My room as a solo traveller was really nice and that was appreciated as sometimes you can be given smaller or shabby rooms. The dinner was good and plenty of social distancing, breakfast was tasty and plentiful and the woman who served it excellent and friendly, perfect! The building itself is lovely and is a very pleasant 20/25 minutes (max) walk over to Powerscourt Gardens, so its a great location. Am surprised to see all the bad reviews, all the staff were quite friendly, with the exception of one guy behind the desk a couple of times who wasn't rude, but looked positively miserable and disinterested-so maybe if I'd dealt with him this would be a different review! :) Will be back for sure anyway.

I would strongly urge people not to stay at this establishment. We had a horrendous experience, we actually left early the following morning & didn't stay for breakfast as we couldn't stay in the hotel any longer. We felt we were not welcome from the very first moment we stepped through the doors at SummerHill House until we left. We felt as if every time we asked or had a question we were a irritating the front of house manager, who was so incredibly rude & ignorant! I wouldn't recommend this for any type of stay, event, especially not a wedding, as this will potentially ruin the most important day of your life! Rooms were outdated & untidy, service was extremely poor from the general manager! In the current time were you need an escape, this is not the place. Look elsewhere. Don't book SummerHill House. STAY AWAY!!!! .

do not stay here. Absolutely horrendous experience and ruined our only night away. Disgusting treatment by staff and highly rude and obnoxious. Disgraceful and should not be tolerated. Treated like children. Anne is a disgraceful member of staff.

We booked very last minute as our travel plans abroad were cancelled due to the virus. The hotel surroundings, restaurant and bathrooms downstairs are beautiful. However our room was changed from the townhouse to the main part the hotel not sure what the difference is. But the bedroom was very disappointing to say the least. The paint was chipped off the walls. Lamp shades dented and the bathroom was awful. The enamel was coming off the bottom of the bath. The shower was difficult to to turn off and on. The bedroom door stuck. In order to close it you had to bang it shut. Which I wouldn’t be very nice for the other guests I’m sure. We were also left a plastic bag of paper cups and clean towels outside the door. We felt like convicts. The were only 2 plug sockets which weren’t anywhere near the bed. It made life a little difficult if u wanted to watch TV make some tea and charge your phone. The breakfast was very good and Renata our waitress was lovely, a real credit to the hotel. If they sorted the bedrooms out to match the rest of the hotel I would certainly recommend this place.
