We were warmly welcomed by Darren and absolutely enjoyed our stay. The B&B is located at the river Shannon and has really nice view. Nice rooms and excellent individual breakfast with views on the Wonderfull garden. Scenic pub just some 100 m away.
We had an excellent experience at the Harbour Master’s House in Shannon Harbour. Breakfast was individually cooked to order, and was a very relaxing affair. The breakfast room overlooked a fantastic garden - apparently the lockdown project of the new owners. Would highly recommend.
Me an my partner stayed here before doing the canal walk. It was perfectly located for us to do the walk. We got a bus to Birr and a taxi to drop us to the B&B. Room was warm and comfortable and we had our own en-suite bathroom, the bed was very squeaky. Breakfast was very good with a good selection available.
Friendly, welcoming host in her old family home. Fantastic location off the beaten track but still a great base for touring the area. Easy drive from Dublin Airport. Nice pub in village which serves food, a short walk away. Plenty of other options for dining in nearby towns too. Excellent breakfast.
This is a wonderful, quiet place to stay, especially after the hustle and bustle of Dublin. It's beautiful, overlooking the water. Grainne is a gracious hostess. Our room was huge and we truly felt like a guest in her home. You'll enjoy staying in a village and feeling a bit like a local. Grainne will give you wonderful suggestions for dinner and prepares a bountiful, delicious breakfast. We hated to say good-bye and hope to return again some day. Very convenient to Birr Castle.
Arrived after attending the game fair at Birr Castle which was a 15-20min drive. The lovely host Grainne greeted us and knew us by name, she was so friendly and polite, giving us information about the surrounding area. There is a good wifi connection. The bedrooms where beautifully set up with fab attention to detail. The bedroom was a good size and a folder was provided naming local pubs and restaurants. The bed was very comfortable and huge it even fitted my partner who is 6ft 7 which was a suprise. The breakfast the next morning was amazing, fresh fruit, tea, coffee, selection of cereals, bread with toasters at each table so you could make it how you like and of course the very tasty home made fry which was made to order. Grainne also offered us the apples from the farm to take on our journey. Will definetly come back again, better than most hotels.…
Stayed overnight on a trip to the west. Lovely and comfortable and the owner Grainne was very welcoming and friendly. Nice quiet village with nice walks along the canal. Local pub McIntyres is just perfect for a quiet drink and chat. Will definitely make a return visit.
Just Got Back From My First Visit To Ireland. Drove to the harbour house from Dublin airport 1 h 20 mins wanted to stay somewhere quieter than dublin and that's what I got . Peace n quite. The village of shannon harbour has a population of 31 . Bumped into 6 of them in the local pub, very friendly and understand what visitors bring to the area. Arrived at 1.00am but no problem checking in as I had already emailed the owners and a key was left for me. Shannon harbour is a great base to explore Ireland, very central. Was pleased to find the free wifi worked good at the hotel and a plug socket next to the bed head so u can charge ur phone n surf. Also the butter knife is actually a butter knife not a smaller knife, and the butter easy to spread not frozen. These small attention to details ( and many more) make all the difference and make the harbour master so much more than just somewhere to stay . Lots of castles and history all around you, quite roads aswell, easy driving. Lots of recommended cycle paths and walks aswell. Big folder full of things to do and recommended restaurants aswell in the front room. Enjoyed my stay !!!…
Stayed here for 2 nights. Deirdre and Jim are lovely hosts. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Bed was the comfiest I've ever slept in! Breakfast was delicious! Our room had a lovely view of the harbour and despite there being a lot of boats docked it was very quiet and peaceful. Local pub was great craic with music at the weekend. Ate there one night. Menu was basic but food was delicious. Plenty of choice in surrounding areas for food also. A great place to stay if your looking for peace and quiet but within easy travel distance to other bigger towns. I will be back again 😀
Lovely place great breakfast and really warm host Grainne, I would definitely stay there again. Had a lovely walk down the canal paths. Local bar not great for food would recommend getting food in Banagher.
