Detailed Reviews
We had a wonderful experience. All the staff were warm and welcoming and went out of their way to help us with our stay. The hostel was beautifully kept, the beds were comfy, the shower was excellent and the self catering kitchen was spacious and well stocked with everything we needed to cook and make a cuppa. I would not hesitate to book again and recommend to family and friends. Thank you everyone at Tullyarvan!

Lovely hostel, friendly staff, very quiet, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent facilities - probably the best equipped kitchen I've seen in any hostel. We had a private room, which was very spacious and even had a TV. Free wifi with good reception throughout the building.
The hostel is in a pretty central location for exploring Inishowen.
Highly recommended, would definitely go back.

We visited the hostel on Friday evening and Devon was very good and could not do enough. The place was spotless and the rooms were warm, comfortable and spacious. Showers were fab and a special mention has to go to Angela for her help in organising the stay and helping us with the beds and the breakfast and a big thank you. If doing the wild Atlantic way then make sure you stop here, You wont be disapointed.

Stayed here with a group of 14 cyclists travelling the length of Ireland in August. It's close to town, it's warm and friendly, and the beds are among the most comfortable I've slept in. Most rooms are dorm style with multiple beds, and they all have en-suites. The hostel allowed us to park all 14 bikes inside for security which was a huge bonus for us. The kitchen facilities were fab, and the free wifi worked a treat. Couldn't fault it and would definitely recommend it!

Stayed here in April 2012 on a cycling holiday and it was great. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking, and the bed in our room was so comfortable. Exactly what we needed after a hard day of cycling. Everything was spotless and staff extremely helpful. It is very fairly priced too. The old part of the Mill is gorgeous. Buncrana is a lovely little town and I hope I’ll be back there again! One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in.

+1
I recommend this hostel for the adventurous family and traveller. I found it looking for accommodation near or on Malin Head on a busy bank holiday weekend and what a gem. Clean, safe, fresh bed linen (pillow cases, sheets and duvets on bunk beds).
For €342, 10 of us have taken 2 * 6 bunk bed rooms for 3 nights (Friday - Monday) and have cooked our own breakfasts and dinners (massive feasts from local well stocked Supervalu), saved a ton and have had a blast chatting with Germans, Irish, British, Belgian and French fellow tourists. I have really enjoyed hearing all these wonderful young people, their stories, their laughter and joie de vie.
Tulkyarvan is actually a community center - an Irish (Gaelic speaking school) with a hostel. I suppose we came when school was out so I cannot speak to school time hosteling but I can really recommend based upon our experience.
Wonderful staff, good people staying here, you'll love the conversations you shall have in a large community breakfast/dinner room ... If you can get beyond the bunk bed as a B&B/hotel person, I can attest to 2 great nights of sleep so far!!!
The kitchen has tons of room - really 2 large rooms with huge fridges, cooking area and 2 sinks for cleanup.
Malin Head and the inishowen peninsula is sensational. Great walking and sights all along Ireland's fabulous Wild Atlantic Way. Our troupe were 2 families, an 81 year old dad, an uncle, a 2 year old baby ... no complaints.
Highly, highly recommended.

Thank you for recommending our hostel. We are really glad you enjoyed your stay, sounds like a good time was had by all. I see you enjoyed the Camaraderie in our large self-catering kitchen with the other guests from around the world. Yes we are a community project, which is a not-for-profit venture, any money that we generate goes directly to maintaining the building and keeping people employed. The hostel is available for all ages and is suitable for the single traveler, couples and families, also great for groups. Great review appreciate you taking the time to give us such praise. Hope you will return in the future.

I stayed at Tullyarvan Mill for 2 weeks as i was caught between houses. I was unsure how long i would be so to save money i went for the hostel option. Having never stayed in a hostel before i was unsure what it would be like, expecting bare facilities and a basic bed for the evening. I was almost overwhelmed with what i got. I had booked a bed in a 6 bed dorm, the bed and dormitory itself was very clean and comfortable. An ensuite shower room and toilet was spotless. The shower itself was as good if not better than anywhere i have been before - hotels or home. A large kitchen facility with everything you need to cook, again spotless and a nice common area with tv and dining area. The one thing that really pleased me was the strength and quality of the wifi throughout the hostel. Perfect signal anywhere i went, with streaming netflix no problem at all. Staff were lovely and accommodating, with no intrusion. Close to the centre of town, only a 6 or 7 minute walk, the beach just round the corner and a lovely park just across the road its a must stop for anyone coming to the north-west of the country, and at only €15 a night, i couldnt of asked for more. Recommend to families and travellers alike.

Perfect hostel (clean, spacious, staff kind).
Some defects but not important :
-> 1 km - 1,5km to go to the Town Center.
-> WIFI is bad in the bedrooms, perfect in the kitchen
-> The hostel looks like a hopital (large corridor, wc & shower for disabled..., not very nice)

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you found the hostel to be clean, spacious and that the staff were kind. The WiFi Hot spots are located in our large self-catering kitchen, main reception & at hostel reception. As far as rooms go, some guests get a good enough signal, depending on their proximity to the main routers in the kitchen & at reception. The room you were in is one of two that was purposely fitted out for people with disabilities. Pity you didn't mention during your stay, you were unhappy with the room, as we could have moved you to a different room, and addressed this issue. Our main aim is that our guests enjoy their stay.
