Good hotel in the center of Gjövik (small city about 120km from Oslo). Room was ok. TV was surprisingly big, but the bathroom and shower were narrow. There is a spa in this hotel, and hotel guests have a special lower price there. Breakfast was included in the price, and it was tasty.
Unfortunately, I ended up on the poor side. The room although clean, and modernly furnished, was without carpet and I remember thinking to myself that it must have been the same architect from Camp X-Ray that had designed it. I did enjoy the breakfast, which had a reasonable selection of foods to choose from, and the dining area was also spotless. The hotel shares the lobby with the local cinema, which can get quite busy before a performance. The staff seemed quite friendly and the reception also doubles as a bar. Would I stay here again? I would pay more and stay on the other side in one of the nicer rooms. If I had to stay on the side I did, then I will be driving home after my meetings in Gjøvik, rather than stay in the hotel.
Nice hotel fairly sentral in Gjøvik with very good service and a roof restaurant with nice view and very good food and service. At the moment and some time forward somwhat noicy in the morning from construction work around the hotel
Very nice, friendly and accomodating hotel for the family when you are visiting Gjøvik area. The kids (and adults) loved the swimming at the Otium Spa. Delicious breakfast. They also have a nice and spacious playroom area for the kids.
My first visit here was a catastrophe, the room we booked was not available, up on arrival the room we should have was not cleaned so we get a third room , but that room was not filled up with bath equipment so we wait for 45 minutes, the Pi restaurant on the roof was nice so we decided to give the hotel a second chance, we ordered de luxe room from booking , with balcony, separate living and bedroom, surprise 😞 we get the key and it’s exactly the same room as the other ,no balcony, no living room, just more expensive, and up on all in this pandemic time it’s dirty ,
Very nice trip to Gjøvik. Even in the middle of a pandemi we got a little holiday feeling. Warm welcome from staff, good information about how to avoid spreading virus. Nice room. Very good meal in steakhouse, 3 maincourses, and 1 starter, wine and beer, €170, good value to be in Norway. Very nice spa treatment. And Gjøvik is a nice little town. Strand hotel is walking distance to almost everything.
had a dobbleroom for one and a large comfy dobble bed, the romm had vieuw to the river , Quiet at night so I had a good nights sleep, stayed there for two nights, The breakfast was ok, lots to choose from. a bit buizy, but the food tasted good.
This hotel, atleast the room i got was horrible. The shower is HOT, so BE AWARE so u dont get burned! After 1min shower the floor is full of water with 1-2cm of water. The drainer is not blocked, it is just a really really bad work that has been Done, and it is clearly it's NOT made by proffesionals. The rooms are decent but with nearly No aircondition and the air gets really dry and gives you a headache. Would NOT, and NEVER recomend this hotel for anyone, and it is FAR from being "luxury" as adverts say. I was sent here just to look up the ratings, and this is just not good. Beds are okay, cleaningservice in 24hr in advance is just lazy. This is far from a "hotel"... This is more like an hostel...
My car needed service, and this was my choice in Gjøvik. The hotel is very easy to find, in a great set of restaurants and activities, on site. During this COVID-19 situation, the hotel was very successful in keeping the rules. In the evening the only restaurant allowed to be open was the Pi-Taket on top of the Hotel - good food, service - especially the top open air solution. The room 434 was also very good, I had upgraded, BUT, the railway line is only 100 meters away, and goes over a bridge, at least every hour, making a fantastic large amount of noise ! ( Sorry, we sleep with the window open ). So sleep with the WINDOW closed or on the other side of the HOTEL. Can recommend this hotel.
The room was cold. Nothing in the minibar - not even water. No phone. The electricity and the hair-dryer in the bathroom didn’t work. The shower drain in the first room we stayed in was clogged, which resulted in flood in the bathroom and we had to change room in middle oft the night. We had to pay 115 NOK to use the swimming facility at the hotel. It is free in all other hotels I have stayed at in Norway. Besides, with NOK 115, you can rather visit the public swimming pool in town. If you chose your room not to be cleaned, the hotel would donate money to UNICEFs work against human trafficking. The hotel should donate that money no matter you get your room cleaned or not. Because The hotel chain is owned by one of the richest ones in Norway - Petter Stordalen, he can afford it. The people at the reception were nice and helpful.…
