Lovely place in Eurajoki! We visited Rauma, but decided to choose a different place to stay the night. Instructions were clear, we got the keys from a key box easily. The room was big and clean and well equipped. The rooms were in a smaller building next to the mansion and the breakfast in the main building. The mansion was lovely, we got to see it. There was also a gift shop, art gallery and sauna. Very peaceful place and friendly staff!
I'm not sure why we ended up in Eurajoki, Finland. Although the southwest coast of Finland, particularly the Aland Islands, is not to be missed, this specific area is not exactly a hotbed of interesting things to do or see. Unless of course, you are seeking out a grand 19th century manor house set in a gorgeous countryside and offering peace and quiet on an equally grand scale. It is also probably the finest example of Empire Architecture that we have ever seen. The Vuojoki Mansion is owned by the municipality of Eurajoki and has been painstakingly restored. There are several rooms located in the adjacent guesthouse a few steps from the main building. The rooms are quite comfortable, very clean, but are on the smaller side and without the grandeur of the main building. Nonetheless, they represent a bargain when you consider where you are staying. One night during our stay we were the only occupants of the estate, an experience we will not soon forget. Take the time to tour (on your own in our case) the second floor of this grand home. The furnishings, including the many portraits, are beautiful and typical of the period. Breakfast was typical bed-and-breakfast fare set in the main building. The buffet lunch looked amazing. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and always accommodating. I am not saying the area is void of interesting things to do. Rauma is the closest large town (15 minutes away) and is home to Old Town Rauma which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a relatively unspoiled example of 18th century wooden architecture which seems to have remained unchanged. There are interesting shops throughout the area, including lace-making, which is a true art. You can watch women of the town make the lace, a talent which is centuries old. There is even a lace festival at the end of July. Rauma is the closest place to Eurajoki with a good selection of restaurants. I'm not saying you should travel a great distance to stay at the Vuojoki Mansion, but if you ever find yourself in this part of Finland, you should book a stay here.…
Vuojoki mansion is a very pleasant hotel hidden in a small village near Rauma and not so far from Pori either. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the place is very quiet with a guarantee for a good night sleep. The mansion itself is a very beautiful building with a big and lovely garden. Breakfast is very good and the personnel friendly and helpful. We even had a guided tour which was very professional and fun, partly run by local dialect.
