Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a dream come true to stay in a castle. The staff were so wonderful and friendly, and we were made to feel right at home (even though we showed up straight from Cliffs of Moher in jeans and boots when there was a wedding happening, so everyone else was in tuxedos and gowns!). The grounds were gorgeous, and we really enjoyed the activities like falconry and shooting clays. The dinner at Earl of Thomand was fantastic (the mango souffle was one of the best deserts I've ever had). Highly recommend this beautiful spot.

We stayed for 2 nights through Amex Fine Resorts, and it was a very happy stay :) We booked the cheapest room, as the hotel is an expectedly expensive property during a high season in the summer. The hotel upgraded us on arrival to a Deluxe room. The room was very nice, spacious, with a big very comfortable bathroom. There was a welcome amenity in the room - fine chocolates - my husband really appreciated, mentioning that they were almost better than the ones he had in Belgium :) The room was extremely clean, and there was a great view, even though the room was on the first floor. All the meals we had in the hotel were great. We didn't eat in the fanciest restaurant, as we didn't want to dress up etc. So we ate at the Gallery and at the The FigTree Restaurant. The breakfast was included for us, so we made sure we didn't miss it, and it was plentiful and very tasty. There is a cold buffet portion, and you order your hot items from the menu. We did the falconry with Mike (I hope I remember the name correct), and it was such a great experience I would highly recommend to anybody who loves animals. The birds looked very happy and very well taken care of, and it was just so exciting to see them so close and even being able to get them fly to your hand. The hotel's stuff was fabulous, very accommodating and very helpful. Even contacting the hotel in advance was so easy and helpful. My husband shipped his golf clubs to the hotel, for the following group golf trip, and the hotel's golf club was extremely accommodating, even though he didn't even play the course, just used their golf range. He mentioned that the golf range was great too. I used the hotel's pool for laps, which was great. As usually nice hotel's spa pools are not good for laps. But the Dromoland Castle pool is. The changing room is very nice, the kind you would expect in the high-end spa. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very romantic and very relaxing. It was worth every penny we spent! I would certainly stay again if will be back to this part of Ireland!

Staff were fantastic couldnt be better - would like better more up to date menues serving vegetarian & vegan options. The rooms need to be updated as the decor is tired & dark. I did report the prob with plug sockets but since it was the weekend there was no maintenance. Hopefully these things would be checked or responded to in future. Hopefully it will be seen as constructive criticism because Im proud of Ireland but probably wont be back to Dromoland in a hurry - I think Ashford & Adare r better value for money.

Dromoland always exceeds expectations! We had another wonderful stay (last was pre pandemic) and we can't say enough about it. Every team member we met was so kind, helpful and incredibly helpful. We walked much of the grounds and at every turn there was another beautful hidden gem. The walled garden is really magical. We had an amazing meal and throuroughly enjoyed speaking with Shea ( I apologize if I spelled his name incorrectly) and the rest of the team. The rooms are spotlessly clean, incredibly comfortable and so very pretty. It's first class without being too stuffy. Thank you!

Our stay at Dromoland Castle was nothing short of spectacular. The castle and surrounding grounds were so lovely, it was nice to walk around and explore. The service of the staff was impeccable. I truly felt luxurious. I highly recommend the clay shooting activity and afternoon tea. It was a fabulous time. Can’t wait to visit again.

I have stayed at numerous luxury resorts over 40 years of travel and have NEVER had a more pleasant, luxurious time than I did at Dromoland. All of us (from my wife to my youngest child) were blown away by the setting, amenities, and incomparable service.

I struggled with this review because we were really looking forward to our stay. I think that this hotel is showing its age. The rooms and facilities are a little worn especially considering the cost and other comparably rated hotels . We were spoiled because we had just come from Ashford Castle which we thought was a superior experience. on the positive side, the tasting menu at the restaurant was quite good.

The hotel and the surroundings are stunning. We were in an executive suite which was huge and had a wonderful bathroom. The walled garden was my favorite area - truly a special and magical place. The castle is stunning and the property is gorgeous - I recommend renting a golf cart to drive around. The staff is at the heart of this hotel - Nuno made our tasting menu dinner extra special and went out of his way to make sure we were happy and Eleanor at the check in desk was lovely.
