Handsome building in a very private location, and beautifully decorated. Our en-suite had a claw foot bath, and our room had a chaise longue (sp?) - very evocative! Lovely crystal chandeliers everywhere, great decor, it was a really special treat. Our host was great, was born in the house which was such a nice point. Lovely breakfast room, good breakfast,...

Walcot is a place of excellence. We stayed here for 4 nights, having been delighted with our last stay 2 years ago. It is a Georgian house (as are many in Birr) beautifully maintained and brought into the 21st century. Our room and ensuite were very spacious and full of antique furniture as was the rest of the house. Across...

Walcot was the first B&B we stayed at during our 2 week trip around Ireland, and it simply set the standard for others. Beautifully decorated and charming...it's easy to tell that Eilish is an interior designer. We had a beautiful room with a king bed; everything was immaculate. Chocolate candies a nice touch. Wonderful full Irish breakfast served in a...

There’s a reason that to this date the Walcott doesn’t have any negative reviews. This cosy B&B is located just across Birr Castle, well away from traffic noises, in a charming old building which is furnished in a way that adds to the atmosphere. On arrival we had the choice of two rooms – we chose the one with the...

If you want to experience what it would be like to live in a beautiful Georgian house, then Walcot's B&B is the place to stay. From the moment we entered the house we were transported to another era. Our room (No 1) was just perfect, furnished with antiques and a four poster bed! Everything was great. Even the tea and...

Stayed at this beautiful house en route to a wedding in Tipperary. The guest house and the hospitality were first class. We turned up unannounced and got the last room available We stayed in room 3 a very large and very comfortable en-suite room. If you are ever in this part of mid-Ireland we would certainly recommend Walcot B&B. Thank...

We stayed here with 3 children for one night but I wish it was more. The family room was actually 2 bedrooms interconnected so there was loads of space and the kids were delighted with their own room. The breakfast was delicious - fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, a variety of breads and the choice of a full irish. We'll worth...

I'm just booking this amazing B&B for a return visit and realise that I forgot to review our stay in July 2015. The return booking says it all....... beautiful rooms. I had a peek in most of them. Our room was delightful to simply be in and the bed was luxurious and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was excellent....

I had cause to visit this part of the world for a wedding and was too disorganised to secure a room in the hotel everyone else was staying in - for once it paid off! Lovely house run by lovely people. I was late in arrival and was welcomed by the lady of the house who showed me to my...
