My husband and I stayed for 8 nights to see in the new year.

The good points are:

Great location with hotel set in beautifully maintained ground
All areas of hotel kept spotlessly clean - even the outdoor areas with all the trees/flowers
Entertainment was mixed, the good acts were disco night and acrobatics (excellent)
Room well appointed and really comfortable including tea making facilities
New Years Eve group Mahoney and firework display were first class
Plenty of sun beds and pool towels available at all times
Swimming pools - best I have used (swam every day) and good temperature
All inclusive worked well for us although there were some constraints on international brands
Large bathroom towels and fluffy bath robes (really great)
Security system for entering and leaving the hotel via the garden / beach lift areas

Attention points

Staff seem stretched and lacking in product awareness at times
Quality of food was below expectations for a 5 star hotel
Stayed all inclusive but no one really explained the system especially the lunch buffet around the pool
Unlike competitor hotels in Tenerife did not see presence of senior management. If they were there they were not recognisable
New Years Eve program lacked something for example no opening management drinks or greetings (have previously enjoyed this at other Tenerife hotels in Adeje)
Whilst we enjoyed the daily entertainment which was usually different acts, a lot of the singers sung the same songs which was a shame.

This was our first stay in Playa Paraiso - would we return? We very much enjoyed the resort and our stay at Gran Roca Nivaria, especially the romance of dancing under the stars on New Years Eve. This is an already good hotel but with some small adjustments the hotel offering could be even better (see attention points). Yes we will return.

We had a very nice holiday here for 7 nights in a standard room which was spacious and spotlessly clean. The hotel is situated in a quiet area with disappointingly very few decent bars or restaurants nearby. No nice promenade to walk along either. Unfortunately the evening buffet was somewhat hit and miss and the specialist restaurants difficult to book although we did manage to get to each of them later in the week.
The only reason we haven’t given a top rating is down to two things. Firstly you have to pay for a drinks package to have the fridge unlocked which is something we have never come across before. Even in the more basic hotels there is free access to the room fridge. Secondly whilst there is a decent coffee machine in the room you are only entitled to a few welcome coffee pods after which you have to pay for them. We would expect these to be provided free on a daily basis in a 5 star hotel.
Having said that we would return to the Roca Nivaria again and hope to do so.
Overall a very good holiday.

The hotel staff were really friendly and service was great you was made very welcome from the moment you arrived. The cleanliness of the hotel was exceptional and our room with sea-view and good size balcony was superb.Down side drinking water not provided in your room each day and you had to purchase a pack to use the mini bar/fridge in your room and also although a coffee machine and kettle were provided in your room you had to purchase tea bags and coffee not really necessary in a five star hotel. The buffet food had plenty of choices and had good variations each day. The Spanish restaurant was a big disappointment the menu was limited and the restaurant lack atmosphere booked the Italian but subsequently cancelled as we saw the kitchen was the same for both and menu again limited.Staff in all restaurants and bar were great. The other downside was the location of the hotel there was not many bars etc around the hotel unless you want to sit outside on the main road and there was no where to have a walk (however outside hotel along sea front construction was being carried out for this during our stay )We had a good time however from a personnel point of view we need more to do in the evenings.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at the Roca Nivaria and have to say it was fantastic. My wife and I had spent a week hiking on the North side of the island and thought we'd treat ourselves to a couple of all inclusive nights in a different hotel to end our holiday.

We had a Sea View room on the 7th floor of the main building and the views were absolutely stunning. The food was of a high standard and the pool areas weren't too crowded. What really made the hotel special though were the staff. Every single person I spoke to was polite and helpful and I don't think I've stayed anywhere with such a high staff to customer ratio!

I'd definitely stay here again!

We arrived on the Monday between Xmas and New Year having booked a double sea view with half board. On arrival we were told if we wanted to book the restaurants, apart from the buffet, we had to use the screens but unfortunately the restaurants were fully booked until the Saturday. We managed to book the Italian restaurant for Saturday and Sunday evenings. By Friday evening the buffet was wearing a bit thin. Food was plentiful although it could be a bit boring and tasteless.

The hotel is fine and room comfortable although the hotel is a bit spaced out and warren-like. From our room if you crane your neck you might catch a sea view and I would definitely request a different room if you find yourself allocated anything on the different floors numbered 30-36 eg 230-236. During our stay the balconies got no sun whatsoever during the day and as we were told the hotel was full, changing rooms didn’t appear to be an option.

The staff are very willing and friendly. The gym is ok although equipment has seen better days. Whilst there is WiFi, availability is a bit hit and miss eg not in the buffet restaurant, the gym and can come and go by the pools.

Don’t think we’ll be returning. The 4 stars are for room comfort and staff service.

