We spent 3 nights at this fabulous spot following 4 days in the Mara. Easy journey from Mara to Diani by plane, followed by short road transfer and boat ride. Met on arrival by Claudia and her staff whose care and attention during our stay was second to none. Very well equipped, comfortable accomodation with free polo shirt, sun hat,... More

I dont know where to start...too much to say...plainly put thank you for allowing us to experience the 'heaven' you have here in Kenya...we felt like angels in every sense! Our stay at Funzi from the beginning was something totally out of this world...the tranquility, service, food, ambiance....a unique part of this experience is the informal nature of how things... I was a solo traveler...not by choice! My husband was to meet me there but got delayed by work. Funzi is the ULTIMATE spot for romance so being alone was challenging but the owners and staff were incredible and made me feel at home. They really went above and beyond. The rooms were amazing. The decor was fascinating. I would... More

I have just returned from the most wonderful trip to Funzi Keys and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and cannot wait to return again! Every attention to detail has been thought of, from the kikoy, sunhat and t-shirts that are given to each guest as well as the beach bags and sunscreen that are provided. On arrival the... More

The reviews of Funzi have been mixed, and I was wary. But I am on the side of those who really enjoyed it. Let me be clear. If you're looking for the Four Seasons of the Ritz, this is not it. And if you're looking for a Carribean or Hawaiian beach, this is not it. But then again, you're in... More

I too, having read Annalisa Whites review, had to write of our experience at Funzi. I would agree with everything that ESJLondon said about this marvellous hidden slice of Paradise and can add little more other than that everything was perfect.. The trips to the Sandbank were picture postcard perfect (just beware of how burnt you can get!!) - the... More

I have never posted a holiday review, good or bad on the internet, but having read the last reports posted on this website, I felt compelled to do so. We have just returned from The Funzi Keys and want to say that it was one of the best experiences of our lives, and we have travelled extensively around the world.... More

If you want total relaxation in a beautiful hideaway this is the place to come. There are no clocks, room phones, newspapers or TV but there are numerous smiling staff just waiting to pamper you and beautifully furnished large airy bungalows with their own individual jacuzzis and private sunbeds just yards from the sea. Breakfast is served any time of... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tucked away on a private peninsula of Funzi Island, The Funzi Keys' unique appeal is its luxurious seclusion and beautiful natural scenery, where the sight of local fishing dhows sailing by evokes colourful images of Swahili history and timeless traditions. Superbly located on a private, west-facing beach with glorious views of the African sunset, this is the perfect place to escape from the outside world in style. Accessible by a convenient 15 minute air transfer from Mombasa, or a short distance by road and hotel boat from Diani with its daily air services from Nairobi and the Maasai Mara. The accommodation consists of eight Sea-view Cottages and nine Beach-front Cottages. Each of the Sea-view cottages is shaded under a lofty thatched roof, fronted by a sandy terrace. The spacious, deluxe Beach-front Cottages also boast a jacuzzi with the sandy beach on the door-step. Two of these cottages have extensions specially designed for children, complete with their own en suite facilities. Life at The Funzi Keys is relaxed and many guests do little more than unwind by the spectacular free-form pool or laze on the pristine white sandbank with chilled drinks and a good book. The more energetic guests can enjoy sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and creek fishing or perhaps take a boat trip up the Ramisi River or Funzi Creek in search of brilliant kingfishers, crocodiles and dolphins. The hotel also has its own luxury deep sea fishing yacht. The essence of The Funzi Keys is bare-foot luxury and total informality. ... more   less
