Eat here often as I live in the village. Food always to a high standard since the new owners have taken over. Developing into a real social hub in the village, always something going on. Drink kept to a high standard and staff always friendly and obviously hard working!

This is a cute wee place to pop into on the main road through Bowness on Solway. It's nothing fancy but then I visited in winter and I am sure in summer it would have a lot more trade with walkers and campers. It was pleasant though, nice beer, chatty staff. I'd go back.

Not many places to eat on the coast road so enjoy the good service at this establishment. The pub has the air of the centre of the village social life. We understand the village is cut off during high tides

A fairly large group of us arrived for lunch on a very wet day. The staff were very welcoming (they moved tables so we could all sit together), the pub was warm, clean and dry and the food was excellent. Some of the produce was home grown (courgettes in the soup) and the home cooked ham in the bun was...

A group of us were cycling around the Solway coast and camped down the road from Port Carlisle. The pub is light and airy and very welcoming, The "specials " for the day were local salmon and sea trout and were delicious. The chips were divine! Honestly the best I have ever had. In fact when we were asked if...

This pub has recently had a change of management and is now a family ran business. We received a very friendly welcome and there was a really nice atmosphere. We were really impressed with the food and service. The home made cheese cake was amazing! Will definitely be back, thank you.

Called in for lunch. Dog was welcome in the bar area ( she lies under any table we are eating at!). Good portions from a basic bar menu. It's a pub with friendly staff - what's not to like? Not quite gastro pub but then not gastro pub prices. Give them a try and help keep a village pub going.

Our room (as they all are) was above the bar. On our second night a noisy party was allowed to continue until after 4 am. There were profuse apologies in the morning from the staff who were not on duty overnight, but it was too late for us by then! This is a very basic pub with rooms and little...

On our Tuesday arrival we were met by the new host who quickly showed us to our "full of character" rooms. Within no time, even before putting the bags in the room he had taken our meal order from the limited extensive menu. I will never forget those words " yes , we have the pie and the gravy is...

I finished a four day hike along Hadrian's wall at this pub and liked it so much we ended up staying there for the night. We arrived just in time to watch the premier league live on the big screen. We had a drink or two at the bar, chatted with some of the locals and a very welcoming bar...