This was our first visit to the Roca and it wont be our last. We have been to Tenerife more times than I can count and the Roca is the best hotel we have stayed at.
Firstly always carry your roome key!
Check in was fine but later realised we had not received as much information that we would have liked.
Our room was large, modern and very well equiped. probably only the Dalaman Hilton is the better hotel room on a short haul holiday that we have used. Only disappointing but little point is the lack of English speaking tv channels. The twin beds were comnfotable but on wheels (with locks) but mine kept on moving if I sat up to watch tv.
The pool and grounds are immaculately kept and beautiful. We never found trouble finding sun beds and our complementary towels could be changed at any time.
we stayed on an all inclusive basis and international brand drinks were included with some extra cost if you wanted others.
You are required to show your room card whenever ordering drinks or at lunch or evening meals. Staff have a small pda and they scan your card for payment if required. You do not see what they are entering (which was a little disconcerting) however we went to reception to confirm our account and they were happy to provide an update.
Food was of a high standard, buffet food was always hot and staff regularly updated the dishes. probably one of the smallest buffets we have seen but there was everything we needed. We did use the Italian restaurant (at no extra cost) and thorughly enjoyed it.
there is an app to download which proivides all the hotel information including booking restaurants and menus. However the wifi was not 100% throughout the hotel and sometimes I had difficulty accessing the information. A large screen is available in the reception which you can access all this though.
lastly and probably the highlight of our visit, the staff! without doubt they were the best, we have ever met. I was going to highlight some of them on this review but to be honest they were all truly teriffic. Always a smile and always polite words, whenever I said gracis, i always received a quiet ‘ de nada’ (no problem). If there were any reason to return it was the service we received.
Roca staff, thank you very much….

Dear Merchant, thanks for your extended review about our hotel. In reference to the information during check-in, our reception desk tries to make easier for you the arrival and give only the main information, as normally guests arrive very tired and they prefer to arrive to the room as soon as possible, for that reason, they inform about our WebbApp in which you can find all the information you need about the hotel. In any case, perhaps is a good point to check with them if it is necessary to give more information if you are demanding it. Regarding the TV channels, we are improving our service. Our wifi is improving aas well, Thanks for your nice comments about our staff. we are very proud of all workers here. It is very important connection with our gests. The Management. We hope to see you again here soon.

We recently returned from the hotel and really enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is close to perfect, I'd rate 4.5 if I could.

We were in a junior suite (room 26) and it was huge! A room for children and a room for adults, a big bathroom and a huge patio with a sea and pool view. The room was excellent, the only part I didn't like was having to purchase a drinks package (starting at €10 to use the fridge in the room. Hotel can provide proper cots (not travel cots) for babies.

That are five different pools, three in the main are of the hotel with sea views (one freshwater, one salt water, one very small kids pool) and two pools over in the Roni Adventurer area. This area doesn't actually open until 10am so if you're there on time there's no problems with getting a sun bed. Main pool here is 1.2m deep and a very shallow pool for young children. Water slides and dry play area meant we spent most of our time here, it's awesome. The animation team work very hard and are very engaging. Pool towels are available. Book the zip line as soon as you arrive as is quite busy.

Halfway through our trip something changed in the main buffet restaurant. It was self service buffet to start, but then turned into service by employees, which was fine, but just slowed everything up. Food quality was actually pretty good for both breakfast and dinner. Each night had a different theme. The two al-la-carte restaurants are only open a few nights each week so book these as soon as you arrive. The italian is very good.

Kids club is open 10am to 6pm each day, baby club is open 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm. These are both still open during COVID, kids club is all outside.

Now the location, I mean, it's fine, but there's literally nothing happening around the hotel within walking distance really. I would say that if you were here B&B there's very little dinner options around. There is a small supermarket just outside for supplies.

Overall, it's a great hotel, a bit of a maze, could do with a detailed resort map, but would definitely stay again!

We stayed here for the second year running and love this hotel. From the initial reception staff through the room staff to the waiters and pool staff it’s a really well run and friendly team. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean throughout , the restaurants over a great choice of food for breakfast and dinner and it’s an ideal location for families of all ages.
The hotel is in a fairly quiet area but there are a number of nice bars and shops and restaurants nearby .
A special mention for the manageress whose office is by the reception desk. We had an urgent and fairly personal matter to deal with and she was extremely helpful.
Strongly recommended and we will go again.

Hotel is beautiful and kept very clean. Covid measures are taken seriously with masks and hand sanitizer available.

For us the highlight was the kids club. A hard working team making sure our little girl age 4.5 was entertained for an hour or so a day. There was also afternoon games scheduled around the kids pool like hide and seek, treasure hunts and bowls for the mini age group .

The restaurants are a good standard. However I didn’t find there to be much variety as a non fish eater. There is a small gluten free section for breakfast a corner which could do with being extended.

The staff were very friendly around the pool area and restaurant. All was table service for drinks . The cocktails are all freshly made by hand and delicious on the all inc.

The app situation is a little frustrating and lets the hotel down . We tried to book the Spanish restaurant one evening and couldn’t . We asked the reception staff to help and got no support . This was disappointing as in a weeks stay we would hope for one night at the al a carte restaurants - which never seemed busy passing by! Tip - so do this early if you want to go one evening.

We had a sea facing view or family suite and it was well worth the extra money, soul healing views.

Would definitely return

This was our second visit to this hotel and again we were not disappointed even though restrictions for COVID-19 were imposed half way though our holiday. We chose an upper floor sea view room and it was spacious with a large terrace with two sunbeds and table and chairs. The view of the sea is uninterrupted as there is a glass panel in the wall. The room has a king-size beds with large satellite TV with a selection of channels in different languages. There was a mini bar that can be stocked on request, kettle and espresso coffee machine. There was a large bath, separate rain shower and double basins. The restaurant is self service but the quality of food is excellent with a wide variety of dishes. There is a themed menu every evening together with freshly cocked steaks and fish. In addition there are two speciality restaurants at require booking. There are two large pools, small toddlers pool and a whirlpool.
The stall are very friendly and very efficient and kept smiling even through the CORVID 19 crisis. Outside there is a small parade of shops that includes a supermarket and a number of bars.
