Detailed Reviews
We loved this place! It's an immaculate, comfortable, nicely designed, easy to access BnB right in the center of Doolin, with lovely views of nearby farmland and located only 5 minutes from the Doolin Pier and 12 minutes from the Cliffs of Moher. You can walk 100 meters to Gus O'Connors pub and other pubs and restaurants in the area. The owners were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was hearty. We had a family room for a couple and an adult daughter and it was great to have plenty of space in our room. Even had a refrigerator, lots of towels, soaps, coffee/tea in room. Delightful.

Just back from a lovely 3 day stay at The Lodge, Doolin.
Fantastic place!
Originally, I had booked a room for 2 adults and 3 kids.
A family room with 2 double beds and one single.
The day before we arrived, I called the owner, Deirdre to see if I could bring another adult, which was no problem.
Not only that, when we arrived Deirdre actually upgraded us to a bigger room with 3 double beds, free of charge.
I found Deirdre to be very friendly and helpful over our stay.
The rooms are spacious and clean, with comfortable beds. There is a handy fridge in the room too.
Our room also had a porch area for hanging coats, bags and leaving wet shoes.
Always lots of hot water and lots of plenty of clean towels supplied.
A fantastic base to explore Doolin, would highly recommend we’ll definitely be back to The Lodge in Doolin again.
Thanks for a great weekend!

Decided last minute to spend the night in Doolin, was delighted when we got a room at The Doolin Lodge, very centrally located. Room was spotless and the shower was the best we've had on our road teip, powerful and hot. Anyone travelling around will appreciate that 😁

We were a family group of seven and we spent 5 nights at The Lodge in the building with five ensuite bedrooms. This review reflects both pros and cons with our stay.
Pros:
It is in a beautiful location and within walking distance of the village and the stunning Cliff walk.
The owners left bread, milk, smoked salmon, and lots of other snacks for us which we very much appreciated.
Layout of the property was good with lots of parking spaces.
The house was pleasantly warm with plenty of hot water and high pressure showers.
Short walk to local bars and restaurants.
Owners and staff were very helpful and polite.
Cons:
The kitchen appliances are very old and in need of replacement.
The under counter refrigerator was missing the freezer door and the icebox itself was badly in need of defrosting. Items left in the top shelves froze. There was another small refrigerator without a freezer section in the hallway.
The oven vibrated loudly when in use and the hob was rusted. The dishwasher did not always clean the dishes adequately perhaps because some of the plates were too big and caught the rotor arm.
The kitchen and some of the bathrooms seemed to be in need of a deep cleaning. The fabric chair seats in the bedrooms were quite badly stained.
The shower in room 44 did not drain properly and overall the tiles were not clean.
There were only 4 armchairs in the combined living/dining area and no coffee tables so drinks had to be placed on the floor.
We did not have the correct number of cereal bowls and wine glasses but the owners were responsive and delivered them promptly.
One toilet did not flush correctly but was fixed when we requested it.
There is no washer or dryer in the property (but the owner kindly offered to dry clothes for us when we got caught in a shower.)
The Lodge felt more like a hostel than a quality accommodation.
The internet was down for the last two days of our stay and the owner advised that the router needed rebooting. Unfortunately the woman at reception did not know this. The owner advised that we should have called him.
Overall the property needed a much deeper cleaning prior to our stay.

The Lodge is located a decent walk to Doolin which is convenient since parking in Doolin during the day is difficult. The bathrooms were not clean. Mold on the shower doors and the ceiling vent fan was caked with dust. Would not recommend The Lodge simply because the cost did not match the condition of the facilities. It should have been much much cleaner. The breakfast was good.

Dear rband100, Firstly, we were quite happy to keep your cancelled reservation from 2020 for you, at the same rate, we were under no obligation to do so, but you're very welcome. You make it sound like you inspected all the bathrooms here. To my knowledge, you were in one, so to generalise about all our bathrooms seems somewhat strange? There is no evidence of mold anywhere in any bathroom, yes, there was a slight bit of dust on the ceiling fan but that was looked after as soon as I read your review, thank you for pointing it out. I'm glad you enjoyed your breakfast and sorry that a little dust on a ceiling fan had such an effect on you. Kind Regards, Deirdre and Niall

The reception area almost always closed and locked, including when we arrived at 3 pm. When we came back later, someone showed us our room and a common area with a kitchen "for all the guests." The advertised wifi never worked; I saw that the reception area was unlocked, and went to ask about it. There was another person whom I took to be another guest, but no one behind the desk. I was fiddling with my phone, trying to get some wifi, so he asked if I was able to get wifi. I said no, never since we'd arrived the day before. He said "I suppose I should reboot the router." He looked away, and did nothing. We stopped in a nearby town and picked up some things to eat in the common room (no chairs or table in our room.) But the common room was locked. Later, someone was behind the reception desk and told us it had been rented. There was a kettle in the room, but the cord was too short to reach any outlet, unless you put it on the floor. We stayed 2 nights; the room was never tidied, not trash emptied. There was only one towel rack (not heated) so the towels stayed wet. On the positive side, we were out of the wind and rain.

