A few years ago, I read an hysterical response written by Hotel Doolin’s Manager, Donal Minihine to a review by LovinHawaii. I was so intrigued by his response, I decided I absolutely had to stay at the hotel.

I can tell you, I’m not sure what hotel LovinHawaii stayed in when he claimed to have visited Doolin, County Clare, Ireland but the Hotel Doolin that I stayed in was fantastic.

First contact was Lieke on the front desk. Checked us in and didn’t then just point – “your room’s down there”, she actually walked us to our rooms and made sure we were settled in.

The rooms were large, bright, comfortable, clean and well appointed. The nice comfy bathrobes were a special treat as were the brownies on our arrival. And I discovered, the rooms were not cookie cutter, each had its own personality and colour scheme.

Dinner the first night in Fitzpatrick’s was excellent. The service in was quick and young Niamh and Emma were delightful, although rushed off their collective feet.

Tracey, at breakfast the next morning, was bubbly and bright and thankfully, noticed that I had left my purse behind and took it directly to Lieke.

The staff were unfailingly polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Even when I blew a circuit breaker and plunged my entire room into complete darkness at 5:30 am, Adam was at my door within the 2 minutes promised and there was not a word about “what the ‘eck are you doing blowing circuit breakers – go to sleep”.

Clearly Manager Donal Minihine kept his promise to LovinHawaii and the grumpy old men were executed on February 30th, as there were none to be seen. Unfortunately, we just missed the annual celebration of same.

The breakfast that was included with the room was piping hot and delicious – the hollandaise on my Eggs Benedict would give my mother’s hollandaise a run for its money – and that’s about the highest complement I could give. I’m not embarrassed to say I wanted to lick the plate.

Two things I really liked as well were, that despite repeatedly, accidentally having my key card and my phone in close proximity, not once did I have to have my key card reprogrammed; and teapots that actually poured tea into the cup, not all over the table. Don’t get them at home.

Thank you to Lieke, Niamh, Brian, Emma, Greta (who got me more tea at 6:30 am), Chef Seamus, Adam and the very funny Manager, Donal for making our stay absolutely delightful. I will remember you for many years to come.

And what an unexpected and amazing touch to be handed half a loaf Dooliner Guinness and Treacle Bread, baked on the premises, as a parting gift.

And thank you LovinHawaii. If you hadn’t given Donal the vehicle by which to write his hysterical response, I never would have been intrigued enough to find this beautiful hotel set in absolutely breathtaking landscape on the west coast of Ireland. Doolin would never have entered my conscious brain and it would have been a huge loss.

Beyond well worth the trip to the west coast of Ireland!

We spent a wonderful two nights stay in early July back in Doolin .
Despite this being our first time out of hibernation, torrential rain and my being pregnant - it was a relaxing and safe stay . The staff, food and facilities were consistent as ever and with confidence we were eased back into post lockdown holidays. Most of all I commend the restaurant and bar staff who visibly sanitised their hands numerous times in the hour and a half we dined one evening . Fantastic experience .

The Hotel Doolin is beautiful. The bedroom was spotless and huge with a very large very comfy double bed. The decor is beautiful very hard to leave the bedroom it was so lovely. The bathroom had a very large bath and a powerful shower with lots of hot water. Everything in the hotel is thoughtfully done. Lovely caring receptionists and free newspapers laid out every day and theres a gas flame a fire burning in the reception area which makes it a very attractive and inviting place to sit and read a book. The bar had live music a big fire and fantastic food. the fish and chips were memorable. Big chuncky pieces of fish in a light batter. Loads of fish along with chunky homemade chips. the breakfast was just as good. Still served right up until 10.30am if you'd like a lye on. The full fry would feed an army. Great rashers and sausages and mushrooms crispy potatoes beans and two lovely soft eggs omatoe and black and white pudding and lots of toast and real ground coffee served in a plunger jug. All done to perfection and served on a lovely long plate. The omlette was one of the best I've ever eaten. Soft in the middle with gooey cheese ham mushrooms etc..not one single thing done badly foodwise. A fabulous breakfast that would set you up for the day. I would highly recommend the Hotel Doolin, then to add icing to the cake, they gave us a loaf of their lovely brown bread as a parting gift as we were leaving. You just can't get any better, I'll be back.

