Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unfortunately the landlords of this house do not do breakfast, hence the one star reduction. I was told that straight upon booking, so I knew what I let myself in for. And there is a Cafe right opposite where you get a reasonable breakfast for a reasonable price (12 €), so this did not matter too much to me. Otherwise there was nothing to complain about. The bed was very comfortable indeed, the room could be darkened very well by a blind and a curtain and was certainly big enough for one (very messy) person, everything was looked after and cleaned very well, and I found the landlord a very nice and knowledgeable person.

M. Corcoran was so kind and helpful. We liked the house, the bedrooms. Everything cosy and clean. It also was nice to have a little bar (with nice coffee in the morning) and a little shop next to us. So we had everything we needed for our overnight stay.

Awful experience. The owner was very rude. His wife seemed lovely but was allowed to interact from point of booking and during our visit. We paid full price advertised for b&b and no breakfast available. The rooms are so old and musty smell. Needs refurbishing. The shower did not work at all. It was impossible to turn the on switch. Noel the owner spoke to us like children giving us rules and unnecessary instructions from opening the door etc. Insisted on cash only payments. We were visiting enniskerry for family wedding. After we checked in we went across the road to hotel to join the reception. After 30 minutes the owner followed us into the hotel to tell us ‘under no circumstances “ were we to bring the key home. So very rude. Guests at the wedding heard and seen this bizarre behaviour. Which was very embarrassing as guests at the wedding. Check out was 1030 which was perfect yet owner was banging in the door at 920 to tell us we needed to be out at 1030. I would give one star for clean comfortable bed and location only. Would not recommend

Visited for a weekend with my wife. Warm welcome from the owner who was very helpful in advance of our visit and also during our stay. Unfortunately the breakfast was not available for the two days we stayed but there are a couple of lovely local cafes that provided a great breakfast. The B&B is an old style building and the décor, furniture and facilities are perhaps in need of some refurbishment. A harsher reviewer may have made more of an issue of these failings but it some ways it adds to the experience. If you are looking for accommodation with all the modern bells and whistles this is perhaps not the place for you but it suited us well and at €80 per night it provided us with a good base for our trip. Close to a bus route and a €17 taxi trip away from Jonny Foxes bar. The bus into Dublin takes about an hour.

I had to change my plans quickly and called Ferndale to see of they could put me up for the night at a moment's notice. I believe it was around 5pm, so certainly not usually possible. Noel and Josie were incredibly gracious and friendly, accommodating and warm, full of good advice and good cheer and sent me off with plenty of information about how best to enjoy the beauty of Enniskerry.

We had a wonderful stay at Ferndale. Josie was recovering from knee surgery so we didn’t see her often. Noel was an exemplary host. He made an excellent breakfast and there was always a good conversation with each meal. We loved the brown bread. Josie gave us the recipe and now my husband makes it almost once a week. Beautiful rooms and within walking distance of Powerscourt. Good place to have dinner across the street.

Thank you Elena for your kind remarks re your stay at Ferndale. It was a pleasure having you stay with us. I'm very pleased you have made the brown bread, and that it turned our well. Sometimes guests find it hard to get the coarse brown flour; I'm glad you were able to get it, as it makes nicer bread. Thanks again for your kind remarks, Kind Regards, Josie.

We stayed here. Owner was awful rude from the beginning. Had to order breakfast night before and no full irish available which is standard in Irish B&Bs. One of our room had mole in it. Breakfast next day had gone off butter and when asked for more toast was asked rudley what more. For 100 per room I would not recommend.

Response from ferndalehouuse, Owner at Ferndale B&B
Responded 30 Sept 2019
Hi Amanda, I,m sorry if the quality of our B&B was not up to your standard when you stayed with us .[I'm not sure what mole is; I checked and could not find it] Noel was on his own that morning as I have been recovering from knee arthroscopy and was not allowed to walk ; his nerves may have been slightly on edge. He is normally very chatty with the guests, but being on his own was under more pressure ; Sorry if he came across as rude. We normally ask people near the end of breakfast how much toast they would like, as we hate throwing out food. [ we eat only brown bread.] Regards, Josie C.

We hit gold!!! Our family had the opportunity to stay at Ferndale B&B and we loved it. The house was beautiful, the town was amazing and our hosts, Joel and Josie, made our stay absolutely magnificent. We enjoyed our daily, fresh breakfast. Did I mentioned the gardens!!!

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay in beautiful Enniskerry. Hosts Joel and Josie, and their son, went above and beyond for our family who stayed multiple nights here. The home is in immaculate condition with beautiful architectural details, and the rooms were spotless and accommodating. The breakfast each morning was consistent, elegant and delicious, and their large winding garden was a beautiful and serene place for any time of day, in addition to the entry way to the home. Our part of the family had 2 children, so we had a family room, and they were very accommodating for the children as as well. In addition to the hosts being so gracious they also were a wealth a knowledge on things to do while we were there. I would absolutely recommend staying here when visiting Enniskerry or surrounding areas! We also had other family occupy various of the other rooms and each was just as gorgeous as the others. All of us had a wonderful experience and cannot say enough about the quality of Ferndale House B & B, and the hosts.

Hosts Noel and Josie went out of their way to make us feel at home. Their garden is delightful and the B&B is next to everything. Their recommended walk to the Powerscourt Estate and gardens was a highlight, and breakfast this morning was great , with Noel's scrambled eggs the best ever.
