Ballyvolane House is an authentic historic Georgian House built in 1728. Six luxurious bedrooms with huge comfy beds, crisp linen, fluffy towels and big baths you can stretch out in. Delicious home-cooked country house cuisine served in the grand dining room. Glamping during the summer months. Breakfast served till noon. Free wifi throughout the house. Vast gardens and woods on the estate. Salmon fishing on the river Blackwater. Fly fishing school. Stocked trout lakes on-site. Tennis court. 7-a-side soccer pitch. Croquet. Badminton. Woodland walks. Help feed the farm animals after breakfast - pigs, ducks, hens and pigeons. Dog friendly. Lots to do in the local area and we are always delighted to help plan day trips. Also, Ballyvolane House has a distillery in the farmyard where Bertha's Revenge Gin is distilled.

Thank you for our wonderful stay at your gorgeous hotel. It is such a pleasure to find a hotel that you always look forward to returning to, and that is Ballyvolane House. From the minute you arrive you are treated with great friendliness and care by the Green family. The house and gardens are delightful, the food delicious and their very own Bertha’s Revenge Gin distilled and bottled on the property is fantastic! Looking forward to a return visit to Ballyvolane as soon as we can.

Booked this hotel based on trip advisor dog friendly list reviews, twice we lost the booking to covid in October and January before finally getting here in July. On booking the hotel were straight back looking to confirm the details of kids added and how many evenings we were dining in the restaurant. On arrival we were warmly greeted and given the key to our room, there are only 6 bedrooms so finding ours was a synch, at 25 sq metres plus a 10 square metre bathroom it was huge, comfortable and excellently furnished. We ate the restaurant on all three evenings, the food is simple, accessible but of the highest quality, the covid measures are also exceptional, only 3 tables (5-11 people in total) in a dining room that could accommodate 30-40 in a city restaurant. The fit out of…

Ballyvolane is a genuine five star location - the guest experience, the fact there are just the six rooms, the quality of the cooking and overall service (the Manager has worked at the Mandarin Oriential in HK) sets it apart from a lot of places in Ireland. It's been well recognised as a beacon in the hospitality industry, and while it's above average in price, I have to say it feels worth every penny. Will definitely return.

This was everything we wanted on this visit. We enjoyed the extensive gardens, seeing the chickens, gin distillery on site, donkeys, ducks and their own veg garden. Dinner was really interesting, on an huge antique dining table. We were the only ones there that night. Fireplaces lighting in all rooms. Great reading materials in the lounge, on comfy couches. Room was really comfortable.

Spent two nights here to just get a change of scenery. Well worth it classic Irish house with old world features. Bedrooms with classic bathrooms. Not all with showers. Makes it authentic. Has glamping and wedding /conference facilities but these do not impinge on the house. Dining normally at a large communal table but with covid separate tables but didn’t detract from the ambience. Jonathan the manager made us feel welcome and gave us a tour of the Bertha’sRevenge distillery which is going from strength to strength. They are even producing a hand sanitizer called herd immunity which shows their entrepreneurial spirit! Grounds are spectacular with ample room for walks. A large walled garden where they grow fruit and veg for the table plus chickens and pigs also used in the…

I am recommending 100% this place for a sort holidays with kids. They were very nice and able to adapt to our family. The kids can feed the pigs an chickens in the morning. The gardens were perfect to run and explore... Thanks you very much for these two special days in a such difficult times as we are living!

We recently spent 2 nights in Ballyvolane house as the some of the first guests since lockdown. Whereas we were expecting some teething issues, the facility and service was absolutely flawless. From the moment we arrived we were made feel right at home. The house is stunning and the surrounds make it ideal for random strolls and exploring (flowers and veg in the walled garden, a football pitch, some donkeys, chickens and pigs and some croquet for those sunny days). We got a tour of the Bertha’s Revenge gin distillery from Justin which was what attracted us in the first place. The team at Ballyvolane we’re amazing. There to give you some background to the house, make recommendations and keep your drink topped up. The highlight for me was the food. Make sure to avoid eating…

Ballyvolane House is a perfect mix of classic ambiance mixed with modern notions of farm to table dining. We stayed one night in mid-March, just before the coronavirus shut down Ireland and the rest of the world. My wife, our 15 year old son, our golden retriever and I were met at the door by the resident terriers, Stormy and Dumpling. Immediately thereafter we were met by Jonathan and welcomed in. The house is filled with antiques but also has a pleasant lived in feel. There were wellies by the door for guests to use to explore the grounds, and interesting books on the shelves that begged to be read by one of the several warm peat fires throughout the ground floor. The rooms were well appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. Jonathan and the rest of the staff were…

Staying at Ballyvolane House was one of the highlights of our trip through Ireland. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had been invited to a weekend dinner party with the most lovely people. The food was exquisite and the laughs were plentiful. The tour of the Bertha's Revenge distillery, the pigs and ducks on the property was outstanding. I only wish we had stayed longer than one night. Highly recommend!

Perfect for a wedding, house is wonderful but most of the time is spent in the "chapel" area in reclaimed barn, very cool, drinks in the garden, totally fabulous place to take photos, food excellent in one of the outbuildings and area for dancing and with a bar. Really wonderful location and great attention to detail. Top marks
