I can't comment on the rooms but I met some friends here for a meal on a weekday evening. The menu had a wide choice plus specials. I had a lamb burger with feta cheese & cant wait to return for another. We all enjoyed our meals immensely & will certainly be returning. It had a lovely friendly atmosphere &...

Stayed here for a wedding in early November. Hotel is a little dated in places but it's clean, staff were very friendly and made lots of effort to make my friend's day special. Excellent food at the wedding breakfast. Ask for rooms away from the road if you struggle to sleep without noise.

Visited this hotel for lunch twice recently, there are a good range of choices from lighter lunches to main meals, several imaginative veggie options, a rare find. The food is clearly freshly prepared, beautifully presented and tastes great! Friendly and efficient service, the place itself is traditional in its decor but I'd much rather have lunch here than some of...

We decided to treat our mums this evening, we ordered 3 prawn salads and one ham salad. They were very poor, our plates looked like a compost heap there was that much green on them, a little tomato and a small bowl of coleslaw between three of us. There was not a lot of thought went into them. Would not...

Stayed for 2 nights in July for a wedding. Room was well equiped. Old style rooms and modern bathrooms. Room was spotless. Breakfast was lovely. Wedding reception food was great- large portions and really enjoyed the steak. Bar staff were great as on both nights we all stayed late in the bar and it was no trouble for staff.

Stayed here whilst attending a wedding, our room was one of the bridal rooms which included a Four Poster Bed, room was a good size with plenty of space to relax. Hotel is situated out of Gretna and is probably still in England as it is the southern side of River Sark, a mere technicality if you wanted to make...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located on the Scottish / English border, Gretna Green is world famous for its runaway marriages and in the mid nineteenth century there was much rivalry between the various marriage house proprietors ... The Gretna Chase Hotel was built by John Murray, an extremely successful businessman in the marriage trade, and tenant of Allison's toll-bar. Completed in 1856, Murray built the hotel opposite the toll-bar. It proved very popular with clients, being the first in the area to offer stabling for horses. Today, The Gretna Chase Hotel offers modern amenities, but retains much of its original character. All bedrooms have pleasant views of the surrounding countryside, and public rooms are furnished in a style in-keeping with the age of the hotel. Fully licensed, privately owned and completely supervised by the owners, this small but extremely comfortable hotel offers the discerning guest a carefree informality away from city pressures. We would be delighted to show you around the hotel by appointment , to highlight all the facilities we have to offer and discuss your personal requirements. ... more   less
