We were treated to dinner with friends who had travelled up from Dorset. Dawn was very attentive. The meal was superb. Cheese soufflé starter highly recommended. Compliments to the Chef!! We can see the pub from our house and are delighted with the turnaround. During the previous two tenancies, the experience was so poor we only went in twice. We...

I came to try their new 'taster menu' which they serve from 5pm-6.30pm. I came with my mum just for a quick tea and the portion size was ideal! Not too much but not too little, we didn't want to order from the main menu as we weren't too hungry and wanted room for one of the delicious puddings! My...

My wife and I called for a light lunch. We were greeted by a lady and gentleman very warmly. My wife had a soup and sandwich deal and I had an open sandwich. The food was served promptly by a rather nervous, but very pleasant young waitress. We thought it was very good. We understand that the pub has only...

Had dinner, last night, from the specials offered on the menu. Good quality food, excellently cooked and presented. The recent change of management has breathed life back into what was a flagging business. At long last this pub/ hotel is going in one direction.... Up.

Visited with family after a day of walking. The pub was very clean and well presented. The food was very nice but the service was average; the young waitresses all seemed a little nervous. They were friendly but nervous and on edge. One thing I did note is that the manageress didn't make a great deal of effort to say...

We felt too lazy to cook tonight and popped down to our local under new management with a new chef. Really delicious twice baked soufflé, followed by very good fish and chips. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and good friendly service. Definitely a good notch up from normal pub grub. Perfect evening and we will be back.

This pub is located in a lovely little village, right by the bridge and about 15 mins from the M6 junction 41. We arrived to a friendly welcome, a clean and tidy room and then enjoyed a relaxing bar meal and drinks. Breakfast next morning was very good and set us up for our journey. We used this en route...

“Ours was Room 5, with en suite shower room. It was very comfortable, spotlessly clean (like everywhere else in the hotel) with a 6ft bed and plenty of clothes storage. There was an extra blanket in the wardrobe, along with a hot/cold fan heater. Our room overlooked the road but was quiet. Rooms at the back would overlook the car park but there is a beer garden between the building and the car park. We didn't hear anything from about 10:30pm till 7:45am.”

“We had Room 1 which was at the front of the hotel compact and on suite but adequate for the stay, at first we thought it would be noisy but our concerns were unfounded.”
