From the aroma of dinner bread baking on arrival to the kitchen being open and welcoming for guests during their stay Moy certainly reflects being a true home from home. Dinner is an intimate affair in our conservatory restaurant being unobtrusive yet efficient service. Freshly picked herbs from the garden and locally produced produce all invigorate what is a gourmet dining experience to remember, and breakfast in the morning ensures guests to vow to return!

I just went to rebook and am dismayed to see Moy House has closed permanently. My husband and I stayed here a couple of years back and even though we also live in Co Clare we felt we were transported to a different part of the world . We have very fond memories of the place ; from the excellent food; relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and the freedom to roam around their gardens and green house admiring their pigs! It was a fabulous place !!

Run, don't walk to the Moy House in Lahinch, County Clare! It is conviently located less than one hour from Shannon airport so it is perfect for a first or last night in Ireland. We took the overnight flight from the States and arrived very early in the morning, and the Moy House was ready for our arrival. Our large, beautiful room was ready for us right away, fresh tea and bread was immeadiately brought to our room. They insisted that we have breakfast that morning, even though our package only included breakfast for the following day. It is a wonderful, beautiful home, and the staff is there to cater to your every need. Dinner is a must--a wonderful meal made to order in the intimate dining room. We cannot wait to return to Moy House on our next trip to Ireland!

Wow! What a place. My husband, three year old daughter and I just returned from here. This place is lovely. Let me start by saying that we stayed in some very nice places on our ten day visit, including Dromoland Castle, but Moy House was by far our favorite. We were warmly greeted by Nicholas (and Wolf the owner's german shepard) and shown around. Moy House sits all by itself so you can not walk to town but I can not see any reason why one would want to. We had no desire to leave. Our room was very large and beautifully decorated with a queen size bed for us and a sofa bed for our daughter. It was the most comfortable bed with the nicest sheets of our ten night stay in Ireland. There was also a sitting area with a coffeee table and couch. The view out of our room was breathtaking with an incredible unobstructed view of the ocean. What a sight to wake up to on your ten year wedding anniversary! The bathroom was also large with great towels and complimentary luxury toiletries (L'Occitane). I loved the antique style tub and shower and my daughter loved the antique style toilet with high tank and pull chain flusher. The dinner was unbelievable, probably the best we had on our trip. The presentation was perfect. There was a good choice of items from the menu as well as the wine list and the chef was kind enough to make a special dinner for our daughter. Breakfast was also very good with lots of fresh baked goodies, delicious coffee and a nice selection from the menu with unbelievable presentation yet again. The location is wonderful right on a hill overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed walking down to the sandy beach and spending time there. We loved the honor bar and had the weather not been as perfect as it was we would have enjoyed spending some time in the cozy bar room in front of the fire. The only item which would be a perfect addition to the Moy House would be a bench or two and a small table and chairs somewhere outside where you can sit and take in the beauty of the area. Let me say that I do not think Moy House is the right place for all children. This is a small, quiet, romantic inn and not a place for children to be running around. As a parent I think you need to consider your children and truly decide if they are the type that can sit through a formal dinner in a very intimate dining room as well as maintain voices and behavior in an intimate setting of rooms. We knew our daughter could and so it was very enjoyable for us. We were able to relax knowing we did not to have to worry that she was disrupting anybody's stay. But if your child is abe to do so and you feel comfortable with that we were very happy having our room (Kilfarboy) next to the dining room where she could go lie down and watch a movie (on our portable DVD player) while we savored our meal. We were also able to enjoy walking outdoors on the lawn after dinner with her in the room right there. Our only regret is that we only had one evening at this wonderful place but if we ever return to Ireland I can assure you that Moy House will be a stop for more than one night on our itinerary.

We arrived in Moy House yesterday for a two night stay and it's a beautiful place. On arrival we received a room upgrade at no extra cost and had muffins and coffee - it seemed very promising! We had dinner in a lovely seafood restaurant a few minutes ago and the house was warm and cosy on our return. Unfortunately that all ended at midnight......we had JUST fallen asleep when a group of golfers checked in to the rooms beside us. For the next two hours they stomped the (admittedly wooden) corridors, banged/clanged and clattered doors and spoke at the tops of their voices. From 2 am to 4 am there was a brief opportunity for sleep... and then they started again at 6 am!!! So first night down and NO SLEEP.... what was meant to be a relaxing, restorative stay has turned into an exercise in sleep deprivation :(
Hoping for better luck in day two. What was a wonderful experience has been ruined by the noise. ...

