Originally paid 55 but was offered an upgrade for an extra 5 pound. Took the upgrade but if this was an upgrade I would hate to see what the original room was like. The room was tiny, depressingly decorated (decorated about 50 years ago) The shower was just...
