The place is in the middle of no where. You must have a big car, because of the road. In the middle of no where, you arrive to a very charming salon, very rustic and low lights where is the reception, restaurant and bar. I think they should have more people working. Was just a girl called Dana, doing all:...

This was a great place for my wife and me to relax, read, and enjoy beautiful walks in the Talamanca mountains. The Pelican hotel is family run, very friendly and helpful. The views are spectacular at this quiet retreat and the meals are very good. We loved the simplicity of this place and enjoyed getting to know the owner and...

We went last week to this place, pacefull, ahead from the city, quite and keeped carefully, you can watch and listen to the birds just in the yards. Rooms are confortable and the saving plan for water and electricity is outstanding. You will have a lot of places to go, even the highest pick in Costa Rica, to go to...

The place is really nice and well prepared for people who plan on hiking Chirripo like we did. They provide snacks to go at crazy hours like 3 am in the morning and also give a ride towards the entrance of the Chirripo Park where the hiking starts. The service is OK-ish, We did have a few problems on our...

This was a pretty basic hotel, but had all the amenities: very clean, comfortable beds, really hot water, a decent restaurant, and really wonderful service. We forgot and left our credit cards in a hidey-hole in the room when we checked out, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and nice in retrieving our cards. The only drawback we...

We enjoyed the cabin. The food was excellent. It was close to the hiking trail and not too far from the city of San Isidro. The staff was helpful and friendly, There are some hot springs worth checking out not too far away though the trail is a bit of a small hike.

My husband and I hiked Chirripo and decided to stay at Pelicano. This hotel has all the amenities you need with a great hot shower which was highly needed. The grounds are nice, rooms are ok but what really makes this hotel special is the trio effect (Father -Freddy plus his two sons David & Omar)... These fellas went above...

I hiked Chirripo and stayed at this hotel. In fact, the Hotel arranged the whole trip. The hotel has a swimming pool and other facilities which I did not use because it was poring with rain on my arrival. The hotel leans towards rustic in its construction and style. My room had 2 beds, one double and the other single....

Great hotel to serve as a base for hiking in the area. Lovely gardens, friendly, accomodating staff. Close to a few local restaurants, and several interesting community NGOS to visit. Meals were okay, no complaints.

Everything about this hotel is beautiful: the super clean wood cabin-style rooms, the restaurant, the gardens.  In addition, the staff was very friendly and was constantly providing useful information about the area.  The food at the restaurant was not always good: undercooked rice, very dry meat, apparently stale beans.  The part that annoyed me was that they kept changing their...
