I spent 3 nights at this B&B. As others have said Lorna is a wonderful host and although I had only booked a single room she 'upgraded' me to a lovely double room. The property is in immaculate condition and kept pristine clean. Although the bathroom was not en suite this never caused me any issues. Lorna makes a wonderful...

Lorne is a wonderful hostess. She welcomed us as if we were family. Our accommodations were very comfortable and very clean...and the views of the North Sea...spectacular!!! She gave us recommendations for sites to see and places where we might like to eat or shop. Breakfasts were delicious and she served them on a different style of dishes everyday. We...

I spent three nights there in September. Lorna, the owner, is so friendly and makes you feel comfortable and at home. The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac overlooking the town of picturesque village of Gourdon and the North Sea. The house is furnished nicely and immaculate. Excellent wifi. Guests have use of the lounge and backyard. Lorna...

Stayed here after finishing a coast to coast walk across Scotland as part of the TGO Challenge. Lorna was very welcoming and very helpful. Before I arrived she emailed directions to me so that I knew where to find the B&B and texted information regarding the restaurant (Hornblowers) down at the harbour shortly before my arrival to let me know...

We were here at the end of August for a few nights. We haven't stayed in too many B&B's, although this was the second in the area over the past two years. The rooms (we rented two) were comfortable and clean, but it was Lorna who made the visit special. She nailed the correct mix of friendly host, concierge, and top...

This is a lovely B&B with the very friendly hospitality. We spent there one night but it was amazing one night. Gourdon is a small and beautiful town. Lorna provided a warm welcome and an excellent breakfast. The views from the front lying bedrooms and breakfast room fantastic. All bedrooms are very comfortable. It is really recommendable!

This is a very cute B & B. Lorna is a darling, a very friendly host. The views from the front lying bedrooms and breakfast room are unbeatable. Also, when passing through, buy a great fish & lobster picnic from the local fish shop. The catch comes directly from the trailor and is smoked in ovens with possibly 100 years...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Gourdon Schoolhouse is situated in a stunning location with spectacular views just off the A92 between Montrose and Stonehaven. It is within easy reach of Aberdeen, Dundee, Arbroath, Carnoustie and Royal Deeside. We have 2 double rooms (one facing over the sea) on the ground floor and 1 single on the upper floor. All rooms have TV/DVD, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer. We pride ourselves on cleanliness and comfort. Plenty off-street parking and further undercover parking for 2/3 bikes. Also secure storage for other equipment ie golf clubs, walking/fishing gear. We offer a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where we hope people arriving as guests will leave as friends. There is a large garden to enjoy the sunshine with a glass of wine or a sunlounge for if it's cooler. Guests are also welcome to join the family and friends in their private lounge where a coal/log fire burns in the colder weather. Breakfast can be cooked, or a lighter alternative, but whatever you have your view will be the same as the dining room looks over the village, harbour and North Sea. The village has a pub, shop, fish & chip shop with restaurant and a hairdresser. Nearby Inverbervie which is within walking distance has couple of good places for bar meals and an excellent Indian restaurant. Visit nearby Dunnottar Castle or one of the many Nature reserves, or perhaps the Air Heritage Centre. Whatever you like to do, you know you can chill out when you get back. ... more   less