Hi Kathleen, thank you for taking the time to review, I’d like to clarify a couple of points you raised. We are not actually a hotel, we are a family run business which means we look after our children as well as running our business. Our reception is open every morning until noon and every afternoon for check in from 3-7pm as per your information, sincere apologies that we were a few minutes late when you arrived and must have missed you, it’s a shame you didn’t wait for a moment. We were probably finishing the school run! 'Almost always closed and locked is a tad dramatic' You booked a B&B room, not a self catering apartment therefore you didn’t have access to any cooking facilities, it would be very unusual to have use of a hotel/B&B kitchen? The guest lounge was only available the first night you stayed, as explained it was booked by a private party on your second evening. Our other guests were perfectly understanding of this, we thought you were too, at the time, so again my apologies. The position of the tea/coffee station in your bedroom is where it has been located for approx 5 years now and it has never been an issue before. The plug is right by it, and normally left plugged in, I even checked before I wrote this in case by some mystery something had happened the plug socket and yes, it's still there and it’s all good! The TV is also plugged in there. Both are working. Mobile phone and WiFi coverage are usually quite good here, but like all rural west of Ireland, there’s an occasional WiFi glitch, especially in stormy weather. I can only assume it was another guest you spoke to in reception, there was only myself and my daughter looking after reception during your stay. Obviously, we dont sit there 24/7, we are always running about, sorting laundry etc and looking after guests I can’t comment on your cellphone usage. Housekeeping for guests is on request for more than one night stays, (a lot of people don’t want anyone entering their room) which is why towels for at least 2 nights are always included. Your room sleeps 5 so you had enough towels for 5 people for 2 nights, however, by all means, you could have asked for more towels when you spoke to my daughter. We have plenty! We are always striving to improve so will certainly take your feedback, where relevant, on board. Kind regards, Deirdre & Niall

This was our third trip to Doolin and the third stay at our favorite place there. Thankful the same family runs the place. Its a perfect place, large room, perfect for a family of three adults in our favorite Ireland town. At breakfast, the team of sibling servers with their mother as the chef simply made us feel welcomed and like family. We love this place and will certainly return.

They were so poorly mannered, she asked us for a 200€ deposit which we wouldn’t be allowed to check in without, she did not communicate this properly before. When we were checking there was in no one was in the “reception”, we rang her to come and meet us for the keys and when we told her the description on the property said there would be someone in reception from 8am to 8pm she said “how well you saw that and didn’t see there would be a deposit “. And also she walked in to the apartment with her own key.

Further to your somewhat inaccurate and unfair review of our premises, I wish to clarify the actual facts for the readers. For a business that has been closed for most of the past year, it is deeply upsetting to see a person from the locality launching an unfair and personal attack on us, but I will attribute this to your immaturity as a guest and your own poor manners. The fact of the matter is that you and your friends received all of your booking details along with check in and check out procedures, you chose not to read these and decided that it was my fault that you didn't have any of this information when actually you had it all. You were asked to make contact and arrange an arrival time so that someone would be here to meet you, a fairly simple request one would imagine, I have all the information that was sent to you from my end, and would you believe that every single one of our other guests to date who received the exact same information have all managed to make the appropriate check in arrangements, but I suppose it's they who have been doing it all wrong, not you. Our reception is contactable from 8am to 8pm, I'm sorry that you took this to mean that there would be someone waiting there for 12 hours just for you and your friends to arrive, my attempt at humouring you on this, clearly went over your head....... Oh and finally, we both know that nobody other than yourselves used a key to your apartment during your stay. Hopefully you will go on to use this new account you've set up to perhaps promote the hospitality industry instead of tearing it down. Wishing you well.... Deirdre & Niall

We (2 parents, 1 teenager, 2 dogs) stayed in Apartment 6 for 2 nights in mid July. The accommodation is perfect for a short stay in Doolin - it is less than 5 minutes walk to the pubs and restaurants in the village. The apartment was very clean and the dining room was very handy for breakfast which could be purchased for a reasonable fee.

Overpriced accommodation with dingy walls, low -shelf products, dusty rooms and dingy walls.
The property is well located, it doesn’t have great views as some other reviewers describe. The breakfast was ok and the staff was friendly.

Thank you for taking the time to review. I had to google the word dingy as you had used it twice....it says 'gloomy or drab' I will have to inform Dulux paints that their Colour of the Year 'Tranquil Dawn' which is in the bedroom you stayed in, must be making alot of homes dingy!! Unless you are talking about the outside of the building which is cladded in natural limestone and very beautiful however, anywhere will look gloomy on a rainy day! Yes, our Lodge is excellently located in the middle of Doolin village yet surrounded by green fields. You mentioned views, yes, they are stunning, however, you didn't mention that you booked your own room online and booked a downstairs family room that is clearly advertised as NOT having a view........the photo you included as 'the view', you took on the way into our upstairs dining room, had you turned your camera the other way, you would have got the beautiful view up the hill with the horses, as others have done. You also should have taken a photo of the individually wrapped soaps and shampoos etc in your bathroom. Regarding your issue on pricing, as I mentioned you chose to book a large family room for 4 people, so yes, it will be expensive if only 2 guests, but again, you made that decision yourself. I hope I have given a more balanced view, to the reader, on your stay here. Best wishes, Niall and Deirdre
