If you think that Hostel accommodation is not usually associated with over-50s travellers, think again. Two nights accommodation in an en-suite double room for two people at a cost of less than one night's B&B is superb value. Tullyarvan is basic accommodation, comfortable bed in a reasonably sized double-room with full en-suite (shower) facility. Self-catering in a spacious kitchen or a range of couches 15 mounties walk away in Buncrana. Beautiful surroundings, and sunsets you might associate with more exotic locations, around Lough Swilly.

We are used with guests of all ages, the term 'hostel' is usually associated with young people, not the case here. We get such a variety of customers the hostel makes for an interesting place to stay. We work hard to kept the hostel clean and love to get nice reviews. We do believe that we offer value for money for clean basic accommodation. Thank you for taking time to submit a review.

Stayed 2 nights in 14 bed dorm, only 3 people both nights which was excellent, is a bit institutional looking and if full would be very very busy especially for bathroom facilities. Excellent kitchen with everything you need to self cater, easy check in though a key deposit is irritating. Good cheap choice

Quite a few people give good feedback on our kitchen facilities, and that we offer value for money. We take a key deposit so guests will return them, these are security keys and cannot be copied, they have to be specially ordered and are expensive to replace. Good review thank you.

I recommend this hostel for the adventurous family and traveller. I found it looking for accommodation near or on Malin Head on a busy bank holiday weekend and what a gem. Clean, safe, fresh bed linen (pillow cases, sheets and duvets on bunk beds). For €342, 10 of us have taken 2 * 6 bunk bed rooms for 3 nights (Friday - Monday) and have cooked our own breakfasts and dinners (massive feasts from local well stocked Supervalu), saved a ton and have had a blast chatting with Germans, Irish, British, Belgian and French fellow tourists. I have really enjoyed hearing all these wonderful young people, their stories, their laughter and joie de vie. Tulkyarvan is actually a community center - an Irish (Gaelic speaking school) with a hostel. I suppose we came when school was out so I cannot speak to school time hosteling but I can really recommend based upon our experience. Wonderful staff, good people staying here, you'll love the conversations you shall have in a large community breakfast/dinner room ... If you can get beyond the bunk bed as a B&B/hotel person, I can attest to 2 great nights of sleep so far!!! The kitchen has tons of room - really 2 large rooms with huge fridges, cooking area and 2 sinks for cleanup. Malin Head and the inishowen peninsula is sensational. Great walking and sights all along Ireland's fabulous Wild Atlantic Way. Our troupe were 2 families, an 81 year old dad, an uncle, a 2 year old baby ... no complaints. Highly, highly recommended.

Thank you for recommending our hostel. We are really glad you enjoyed your stay, sounds like a good time was had by all. I see you enjoyed the Camaraderie in our large self-catering kitchen with the other guests from around the world. Yes we are a community project, which is a not-for-profit venture, any money that we generate goes directly to maintaining the building and keeping people employed. The hostel is available for all ages and is suitable for the single traveler, couples and families, also great for groups. Great review appreciate you taking the time to give us such praise. Hope you will return in the future.

We visited the hostel on Friday evening and Devon was very good and could not do enough. The place was spotless and the rooms were warm, comfortable and spacious. Showers were fab and a special mention has to go to Angela for her help in organising the stay and helping us with the beds and the breakfast and a big thank you. If doing the wild Atlantic way then make sure you stop here, You wont be disapointed.

Lovely hostel, friendly staff, very quiet, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent facilities - probably the best equipped kitchen I've seen in any hostel. We had a private room, which was very spacious and even had a TV. Free wifi with good reception throughout the building. The hostel is in a pretty central location for exploring Inishowen. Highly recommended, would definitely go back.
