We found this small family-run hotel at the last minute due to a cancellation and were happily surprised to find it exceeded our expectations. It has a lovely welcoming and cosy feel on entering and the decor is a very pleasant period style. The food is the star here: really good quality and tasty. The dining room is charming and has nice views out to the Atlantic. The waiting staff are excellent. Our bedroom was a good size with a comfortable bed, however the TV was small (not a problem normally but during COVID-19 one might want to repair to the bedroom after dinner). The tour of the castle on the grounds by the hotel owner Declan is a treat. I have already recommended this hotel to family and friends.

This Country House is just spectacular. The views, staff, food and bedroom were second to none. The drawing room was a nice touch for when you want to read your book although with the amazing views, you will probably spend more time looking out the window! I have to just mention the food again, which was probably the best I have ever tasted

Gorgeous, stylish country house hotel with spacious, elegant rooms each affording splendid views of the beautiful hills and the sea. Excellent restaurant with attentive and friendly staff offers both a very enjoyable gourmet dining experience and delicious breakfast. Very good location for visiting the Burren, the cliffs of Moher and the Burren Way with nearby Doolin with very good lunch options. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay and can highly recommend it - excellent value for money!

Ballinalacken Castle Country House Hotel
We were welcomed by the largest field of wildflowers I’ve ever seen. They were planted to help support the honey bee population! We instantly fell in love!
This hotel is like coming home for a visit!
Located outside of Doolin, in the country a short (15min) drive to town.
The owner of the estate, Deklan (and his lovely wife Cecelia) have been wonderful stewards of this 1840s estate. It has been in the family since 1938. On the property us a 14th century castle ruin in which Deklan gives free tours to his guests every evening.
The bedrooms in the hotelare immaculate; polished, spacious, appointed with beautiful, high quality furnishings and linens. A coffee maker is a special treat.
The bay window provided outstanding views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Cliffs of Mohr, and a spectacular sunset.
The gourmet dinner ( not included) was a 5-Star meal. Locally sourced and made-from-scratch for under $60/2.
The included breakfast was cooked to order and taken in the cheery dining room.
The entire staff was friendly and so accommodating!
The only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

We stayed for two lovely nights in the brand new Wild Atlantic Way Suite with incredible views of Ballinalacken Castle on the hill and the Cliffs of Moher. The bed was so comfortable and the suite was spacious with everything you might need. If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful hotel that is nearby to attractions like the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands and Doolin - this is the perfect place. We ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant as well and it was delicious (dining room also has views of the cliffs and the castle), and the service is immaculate!

We stayed at Ballinalacken Castle hotel for two nights for our wedding anniversary,Everything from start to finish was just superb. A warm welcome from the fabulous owner Cecilia who checked us in and showed us to our room, which was amazing looking out over the Atlantic Ocean, the decor was beautiful, and the room completely COVID compliant as was the entire hotel.
This is a small intimate hotel, if it is a romantic break away your looking for, this is the place for you,the restaurant serves food akin to Michelin star restaurant, the seafood is excellent,an extensive wine list to compliment the menu and all at very affordable prices.
After dinner ramble across the lobby to the “Sitting room” and watch the sun~set over the ocean as it disappears behind Inis Oir,this was sheer tranquility and a must do when staying at the hotel.
Breakfast was fresh fabulous and cooked to order, served to us by Cecilia’s fabulous team,The grounds of the hotel are kept immaculately and all in all we had a wonderful stay.
I would recommend for couples/if you are planning a trip to the Aran Islands/ if you want a get away from it all/ or base yourself there for a few days and tour around the West of County Clare.
One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in and at very affordable prices.
Thank you to Cecelia and her team.

An amazing family run hotel. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and had a sitting area that had large windows looking out toward the Aran Islands. The morning was so clear we could see out to the island! Out the other windows was a view of the Cliffs of Moher. The breakfast room also had a choice of a view of the Cliffs or the castle that was on the grounds. Declan, the owner and innkeeper, gave us a private tour of the castle. My husband I just loved how quiet and peaceful the inn was- we didn't want to leave.

Highly recommend .Stayed with my husband and 9 month old baby in high summer. Cecelia provided crib no extra charge, double checked safety of crib great attention to detail and lovely pics warm welcome. Stayed in Inís Mór suite very comfortable, spacious and classic design.
Beautiful ocean view from bedroom, reasonable price. Excellent restaurant that catered to our plant based diet (I did email in advance) food was fantastic. Even got a vegan “full irish” that was absolutely delicious.
Beside Doolin centre close to caves and cliffs of moher, Blarney castle etc. Free wifi. Fantastic bar and lounge area.
After check out we lounged in the lovely garden with drinks on the house and enjoyed the views of the castle and fine weather. Proper traditional Irish establishment with a modern touch from the kitchen) vegan food in co. Clare!!
Well worth a visit! I would personally advise booking directly as that’s what I always do. Saves time and hassle (and possible money)
Pic is view from Inís Mór room.

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel, which is outside Doolin and surrounded by fields of grass and wildflowers. The view of the sea and Aran Islands is spectacular from there. Declan, the owner, was the perfect host and his staff was excellent. The freshly cooked scones for breakfast were outstanding and we chose to eat on site for two nights of our stay. A tip: the lamb dish is incredible.

The bed was firm and very comfortable, the room was larger than expected, and we were very happy that we stayed there. We would easily choose it again.

The location was a big plus, as it was easy to go walking on the back roads around the hotel and it's an easy drive from there to the Cliffs of Moher. It was a 5 minute drive to the Doolin Ferry over to the Aran Islands, a trip I highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ballinalacken! The staff were very hardworking and dedicated and kind - even shipping an item left behind! Love that there is an old-timey bar in the hotel (great for an after dinner whiskey or a sunset gin and tonic on the picnic benches outside). Loved also the castle and the daily tour. They had loads of parking! Excellent breakfast with both hot and cold options. The dinner options were also very tasty ( tho admittedly on the pricey side, worth it if day - quality was very good). Would recommend eating there one night but then also trouncing into Doolin for a night at the pubs. Would highly recommend Ballinalacken for your trip!
