Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed two nights at the hostel in the deluxe double room with its own entrance. It was perfect, very cozy and I loved the sky light. The shower is one of those with a push button you have to hold/keep pushing or the water turns off, not unexpected at a hostel but FYI. The host was great, very helpful and informative. I was able to do a load of laundry for 5 euro, and they had a selection of breakfast items for 1 to 3 euros each. Nice location, and I had a very nice stay here.

I stayed in Allie River hostel as a family of 5 in an ensuite room. The room was spotlessly clean & beds very comfortable. The hostel has a large, well equipped kitchen to use for self catering. You may also purchase breakfast for a minimal cost. The hostel staff are very friendly & helpful with advice on where to visit/eat in the area.
I will visit again & would recommend the hostel to family & friends.

Lovely sheltered campsite, alongside a river which was great for the dog. Pet friendly place obviously which was great and they limit the amount of dogs onsite which is also appreciated. As a camper you have access to all the hostel facilities which are great: showers, sinks, charging station and the most functional well laid out hostel kitchen I've come across. Staff are super friendly and helpful. It's a well oiled machine in terms of the processes to use the shared facilities which appealed to the organiser in me! I will definitely be returning here for another visit. 100% recommend.

If you are absolutely desperate for a place to sleep then this could be a great option. But if you can stay anywhere else I would. Dirty towels. Uncomfortable beds, small covers, toilet barely flushes. Also they want you to mop the bathroom which I don’t mind but there was a bucket already filled with previous water which really grossed me out. The fire alarm started going off randomly in the morning so everyone got a nice alarm clock. Personally if I ever had to come back here I would use there camping area in the back and would have rather stayed in my tent.

Dear Guest At the Aille River, we take great care to offer our guests the best possible experience while with us and we have been in operation for over 30 years and we come highly recommended by all the travel sites with high approval rates as stated by our many many guests. I can only point out in reply to your comments that all our towels are washed and dried every day and are presented to our guests as such, always and are of high quality, I must completely refute this assertion from you, it simply did not happen! We have received many many commendations on the quality of our beds and their quality is of a range that is above what is usually on offer for this sector and we observe a high-quality control on all facets of our business. You say small covers, what does this mean? all beds duvets etc are covered with the correct bedding covers as required. All toilets flush properly at all times, after your comment I personally went around to flush all toilets and found them operating correctly. I am assuming that you stayed in a private group dormitory ensuite and as such as a courtesy we leave a clean mop and clean bucket for the guests in the room to clean up any shower water which may have come onto the floor while the guest is towelling off so that the next person in the group can use the showers in a safe and clean and hygienic manner and this has been appreciated by many guests over the years. If you had an issue with that you could have brought it to our attention. On the morning of your stay, the fire alarm did go off around 9.30 am and the staff on duty dealt with this incident rapidly and discovered that a guest used a lot of spray deodorant while in the bedroom. This matter was dealt with in a professional and diligent manner with minimum disruption to our guests, it was unfortunate and does happen once or twice a year but is outside of our control. Regards Robert Shannon (Owner)

We stayed at the hostel for one night to see the cliffs of Moher and the village of Doolin and it was a cheaper option than the rest of the places around the village so we didn't expect to many luxuries. The room was small but clean and a bit basic with no desk space or a mirror for my wife to use. They don't have a kettle in the room but they have a communal area for cooking and making drinks and a place to do the laundry on site. It's in a great location and only a 10 minute walk away from the village centre with the pubs and shops

I camped here with my 14 year old son and we both found it very friendly and comfortable. The space for camping is sheltered from the elements and feels safe and secure. It is great to have use of the kitchen and hot showers for free and the communal area would be fantastic if the weather wasn't good - fortunately we didn't need to use it much. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities very clean. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Amazing atmosphere in a location that is absolutely beautiful!
The place itself was clean and cozy. We used the bathrooms/showers and kitchen which are very well maintained and following the covid restrictions.

The hosts were also very welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home!

Thank you Adva and Robert!

For 105 Euro per night, we shouldn't have to pay extra for a towel or cup of coffee. I feel like they really took advantage of us with the price and fees for extras. You can do far better someplace else. Maybe even find a nicer staff or a place with more room in what is described as a "family" suite. There were three of us and we could barely all stand at once - let alone fit luggage.

My family and I stayed in this hostel recently. The location was fabulous, rooms were decent size and well heated however these are the few positives of this hostel. Upon arrival, the ‘receptionist’ was extremely rude. Unfortunately the bathroom was covered in dust and there was constant banging from the room above. The receptionist had no time for small talk- the keys were handed to us and that was it. No explanation of rooms or facilities. It is a shame that the staff here are so rude as the area and location of the hostel are beautiful. A little friendliness and cleanliness would’ve gone a long way- due to how unapproachable the staff were we did not come forward with these issues at the time. In future we will check staff reviews before booking.

I had a great week on a well-sheltered camping pitch, close to the bathroom and kitchen facilities. The shared areas are kept spotlessly clean and contain everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Avda and the staff were full of tips and advice to make for a fabulous holiday.
