Stayed at this wonderful B&B for 4 nights. Veronica really is the perfect host, very attentive and cooks the most scrumptious full Irish breakfast that really does set you up for the day. The rooms are spotless and have everything you need. Veronica really does go beyond just bed and breakfast providing us with tea and cakes every afternoon (thanks Veronica for making me put on weight!!!). Would definitely recommend this place and when I return to Ireland will not hesitate to book The Minnocks. Lastly got to mention the wonderful welcome you get from the 3 beautiful dogs.
What a wonderful Bed and Breakfast find in Birr, Ireland. Our host, Veronica, was charming, fun, informative and professional, as was her lovely son. And not forgetting the gorgeous rough collies! Everything was excellent: the room size, view, beds, bathroom, breakfasts, location, chats with the hosts. We did not want to leave. The countryside and towns in the area were fascinating, an area of Ireland which needs to be discovered by more people, who needs to follow the well worn tourist trail when these lovely towns full of history are so charming?
we selected Minnocks as it was near the town, and we were not dissapointed, the owner Veronica is a lovely lady, very helpful and always checking to see if we needed anything, even offered to dry our cycling clothers afer we got drenched during our spin, the room was lovely and warm with a double & single bed, with tv & tea making facility, definately stay there again if back in the area, breakfast had many selections and was plentyful, there is ample parking space.
Lovely welcome from Veronica, with tea and cakes, good full Irish breakfast and handy for the many local trails. Birr Castle and giant telescope were the main attractions with my grandmother purportedly buried here.
This Bed and breakfast is absolutely charming. Nestled away in the country its nice and quiet and a quick leap to a small town. Veronica, the owner, is great, very attentive and helpful with local information. She even made a call to make sure we could be a late seating at a local restaurant. Can't wait to come back!
Charming, new B&B. Beautifully furnished rooms. Homemade breakfast specially made for our needs. Above all – very warm hospitality and very good advisers for travelling in nearby Birr. Would definitely recommend! Thank you!
my partner and I had booked this b&b for 1 night as it was en route to the West Country but Veronica, the landlady, made us so welcome and told us so much about what there is to see around Birr that we decided to stay a 2nd night. The rooms at Minnock;s are very comfortable and everything is spotlessly clean, breakfast is plentiful with a good choice and nothing is too much trouble.
We booked 4 rooms here as the nearest hotel was booked out. Our welcome by Alan could not have been friendlier or warmer. Our rooms all had comfortable beds with en-suite bathrooms equipped with all necessary toiletries. Everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was cooked fresh as we arrived in the dinning room and tasted delicious. If you ever go to Offaly I suggest you go out of your was to stay here. It will enhance your holiday.
This is a lovely old house. The room was comfortable and adequately stocked. The shower was a little cramped. I feel that they need to do something about all the farm machinery out back as it spoils the lovely view. Also, I was under the impression that we had booked bed and breakfast. We arrived to find that I had apparently not clicked the button stating that we would like to have breakfast. Initially, I was annoyed. Then I remembered that the fault was with booking.com. This site is guilty of false advertising imo. Bed and breakfast should mean just that! Also, booking.com tells you that you don't have to pay upfront, and then you realise that, actually, you do just as soon as you get to the booking stage. This is outright dishonest. So breakfast was extra. To be fair she didn't charge us an arm and a leg and she also cooked extra sausages for our dogs. Overall good. It wasn't tremendous value. We ended up paying eighty two euro for the two of us. (If you factor in booking.com and their dishonesty re breakfast.) Had I realised that we would have to pay this, I would have booked a place in Birr itself. She's a nice, obliging lady though. Just avoid the pitfalls of dishonest booking sites if you can.…
We stayed in this B&B last night. The host Veronica was very warm & welcoming. Booked a restaurant for us.Rooms were warm & comfortable. Lovely breakfast. Would stay if in the area again. My Husband was not feeling well and Veronica looked after him. A very nice lady. Three lovely friendly dogs. Ann.
