Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Riisa Rantso has clean, comfortable, but basic rooms, some with attached shower/toilet. There is a log cabin with a kitchen and dining area: this is self-catering only.

But it is the location that is the main reason for going to Riisa Rantso. It is surrounded by the fields and bogs of the stunning Soomaa National Park. It is next to a river that is clean enough to swim in, there are rowing boats that are free to use and there are firepits to cook your dinner while watching the sunset. Just bring mosquito repellent!

For the energetic there is a trampoline, volleyball net and one of the unique family-sized Estonian swings. There's hiking, canoeing and bog-shoeing available in the Park.

We stayed here for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer.

Very pleasant quiet place next to the Sooma river and surrounded by nature. The room was newly reconstructed, simple and clean. There is a separate common kitchen which is well equiped, including an espresso machine :-)
We stayed there for only two nights but I felt like being there for a week, very relaxing.
The caretaker is a lady who lives in Parnu (50 km away), so she is not available immediately. We didnt have a reservation and called her and she had an open room ready for new visitors even if she was not there.
You can also have a breakfast included - we didnt take it but it looked really nice.

We didn't actually stay at Riisa Rantso - we just passed through here to go canoeing; which i would highly recommend. At only €20 per person for a self guided trip it is great value for money and there are plenty of interesting sights along the way.
We telephoned Aivar the day before and explained that we would like to go canoeing and he was very helpful when we explained that we wanted to wild camp in the national park - he told us where we could find some state-run sites (with firewood, cooking and toilet facilities) about 5 minutes away which was ideal for us.
When we arrived the next morning we met Aivar's colleague Algis - he was a real character, very warm, friendly and funny. Algis explained the options for canoeing and made us some coffee before we set off.
Before starting our trip we had a chance to look around the Soomaa Looduskeskus Visitors Centre. This is also worth a stop if you get a chance; there is lots of hands on activities (microscopes to look at bugs and insects, historic photos showing flood levels in recent years and lots of information on all the wildlife that can be found in the park).
The trip itself was great fun and lasted about 3-4 hours (not including the stop to explore the Bog Pools)
I would thoroughly recommend a visit here - even if only to meet Algis!

Location was good for trips and visiting Soomaa National Park.
Kiely was hospitable, excellent breakfast spread, cooked eggs, bacon, salads, yoghurts, cheeses, meats etc. Good value for the extra fee.
Suggestion for improvement:
Replace mattresses as springy/ old and provide the correct sized bed sheets so it fully covers the mattress.
Move the large bottle recycling bin under the stairs as seemed to be attracting the large number of flies around the stairs that lead up to the room.

Great accommodation, a communal kitchen and canoeing, what more could you want!
This is a lovely place with a variety of options. The owners are friendly and helpful and answered my emails efficiently and effectively.
We didn't go canoeing but the set up looked well organised with modern equipment.
This is a great place to stay on Sooma Park.

Riisa Rantso is located by the Halliste River in the middle of the wonderful Soomaa National Park with all its opportunities for wildlife watching. This includes the on-site pair of breeding White Storks!

Riisa Rantso offers clean, comfortable but very basic rooms. This is not 5 star hotel accommodation but the surrounding countryside location most certainly is.

I did not meet the host when I arrived nor the following morning when I left very early so I left the cash payment in the room. The price for a single person was exceptional value for money and the lowest that I paid on my trip around Estonia.

Not far away, the Jõesuu pub serves great food at very reasonable prices

Great riverside location, especially for Soomaa National Park adventures. Kalie was a gracious hostess - thank you! - Clean rooms, unique setting (to include a double-occupancy stork's nest). A peaceful, & pleasant location with happy birdsong. We really enjoyed our stay.
