Excellent Hotel never disappoints. Food was very good in restaurant and lovely staff. The bar also serves food and is never dull. There is so much to explore in the area. With the famous Gaynors pub just a short walk away.
I have become somewhat of a regular there. I do a lot of salmon fishing in Connemara and I stay here quite often. The hotel itself is a busy one, but the abundance of friendly staff can easily cope. Rooms are very well kept, and the bathrooms are very modern in an old building. The portions of superb and fresh seafood are massive! Wake up in the morning and look out the window to see killary is amazing. Anne and Thomas in the bar are the best. When I checked out yesterday, I rebooked for July. Its a few minutes walk to the village, to go to Hamiltons bar for a lunch and pint.
Excellent, friendly and comfortable hotel. The rates are better than other hotels I have booked. We travelled as a group of 5 painters and the hotel were so accommodating- to the point of providing a room one of the very wet and rainy mornings so we had a view to paint. The staff checked in on us and offered coffee and cake. Everyone should experience the comfort and friendliness of this hotel and staff
Fish and chips is a basic, but it was refried to heat it at end of the lunch servings. Dreadful. Saturated in fat. Son had a steak however and it was good with fresh chips. Shows they can do better. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Stayed here on a Saturday night for a very reasonable £106 sterling for a room with the most stunning views with breakfast included. Staff were all friendly and food was very good . Room was large and with double doors leading to the balcony the views were amazing. Having read a previous review saying that the hotel was dirty I must say that any photo taken a few centimetres away would make any hotel look unkept but maybe this person should stay at home with their curtains closed as they don't seem to be able to find happiness....... Having stayed in many hotels I can honestly say that this hotel is well worth the price and you won't be disappointed....like I say some people expect 5 star facilities for 3 star prices ...you won't find a cheaper hotel in a stunning location in Ireland. …
Looking at all of these reviews, I wanted to give 5 stars also as the food is so good and the bar staff and Ola are so friendly! Situated in a beautiful part of Connemara, this hotel is well loved as you can see from the reviews. Unfortunately it has let itself down by hygiene. This area of huge importance is a real gripe with me if not addressed properly. I upgraded to a ‘de luxe’ room to have a little balcony and a fabulous view. Although it rained for our total stay, the view was always breathtaking. Our bed was made up daily and the towels changed. The towels are in need of an upgrade as are old and too small to call bath towels. The bedroom carpet was worn and very grubby and was in need of a good clean or better still, a change. I have attached photos of the areas that needed to be addressed. Reception staff were not very friendly or welcoming and the dining room staff (bar Ola) looked dishevelled and stood around chatting. I watched one of the lads pass the breakfast table, take a slice of cheese and shove it in his mouth! Honestly, I wanted to love this place but, unfortunately the dirt of the bathroom and bedroom is uncalled for. Having said all of that, I would stay again if the place had a revamp of the rooms.…
Staff were so friendly, welcoming and accomodating. We brought our dog and he was very happy with all the attention. Room was lovely, scenery was gorgeous and food was delicious. Highly recommend and would definitely return 👍
Im relatively local and have passed this door many, many times not even considering a visit. No reason just didnt bother. A silly decision on my part. We (3 & the baby) decided to stop for a coffe over the weekend and ended up having one of the nicest lunches in a long while in the area.. Mussels, Chicken Burger and a couple of desserts were fantastic. The service from the 2 ladies on the day was second to none... Visit.. Dont Pass...
Wow. What a lovely stay we had. The staff were all excellent and attentive. It would be wrong to name just one. First Class all. The food was second to none. Plenty of choice. Clean plates every time. Thank you Agnes and to all your staff for making us feel so welcome. We will return
I first stayed in the Leenane Hotel in October 2015 and have returned in 2017, 2018, 2019 and this year 2022 (with Covid could not in 2020 and 2021) This part of Connemara is my favourite part of Connemara and this Hotel is an alsolute Gem of a place, It has that feeling of old style hotel and you are made feel so welcome by Conor, Agnes, Irene, Thomas and all the entire staff they are incredible and work so hard to ensure your stay is enjoyable. The food at this hotel is out of this world and the bar and lobby area is just nice and relaxing and the rooms are excellent. You owe it to yourself to visit this gem in Connemara you will not be disappointed. Enjoy the West.
