Had a beautiful time with friends In a beautiful location despite the stresses of Covid meaning that many guests couldn’t make it. Management was accomodating with drastic changes to villa bookings because of this and was responsive to difficult conversations regarding this. This was much appreciated given such a difficult time for businesses and tourism. There was some mix up with my payments but the women at reception were incredibly kind and helpful during this process and very apologetic that the transactions had been processed incorrectly. They were doing a brilliant job. I was promised a refund for a friend who couldn’t make the wedding and this was honoured and I received a full refund. This is much appreciated and very professional given the financially hardships of so many during this time. Thanks Selong Selo.…
We were fortunate enough to stay in this resort last year (I had meant to do a review straight away as it was such a fabulous experience). We were collected from the airport by a courteous driver and driven through the windy roads through palm trees and then suddenly, out of nowhere Selong Selo resort appears like an oasis! We were warmly welcomed by Taner, the Manager who was extremely helpful in every respect during our stay, advising on where to eat, do yoga and surf and also giving us useful tips as we wished to buy pottery urns similar to the ones in reception.. The reception is open plan and also doubles as the spacious bar/restaurant. Travel around the resort is by buggy if necessary but it is not difficult on foot. There is also a twice daily shuttle down to the beach. We were impressed by the modern architecture and design of the villa and even more blown away by the spectacular vista (worth it on its own!) We had a six person villa for five of us which was huge. It had an open sitting area with satellite tv and kitchen, there was also a mini kitchen which I presume was for the caterers which contained a very handy water cooler. The villa has a mobile phone to use to request any assistance or make food orders from the restaurant. The outside area was stunning, amazing views from the infinity pool, we were also able to see monkeys in the trees from there. Unfortunately when we were there there was still building work being carried out but the disruption was minimal and certainly didn't spoil our stay. There is another outside kitchen with a barbecue and large dining table and a seating area to relax in. We took the buggy to the beach most days where I did yoga and my family learned to surf. There is also an excellent restaurant there where I can recommend the seafood. Apart from that there are not any nearby restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel was very good and the breakfast amazing - so much choice!! Many different types of teas, coffees and juices and an abundance of choice of food. The staff were always attentive, helpful and friendly and went out of our way to meet our every need. We really didn't want to leave and can't wait to get back! Many thanks to Taner and all the staff there who made our stay so wonderful.…
We recently hosted our wedding at Selong Selo and had the most incredible experience. We had to make a number of last minute changes due to unforeseen circumstances and Selong Selo bent over backwards to make everything happen for us. The individual villas and main areas are incredible - I have never witnessed such incredible views before. The food, staff, amenities were exceptional - it all felt like luxury. If you are looking for a relaxing stay or are wanting to host a wedding here, I couldn't recommend Selong Selo enough.
Stayed 3 nights in a 1 Brm villa. Great view from hillside over selong belanak beach. Staff are all great. Friendly and helpful. Used a what app butler service. Very efficient. Best thing is the restaurant. Always open. Food outstanding. Ate everything at each meal. New chef. Best dish was the tuna sambal. Some villas still being built, but not a great hinderance. Cannot beat being in pool looking out over cliff to beach
Staff were excellent but Management needs to get its act together. Quite a Bit of very loud construction noise (diggers and machinery rumbling from 7 am to 5 pm, plus random hammering and sawing) keeps this work in progress from being quite restful. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad for all those small groups of construction workers wandering the lanes between villas, opening fences and pulling Cale but it’s all going on without so much as a “0please excuse our noise.” This was not the retreat I expected. GM was blasé about our reservation mixup and although she managed to accommodate us all without incurring charges, her attitude was not sympathetic but rather overly concerned with maintaining a PR line. Front desk weekend days girl (‘not Angie who was done) forgot to tell me WiFi password and I had to ask her for the key. Just before checking out, we booked a hotel car transfer. she asked if our group wouldn’t mind sharing a van to the airport with some other guests. We consented, ended up waiting for 15+ minutes , with our bags packed by the lobby, for the van to swing by and collect us... finally I just asked her, where’s the van to the airport? She said “oh I’m sorry! I forgot to tell you that they already left!” Sheesh! Not easy to forgive a good like that! Now the villas are tastefully decorated and the beds are firm, the view stupendous, and a decent kitchen, but the lack of privacy is disconcerting. You are unlikely to feel safe from prying eyes while out in your plunge pool or relaxing on the deck. Seems there’s always an angle of looking into someone else’s villa or pool area, and it’s reciprocal as well. Several new villas are under construction now, and this is no hideaway... it’s chock a block with glass walled units! Shower/ bath areas of villas very nice but dare I complain about one more thing? The conditioner smelled disgusting and didn’t even de tangle or condition my hair. People in another villa said the exact same thing... weird. We went to use the big main pool up by the Aura restaurant and found it under filled and filthy. Dead insects and other flotsam was mixed up in it and the water filtration was clearly not working. Front desk dais ‘yes it has a leak so we can’t fill it all the way ( to the infinity edge). Well, they should actually just close it. More unfathomable PR. Drivers were great, picking us up in golf carts and taking us up to main lobby and restaurant as needed; kids club is good as is gym. Look, this has many aspects of a fine resort. but with management not in control, despite very low occupancy, it’s just not good value. …
