In short, the hotel is ok. There are things for kids to do (playground, putt putt, swim) and food/drink on site. However, this hotel has no air conditioning, no screens in the window so opening the window is fine if you want bugs flying in, decor is a bit dated, no iron or hair dryer in room and you have to walk down a long hallway to get to the main elevator to go to your room on the upper floors. Staff at front desk is friendly. Service in the pub on site (Shannigans) is pretty slow and friendly enough to do their job but doesn’t try to be overly friendly or speedy. We’re not happy or upset with our stay, just wanted to mention things people should know if considering staying here. That said, we would stay somewhere else in the future.

We are just home after a one stay stay-wish it was longer! Great location. We found the location spot on for many tourist destinations. The grounds around the hotel and the castle were beautiful. The lake walk was magical. The children enjoyed the playground, the mini golf, two visits to the pool and a quick visit to the indoor play centre. The staff were mostly very good. Especially the breakfast servers, the play centre girls and the pool staff. All genuinely caring and thoughtful. We didn't eat in the evening there, but the breakfast was excellent. Pastries so fresh and that cake with the berries was really good. Thank you for making our short break (and only holiday this summer!) so memorable, it meant a lot to our family.

Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel recently, very impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and professionalism of all the staff we dealt with, in particular Orla at reception and Aoife in the restaurant. Was left somewhat dissatisfied by the play facilities however, noticing that it was slightly disorganised and lacked proper management. All in all a very pleasant stay at the hotel, would recommend.

I have just had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful hotel in such a beautiful setting. I was attending a wedding at Dromoland Castle which is just a short walk away. The hotel is perfect in many ways, the rooms are very large with plenty of room to move around. The large bed was very comfortable and the towels and linen were great ! I had lunch in Shannigan's Gastro Pub which is within the hotel building. I'd like to mention Rouen (not sure if I have spelt his name correctly) who was very friendly and kind, and made me feel very welcome. The food was beautifully presented and the portions are more than enough. The food quality was excellent and very reasonably priced, and the service was 1st class. During my stay at the hotel I was looked after extremely well and nothing was too much trouble. In fact everyone at the hotel went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that my stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I'd like to mention the following staff at reception who are some of the most friendly and kind people that I have ever met on my travels, so thank you very much indeed to Trisha, Aoife, Olive and Aaron for looking after me so well. I will be back very soon !!!!

I celebrated my sons Communion with family at the Inn at Dramoland. We booked the sunroom to ourselves for 3 hours. It was beautifully decorated on the day and room allowed the children to be able to move about between courses. Service was very good and the food was amazing. The variety on the menu was fantastic including choices such as goats cheese, wings, salads, steak, seabass with prawns etc. A selection you normally would not get during a function. The children were able to go to the Playden after dinner for 2 hours to play & allow the Adults to relax in the bar for a while. The finger food later in the evening was very tasty. The sausages in particular was coated in a beautiful sweet sauce. The hotel provided finger food also to the children in their room in the evening. A discounted price was given due to having our function earlier in the day. This was very much appreciated. The communion boy was presented with a gift from the hotel of a voucher for himself & a friend for a return visit to the Playden. I felt this was a lovely touch from the hotel. Breakfast was nice & we enjoyed the pool also. The only recommendation i would give would be to provide pancakes for breakfast for the children and possibly extend the opening hours of the bar past 12:30am . Truly a communion weekend to remember. Thank you.

This is without doubt my worst dining experience ever. 3 fish and chips took forever to arrive on the table which is amusing because the menu informed us that we had 2 hours with which to eat our food. Pre requisite, could we have them lightly battered please? Unfortunately not as they are prepared earlier in the day and they are all battered to the same consistency. What a load of absolute garbage! I’ve eaten fish and chips all my life, never in the memory of man have I heard you can’t have a lightly battered fish. Pull the other one it’s got bells on it. It wasn’t a nice meal, far from it. With such a high quality expectancy from the price tag on the menu , I expected better. The sticky toffee pudding was very good. The positive reflected feedback was the staff. They were polite and attentive with a friendly rapport. Also as a footnote to my review , might I suggest that you clean the mirrors in the bar area, they were filthy.

We stayed for 3 nights in an Executive room for a wedding held at the inn. The room was good, shame that we got the view of the “industrial” side vs the beautiful greenery out front. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean. The biggest positive about the inn are the staff who couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful. The gastro pub on site was also great with a good selection of food and drink at reasonable prices. Now for the downsides - considering that the hotel is located in a rural area, unless you hire a car or call a taxi, you’re stuck with the gastro pub for all food and drink. There are no shops or other amenities within walking distance, apart from at Dromoland Castle which is 20 minutes away. I was quite disappointed to not find a mini fridge with even a basic drink selection in a room that cost 160€ per night. Apart from the pub, you can buy water at reception for 2€ per 500ml bottle, which again seems steep considering the price already paid. You will also struggle to independently book any taxis to pick up from the inn, but the reception are super helpful with that. While there was an ironing room, it’s a shame there’s no option to have an iron and board supplied to the room. Finally, the breakfast was okay, same thing everyday and again the staff there were amazing. Overall, it was a good stay, but if we were to return we would definitely hire a car to be able to buy some food and drinks for the room. We are unlikely to have a reason to return there anytime soon, but if we were to return to Shannon area we would probably look for something with more amenities for the price.

Dear TripAdvisor Member, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. Overall there were many positives to your visit including our standard of accommodation, our Shannigans Gastro Pub offering and in particular our extremely friendly and helpful team of staff across all departments of our hotel. In regards to some of the other matters that you have highlighted, the critique is slightly surprising and confusing. For example taxis are available from the Inn 24/7 on request and the fact that our reception team offer to book this service for our guests with recommended local suppliers is usually viewed as a plus by most of our other guests. Equally in terms of water for our guests we offer complimentary filtered tap water across our dining outlets or else bottled water is available for purchase as mentioned (this choice is also the norm in most other hotels). Either way we will take your feedback on board as an open-mind to all guest suggestions ensures that our usual high standards are continuously maintained. We do hope that if you will return to this part of Ireland again in the future, that you will reconsider and you'll join us for anther visit! Kind regards, Dermot Hogan Sales and Marketing Manager

Spent two nights here. Room was clean, beds are comfortable and well appointed. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good as well. We walked on the estate to the Dromoland Castle and then walked to the nearby Clare Abbey in Ennis. There are plenty of things to see in the surrounding area and plenty of walking trails. We also visited Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Great location to visit many attractions.
