#2 of 13 Speciality lodging in Si Sawat
Discover Le Bassin Erawan Resort, a place of relaxation near the city of Kanchanaburi. Comprised of 14 bedrooms, tastefully styled, and four tents with attached private bathrooms, Le Bassin offers a beautifully designed resort hidden away in the heart of the River Kwai. Le Erawan Resort is named after the series of water lilies painting, Le Bassin Aux Nympheas (meaning “water lily pond”) by French Impressionist artist Claude Monet. The resort is nestled around similar water lily ponds and the rooms are specifically situated along the water, offering a peaceful and private place to unwind. Located a few hours west of Bangkok, this location is perfect for a quick escape to the country, or a relaxing place if you’re flying into Bangkok and looking for a tranquil and peaceful location. We are delighted to give our guests free use of our two kayaks, allowing you to explore further along the river. We also offer a unique lunchtime experience on our floating raft. Our dishes will be provided to your party while you are towed along the river, with a chance to refresh yourself in the water afterwards – we guarantee this will be one of the most spectacular meals ever experienced! If you venture further afield, you can explore the natural wonders, including Erawan Waterfalls and the National Park, or find yourself feeding and bathing elephants by hand at the elephant sanctuary. You can also visit the Bridge over the River Kwai, notorious for its erection in World War 2, and you can visit the museum and war cemetery as well.

Short walk to the water, nice rooms, has parking, friendly staff work there. Took the boat out on one of the days, to swim and relax. Restaurant was great, many options to choose from and very good chef. Overall very impressed, place was recommended to by a friend, and happy to spread the word, would stay again next time in kanchanaburi!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay over a 3-day weekend here with our dog. The resort is beautiful, set along a small inlet from the River Kwai with gorgeous green hills in the backdrop. The design is all very hipster chic, with modern rooms and a lovely restaurant and cafe on the water. In addition to the seating in the cafe and restaurant, there are hammocks and rope swings and beanbags throughout the property to fully lounge and enjoy the peace and quiet. We had breakfast and dinner here both nights and the food was all very good, and served very quickly. And best for us, the property had a ton of green space for our dog to run around and play fetch, which is impossible to find near the city. One drawback is that the water here really isn't suitable for swimming because it is on an inlet, so the water is still and rather dirty. That didn't stop our dog from jumping in to chase a ball, but we weren't able to cool off that way. Fortunately, the resort is just a 17-minute drive to Erawan National Park and their amazing waterfalls and swimming holes, or you can find other places even closer on the actual river that may be more suitable for swimming. Take advantage of being so close to Erawan and go early in the morning to beat the crowds.

This is a nice-sized resort (fewer than 20 rooms/cabins) about an hour north of the city of Kanchanaburi. It has beautiful grounds and a variety of rooms/cabins spread out over the grounds. We stayed in one of the raft rooms, where the floor tilted somewhat, but that was more than compensated for by the view of the river and nearby hills from the porch at the back of our room. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and were quick to fix some small problems. And the food was terrific! We had 2 breakfasts (breakfast was included with the room) and 2 dinners, and we cannot praise the quality of the food highly enough. We definitely want to return. [TIP: Le Bassin is dog-friendly, which was a prime reason we chose it. We called several other resorts before making a booking and learned that many of those which advertised that they accepted dogs no longer do so.]