My husband and myself had the pleasure of staying 4 nights in this very special guesthouse. The service would match any 5 star hotel in the states. The staff catered to every need. Loved the staff. This is our third trip to Ireland and many things have changed with the introduction of the Euro. This is not one of them. This property is like stepping back in time when customer service meant something. We would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a romantic, pampered stay.

A very charming small hotel, with superior rooms and bathrooms. There just aren't very many options like this in Ireland. Usually the hotels or houses are small lovely and slightly quirky or grand but impersonal with nice rooms. Here you get the personal attention and charm with out having to give up any luxurious amenities. We did not have dinner there and can't comment on that part of the stay.

Also, we didn't have any people camping near the hotel when we stayed there.

This is a beautiful bed and breakfast with outstanding ocean views. "Bernie' is an outstanding host who caters to your every need. We stayed there on our last night in Ireland, and found that it was very convenient to Shannon airport, less than one hour driving time. It is also very close to the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. We would definitely stay there again.

Moy House is wonderful. We were treated like Royalty. We spent one night with our 21 year old sons and all four of us were in heaven. Cocktails in the parlor (pour your own on the honor system), dinner was fabulous and then we fell to sleep in the most beautful rooms with a view of the sea. Benadette Merry, our hostess could not have made us feel more comfortable. It is fairy tale home! Expensive but worth every penny.

My husband and I recently spent nine days touring Ireland and can honestly rank our stay at Moy House--especially in comparison of our stay the night before at Hayfield Manor--as utterly disappointing.

On the plus side, Moy House--as other reviewers have already indicated--is well located. It is within a short drive from the Cliffs of Mohr and its position overlooking the Liscannor Bay is breathtaking.

However, the house itself is shabby and overpriced. The room--the House's least expensive mind you--cost us roughly 320 USD (or 225 Euros) and was tiny and in poor condition. For example, the bathroom--which can barely fit a normal sized individual--did not have an outlet for a hair dryer. I had to resort to unplugging a lamp to haphazardly blow dry my hair as the cord would not reach the small mirror over the fireplace. Not to mention, that the bathroom products had expired. The shampoo had expired in 2006 (!) and the conditioner in 2007. Now I am not sure how much travel sized bottles of bathroom products cost, but one would imagine that at the price the hotel is charging that they could afford to replace them yearly. Moreover, the only computer attached to internet access was in the hotel's management office. The house has another computer in the "reading room" but it appears that again springing for wireless access throughout the house or even just for that additional computer would break their bank. Finally, on a number of occasions I was forced to hunt down the ever elusive staff to request use of the computer in the management office (to double check our flight information) or to rent a DVD.

In comparison, the Hayfield Manor had cost us roughly 225 USD (or 159 Euros) and the Shelbourne in Dublin was 187 USD or 130 Euros and in both cases the rooms were more than double the size, the bathroom luxurious and enormous (with non-expired bathroom products) and the staff was professional and constantly on hand.

Thus, while my husband and I immensely enjoyed our stay in Ireland, our only regret was not having stayed another night at Hayfield Manor or at least negotiating the Moy House down to a price that is in line with their services and rooms. My suggestion 115 Euros.

I booked a weekend in Moy House for the June bank holiday- the Moymor suite-2 b&b & 1 dinner ! We arrived Fri. evening- our room was disappointing- dimplex radiator in room, wardrobe doors and drawer didn't close, some furniture shabby and window exteriors in need of painting. We couldn't open any windows in the bedroom or bathroom ! The same girl checked us in as served our meal- the 5 course tasting meal. The meal was disappointing, 3 savoury courses and 2 deserts. Our main course of steak seemed to have been cooked a little earlier . We were the only diners that evening , a dimplex radiator was again in the dining area - it proved useful to keep the door open ! The Honest bar had no beer, if you wished to have beer you had to go down the spiral stairs into the kitchen and get same from fridge! I asked the lady serving could she open the windows in our room, she said she would, however on our return later that evening, our room had not been turned down and no windows open. Breakfast was very good and afterwards I told the manageress about the lack of turn down and windows not opened. A half bottle of champagne, a few chocs and toiletries were left in our room as an apology. The room was turned down that evening and night cap as listed on room spec provided. On the morning of departure we sat in bar with 2 other couples, the fire was not lighting or even cleared out , there was no music - a complete lack of atmosphere. On payment of our bill I was not asked anything about our stay.
We would not go back to Moy House and we would not recommend it to anybody.

Unfortunately we stayed here as part of our tour around Ireland and all the bookings were done by a tour company so we didn't do the booking ourself.
