I have just returned from Doolin, and a two-night stay at Cullinan's. They're easy to find, and an easy walk to the Pubs and internet cafe. The room was excellent: roomy and fresh. A sitting room overlooking the town and river provided a television and comfortable chairs for reading. Breakfast was in a bright and airy diningroom. It was generous and made-to-order. I recommend the cheese omlette. We had read that this was an award-winning restaurant. Now we know why! Our dinner at Cullinan's was delcious and beautifully presented. Carol was a delightful hostess, and we really felt as though we were relatives who had been invited for a visit. Highly recommend!

What a gem Cullinan's is for the tourist to Doolin, Ireland!!!!! My husband and I along with 3 other couples stayed there for 3 nights last week and found the experience most enjoyable. The food is magnificent and service is wonderful. The staff is not intrusive, but is available if you need them. We had an early morning ferry departure time for the Aran Islands and Carol and James prepared our breakfast early so we could meet the schedule set by the ferry!! One of our companions sprained her ankle and they kept our ice pack in their freezer for her use. Some B and B hosts are "so nice" that they get in your way. Carol and James are there when needed, but do not bother you. I talked with Carol about the reviewer who said she could not get to them by phone. The family was away for a couple of days celebrating one of their children's birthdays. Give them a break!!!! Most of our dealings were with Carol who is reserved, but I interpreted that as politeness and not indifference. The location of Cullinan's is perfect for walking to anything in Doolin and to several "neat" local shops and pubs. I would recommend this B and B and restaurant to anyone. York, SC USA

Of all the B&Bs we stayed at during our 16-day trip to Ireland, this was probably our least favorite. It was comfortable, the breakfast was delicious (try the lemon pancakes!), the rooms were clean and bright and the views of the river and fields are pretty, but we didn't feel as welcome here as we did at our other places. Carol, the owner, is polite, but not as friendly and warm as the other owners we'd met along the way. We never saw her husband, James. The walls between some of the rooms are very thin. My husband and I could hear my father snoring in the room next door to ours! Our first choice was Sea View House, but unfortunately they were all booked up, so we setttled for Cullinan's. I think I'll try Sea View next time.

Wow, what a travel surprise. This lodging gem, set on the creekside in Doolin, will really reward your choice.

Carol and James have put together a wonderful west Ireland experience for their guests. The rooms are large, plenty of windows for air and natural light, and large, well equipped bathrooms. Breakfast is served early and is a delicious affair. We had different items from the menu every day and they were all excellent to gourmet in quality. In addition to being a fabulous fiddle player, James is an artist in the kitchen.

There is no TV or radio available in the rooms, but they are not needed. From early breakfast, to touring the Burren, to magical musical nights at the pubs; well, if you need TV or radio there's a problem.

My only suggestion would be some way to heat the bathrooms. They are done in beautiful tile, but that tile tends to get a bit cold in the morning.

Doolin is an INCREDIBLE town---it's small, but it's got a large amount of personality. It's very close to the Cliffs of Moher (about a 10 minute drive, tops) and the Burren. Cullinan's was very easy to get to---James and Carol included a good map on their website, but I recognized their yellow house right away from the pictures from the site. Cullinan's is a very comfortable, homey guesthouse. It was nicely furnished and clean. We ended up in the last room of the house, the smallest, but it was still fine for us (a married couple) and our toddler. One thing they don't mention on their site is that they have TV in the room---a welcome surprise! They had a portable crib all set up for our daughter when we arrived. I found this guesthouse very child-friendly---James and Carol have three children of their own, between the ages of 6 and 11. Their daughters were so excited to see our daughter that they played with her while we ate dinner in their restaurant---so relaxing! For those who don't enjoy the company of children, let it be known that their children weren't running around the house, they were just in the TV room. Our meal at the restaurant was great. Be aware, restaurants in Ireland are PRICEY, usually about 20-25 euros per plate. Cullinan's was a great value for the money, though---the food was gourmet and carefully prepared. The service was great, too. The dining room looks out onto fields, and it is very serene. That night, while the Cullinan's eldest daughter kept and ear out for cries from our sleeping daughter, we ventured out to one of the town's three pubs for a drink and some music. Oh, it was wonderful. You really get a sense of true Ireland in Doolin---the pubs are the center of life there, and you get to meet many people. The walk back to Cullinan's was lovely---the town was dark and serene. I highly recommend travelling to Doolin and staying with the hospitable Cullinan family and enjoying the fabulous food. My husband commented that Cullinan's looked like the finest B&B in Doolin.

Our favorite spot. Our room was wonderful and overlooked the river. Beautiful view outside our full length windows. The breakfast was spectacular - try the pancakes. The owner was very accomodating and helpful. I can't wit to return.

I stayed at Cullinan's in early December 2005. The breakfasts were amazing and the owner's of the home were friendly and accomodating. I read hear that someone said Carol was not friendly. I see no basis for that comment and I am guessing that the people who wrote the review were difficult people. Carol went out of her way to prepare us an early breakfast when we had to catch an early flight to Shannon.

We stayed here for one night, check in was not until 4 pm and check out at 11. The room was freezing, (no.3). There was mould on the ceiling and I could feel the cold breeze coming in through the windows. Very disappointing for the price, and no breakfast included.

We stayed at Cullinans in Doolin on our last night touring the West Coast. Our smallish (clean and fully equipped) room overlooked the road opposite a newly built hotel, restaurant and bar. The better rooms are I assume in the annexe overlooking the river at the back of the guesthouse. We had dinner in Cullinans which was presented in a 'cheffy' way with possibly too many ingredients in each dish. The dining tables are also very close together - however it is a pleasant room and some may enjoy the 'buzz' of a busy restaurant. Again it was very crowded at breakfast.

Doolin is worth a visit for the cliffs, the opportunity to take a ferry to the Aran Islands and the music in various bars but it is very touristy, crowded and not as scenic as other places on the west coast.
