We had to postpone one earlier reservation and spent 4 days in this hotel. Out idea was to see the surroundings and just sleep in this hotel. The breakfast was very good, and we also appreciated the dinners served in Linnansali restaurant. The service was excellent. The idea to sleep however did not happen as the rooms don’t have air conditioning. We were obliged to keep the window open all night. Fortunately during our stay the outside temperature in the night was chilly, so we got fresh air to the room. The price per night is too high for a hotel without air conditioning. We were on holidays and took it easy, but airco should be a must in this kind of hotel.
There was high stairs to the reception ! No handrail, elevator or ramp. Older people are better take room garden hotel behalf. In room is kettle but no sugar at all. There wasn`t bag rack in room and very little preservation. Breafast was average. Worst Wi-fi. Tv only one room, no bedroom. Hotel parking is good front of hotel.
There was a convention in the town we wanted to stop on our self drive tour and all the hotels were booked. We drove an extra 45 minutes to this town and Scandic hotel. We got the last room which was wheel chair accessible. We were in the newer building which is a long walk from the registration desk. If you are in the new building park your car in that lot so you do not have to walk a mile. The rooms were large and nice. Breakfast was okay. Parking was free and secure with a guard. Prices on the higher side but we did not look at other hotels.
We enjoyed our time there. Location is very good in the middle of the town and next to rapids. It isn't the most modern and up-to-date hotel but it has very nice atmosphere. I'm already tired of these very minimalistic "scandinavian design" -hotels. Breakfast was very good!
I had a standard room on the new side. Polite service. The room was OK but needed updating. Breakfast could have been better (more fruits and vegetables). The hotel is very well located in the center of Imatra. The hotel has a sauna, pool area and gym.
For me was big dissapointment that even the TV had HDMI port on side - it was possible to use that because TV own buttons were somehow disabled and remote did not had at all a button to choose that port as input. Wasn't able to display my training materials on screen and all the free time in hotel was wasted instead of study in the room.
Tidy and friendly hotel with class located in interesting surroundings in a small town of Imatra. Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, good breakfast and dinner as well as relaxing small spa. Good customer service made the trip!
Nice place in terms of architecture. You can see how majestic it was in its time. We staid in newer building where it has become a bit run-down. Service was great. Breakfast was average with several options. And the main attraction (the damn) is right next to it.
This is a historic building, which I had planned to stay at for a long time. The building itself is very nice and well located next to the rapids. The personnel was friendly and undoubtedly they were doing their best. The problem is that they are running the place as it was any normal Scandic anywhere. Couple of examples: (1) the hotel has a nice bar, a library, but they don't serve the bar, customers are expected to pick up their drinks at the reception and take them to the bar, (2) the bathroom had the cheapest possible shower cabinet, which is probably not very durable, but left the whole bathroom flooding after taking shower, (3) hotel restaurant had quite unimaginative menu (probably Scandic standard). The food was good, although not exceptional. They did not serve bread to the table but customers were told to pick up their own bread across the restaurant. (I wonder what the waiting staff was supposed to do then.) Also, french fries with the main course were wrapped in paper as they typically do at petrol stations or in hamburger joints. Not very appealing. I strongly recommend the hotel management to pay attention to small details as mentioned above. Perhaps visiting a first-class hotel somewhere else to see how they treat their clients. The hotel has potential, but they will have to improve their customer experience.…
The building is so beautiful old castle, but our stay there was just awful because of the heat. During our stay it was +28C outside and the same temperature inside our room, day and night. I understand, that it is impossible to get AC to this old building, but there are also other ways and machines to cool a room. In our room there was only one fan. When asked for a cooler, we got another fan; just a joke, because it does not get the temperature down. We were very disappointed. The hotel and its service is not on the same level with the historical building. Not to mention the price; not value for the money.
