If you are absolutely desperate for a place to sleep then this could be a great option. But if you can stay anywhere else I would. Dirty towels. Uncomfortable beds, small covers, toilet barely flushes. Also they want you to mop the bathroom which I don’t mind but there was a bucket already filled with previous water which really grossed me out. The fire alarm started going off randomly in the morning so everyone got a nice alarm clock. Personally if I ever had to come back here I would use there camping area in the back and would have rather stayed in my tent.

Response from robert shannon, Owner at Aille River Hostel Lodge & Camping

Dear Guest At the Aille River, we take great care to offer our guests the best possible experience while with us and we have been in operation for over 30 years and we come highly recommended by all the travel sites with high approval rates as stated by our many many guests. I can only point out in reply to your comments that all our towels are washed and dried every day and are presented to our guests as such, always and are of high quality, I must completely refute this assertion from you, it simply did not happen! We have received many many commendations on the quality of our beds and their quality is of a range that is above what is usually on offer for this sector and we observe a high-quality control on all facets of our business. You say small covers, what does this mean? all beds duvets etc are covered with the correct bedding covers as required. All toilets flush properly at all times, after your comment I personally went around to flush all toilets and found them operating correctly. I am assuming that you stayed in a private group dormitory ensuite and as such as a courtesy we leave a clean mop and clean bucket for the guests in the room to clean up any shower water which may have come onto the floor while the guest is towelling off so that the next person in the group can use the showers in a safe and clean and hygienic manner and this has been appreciated by many guests over the years. If you had an issue with that you could have brought it to our attention. On the morning of your stay, the fire alarm did go off around 9.30 am and the staff on duty dealt with this incident rapidly and discovered that a guest used a lot of spray deodorant while in the bedroom. This matter was dealt with in a professional and diligent manner with minimum disruption to our guests, it was unfortunate and does happen once or twice a year but is outside of our control. Regards Robert Shannon (Owner)

I stayed in Allie River hostel as a family of 5 in an ensuite room. The room was spotlessly clean & beds very comfortable. The hostel has a large, well equipped kitchen to use for self catering. You may also purchase breakfast for a minimal cost. The hostel staff are very friendly & helpful with advice on where to visit/eat in the area. I will visit again & would recommend the hostel to family & friends.

I camped here with my 14 year old son and we both found it very friendly and comfortable. The space for camping is sheltered from the elements and feels safe and secure. It is great to have use of the kitchen and hot showers for free and the communal area would be fantastic if the weather wasn't good - fortunately we didn't need to use it much. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities very clean. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Amazing atmosphere in a location that is absolutely beautiful! The place itself was clean and cozy. We used the bathrooms/showers and kitchen which are very well maintained and following the covid restrictions. The hosts were also very welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home! Thank you Adva and Robert!

Robert was a trojan at getting us into his parking lot. We were misunderstanding what "the next village" meant and drove past his sign, his very big sign, several times looking for the next village. Apparently the bridge in the middle of town is the bridge in between the towns. After Robert talked us through this we arrived at a pleasant house with lots of young people and even some oldies like us. The room was cramped, as you would expect in a hostel, but we had a private bath and met and conversed with several interesting people.

I’ve been traveling around Ireland and this, by far, has been my favorite thus far. It’s so homey and cozy! The owner is sooooooo nice! He keeps that hostel so clean! I was supposed to leave for Killarney today but loved it here so much I decided to stay another day! Very close to the cliffs and the Doolin Cave. The pubs are wonderful and all the people are so welcoming and friendly. I HIGHLY recommend this hostel!!!!!

I literally stood over the bridge by the cottage and teared up. The beauty of this place is truly difficult to comprehend and take in. The cottage was amazing. It was a small room but it was very clean and very comfortable. Robert (I think that was his name) was the first person to greet us with a smile and welcome us. From the moment we stepped in, it was quiet and cozy with the fireplace and different people tending to their own activities. They have board games, tables to just sit and chat and you can cook breakfast for a very low fare in the morning. The cottage is surrounded by sounds of a rushing river, views of green grass and animals grazing. The locals are so very friendly and the McGann's pub was such an Irish gem! You have to go there. My heart is still full at the experience I had here. Don't miss out on this opportunity. I encourage you take a deep breath and enjoy the beauty you will be surrounded by both inside and outside the cottage.
