Perfect for what we needed (family group of four adults) . Private room was lovely. Good linen. Good facilities and lovely communal space/kitchen. 10 min walk to town (supermarket, pubs/restaurants etc) Will definitely be back!
If you think that Hostel accommodation is not usually associated with over-50s travellers, think again. Two nights accommodation in an en-suite double room for two people at a cost of less than one night's B&B is superb value. Tullyarvan is basic accommodation, comfortable bed in a reasonably sized double-room with full en-suite (shower) facility. Self-catering in a spacious kitchen or a range of couches 15 mounties walk away in Buncrana. Beautiful surroundings, and sunsets you might associate with more exotic locations, around Lough Swilly.
Brilliant double room spotless!, great kitchen area. First time staying in a hostel in Ireland and it wont be the last. Great staff! great price! would stay again. Our first stop on our W.A.W. adventure.
Stayed 2 nights in 14 bed dorm, only 3 people both nights which was excellent, is a bit institutional looking and if full would be very very busy especially for bathroom facilities. Excellent kitchen with everything you need to self cater, easy check in though a key deposit is irritating. Good cheap choice
I recommend this hostel for the adventurous family and traveller. I found it looking for accommodation near or on Malin Head on a busy bank holiday weekend and what a gem. Clean, safe, fresh bed linen (pillow cases, sheets and duvets on bunk beds). For €342, 10 of us have taken 2 * 6 bunk bed rooms for 3 nights (Friday - Monday) and have cooked our own breakfasts and dinners (massive feasts from local well stocked Supervalu), saved a ton and have had a blast chatting with Germans, Irish, British, Belgian and French fellow tourists. I have really enjoyed hearing all these wonderful young people, their stories, their laughter and joie de vie. Tulkyarvan is actually a community center - an Irish (Gaelic speaking school) with a hostel. I suppose we came when school was out so I cannot speak to school time hosteling but I can really recommend based upon our experience. Wonderful staff, good people staying here, you'll love the conversations you shall have in a large community breakfast/dinner room ... If you can get beyond the bunk bed as a B&B/hotel person, I can attest to 2 great nights of sleep so far!!! The kitchen has tons of room - really 2 large rooms with huge fridges, cooking area and 2 sinks for cleanup. Malin Head and the inishowen peninsula is sensational. Great walking and sights all along Ireland's fabulous Wild Atlantic Way. Our troupe were 2 families, an 81 year old dad, an uncle, a 2 year old baby ... no complaints. Highly, highly recommended. …