The service here was lovely from check in to check out. We stayed from a Monday - Wednesday and the hotel was still fairly busy. We booked one of the few houses next to the hotel that they own and rent out. The house was lovely and was 300 for 2 nights for 4 of us. We each got a voucher worth 13 euro to spend in the restauraunt on food. The food was absolutely incredible (chicken burger - WOW) and the drinks were very well priced.
The staff all had face coverings and were sanitising regularly. They were also very friendly as is everyone in Doolin! The location of the hotel is excellent too with tons of parking. Only 25 mins walk to Doolin pier.
Evening entertainment was on in the evenings too from around 7pm onwards in the bar. Overall excellent trip.

I recently came for dinner here with family and from when we first sat down, to when we left it was such a relaxed and enjoyable evening. We sat outside for food and oh was it delicious. The staff were incredibly helpful, want to say thanks to Piotr, Susie, Danielle and Eimear. The social distancing guidelines were well mapped out on the floor inside, appreciated the good flow from entrance to exit. The hand sanitizer on the wall outside was an extra touch and all staff complied with wearing masks. Definitely looking forward to coming back again to visit and would recommend it as a lovely spot to have food :)

For the last number of years we have holidayed abroad but this year we did the 'staycation' thing and all 5 of us travelled to Doolin, Co.Clare! There is so much to see and do and so many lovely local eateries too. One night we popped into Hotel Doolin for a bite. It was a lovely sunny evening and we availed of a table in the garden where we listened to the live music.

For someone who was a bit nervous venturing into public spaces post lockdown I was very reassured to see the staff following guidelines, socially distancing, sanitizing tables and wiping down menus between use. I was able to really relax.

The team were welcoming and friendly and Brian chatted away to us as he looked after our table. Once my halloumi salad and cocktail arrived I sat back and enjoyed the sun and music. It felt very Mediterranean ;-)

We've already decided that we will 'staycation' again next year, the kids (11, 8 and 5yrs) had a an absolute ball and already asking if we can go back to Doolin next year!

My boyfriend and I live in the U.S. and stayed at Hotel Doolin for a wedding in March. From the first email to receiving a parting gift of soda bread, our experience was wonderful. The staff go above and beyond: they were extremely responsive via email and helped me set up transport from the airport with very short notice and personally walked us into the cafe to point out breakfast items when we had overslept. The rooms are large for Europe and very comfortable and quiet. The cherry on top was the strong commitment to ecofriendly practices -- all the toiletries are large/refillable and there is hardly a trace of plastic. I could go on and on but Hotel Doolin was simply fab.

Myself and wife returned to the Hotel Doolin for our first year anniversary. We got married in the hotel so it holds a special place in our hearts. Like every other time we have visited we were not disappointed.

The staff are so friendly and always go out of their way to assist, whether it's helping you decide the best route for your afternoon hike or making sure you have a booking for your evening meal. We ate in Fitz's bar for dinner and despite the covid restrictions there was still a nice buzz about the place. The food was lovely and everything we had was very fresh, especially the halloumi salad which as a hit with my wife.

With regards to covid the hotel has got it covered. All the staff were wearing masks, the tables in the bar were properly spaced and there are hand sanitising stations spread throughout the hotel. There is something about Doolin that just always makes me smile and even with covid they're still managing to have a bit of crack. We'll be back guys!!

Myself & a friend booked in for two nights and have no hesitations in recommending it to other travellers. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful & accommodating in every way especially Leika in reception & Sissel in the dining room. They both went over and beyond their call of duty to make our stay as pleasant & enjoyable as it was. They are a credit to the hotel.
The breakfast was excellent. The hot food was cooked fresh, full of flavour and were very generous portions. Top marks for the evening food also!!
The rooms were extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. Bottled water & freshly baked treats were left in the room for our arrival. Fabulous touch.
We were also very impressed by the hotels effort to be environmentally conscious. Something other hotels & businesses should be forced to do.
Fantastic and very enjoyable stay, can’t wait to return. Well done Hotel Doolin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We happened upon this hotel restaurant by chance when looking for dinner options in Doolin. The food was delicious and we were treated to some great music by a local band while we ate. The attention of staff to cleanliness and hygiene is to be commended, in particular our waitress Eve who was pleasant, attentive and super conscientious. The toilets were really clean and included some lovely Voya hand soap. If you are looking for places to dine in Doolin I would recommend that you this place out.
