Detailed Reviews
I couldn't find any recent reviews on this B&B but decided to take a chance for a recent business trip - I'm delighted I did! Dolores & Mark are very welcoming and have a beautiful house which has been very tastefully decorated and maintained. When I arrived Dolores made me a large pot of fresh tea (even though there were facilities in the room for tea & coffee) which I really appreciated after a long drive - no UHT milk (which I detest) - small jug of fresh milk left on both days. The room was warm and very comfortable as was the double bed. All furnishings are great quality and in keeping with the building & decor. The old wardrobes, bed frames, cabinets, rugs and even the china crockery which makes such a difference to the breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, there is a selection of cereals, fruits, yogurts, smoked salmon, full Irish etc but I just had orange juice, scrambled eggs and bacon with fresh wholemeal brown bread and a large pot of tea and it was all delicious. If you're anywhere within the area I would highly recommend a stay at Laurel House, you won't be disappointed.

We arrived tired and late but could not have had a better experience. The rooms were very comfortable and Dolores treated us with great kindness. Outstanding food. Ideal base from which to visit the surrounding beautiful area. We hope to be back for a longer stay soon

Stayed recently in this B&B with my wife. The house is some distance from the town with taxi journeys ( if required) costing in the region of €10 per trip. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, with tea & coffee making facilities provided. The bathroom was state of the art.The landlady Dolores and her husband Mark could not have been more welcoming and friendly which greatly enhanced the overall experience.
Breakfasts were excellent!
I have no hesitation in recommending this B&B.
Keep up the good work Dolores!

Anyone travelling on their way to Cork and who is looking to stop overnight on the way, I would highly recommend stopping off at Laurel House B&B where you will experience the famous and wonderful Irish hospitality from your hosts Mark and Delores. A truly lovely couple with a beautiful home, which was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast was so so good. The only disappointment for us was that our stay was too short.
PS Thank you Mark for taking your car and showing us the way to Poachers Restaurant in Bandon.

I arrived at the Laurel House on a late Monday evening, my intended stay being purely for work commitments. The B&B was organized for me by the company, and not being familiar with the location or the accommodation itself, I followed through with their recommendation.
Dolores had been notified of my late arrival, and if that annoyed her, her friendly face and welcoming approach did not show it. She quickly showed me to my suite, informed me of all the services available, set a breakfast hour and left me to unwind.
I gathered a family suite had been booked from the large double bed and the single bed, both neatly arranged with fresh bed sheets, lots of cushions and blankets. The TV, set up with Sky+ kept me entertained, and if that wasn't there, the array of books by the night stand would have done so, as well. Attentive touches in the suite such as board games in the drawer, cotton buds and pads in the bathroom, a hair straightener available really transform this suite into a proper home. The shower, my favourite part, had beautiful pressure and fresh, clean towels after made it so much more relaxing.
Dolores' welcoming face greeted me again in the morning, and was happy to provide my cheeky breakfast request of pancakes at that early hour. Served on beautiful plates and having an amazing view, it was the start to a day you'd think was a movie.
My short overnight stay has me very eager to come back, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comforting and truly relaxing place for a getaway. The heart and soul of the family is evident in this B&B, from the smallest to the biggest details, and that you can't put a price on.

Stayed 21/09/2014. Wow. We were greeted by Mark at the door to a welcome of a cup of tea & apple tart that Delores had just baked. What a welcome & it just went uphill from there. The room was large & comfortable with a beautiful en suite. The breakfast was stunning. This place was a gem & Mark & Delores were absolutely amazing hosts. Well done. If you are travelling around Ireland do yourself a favour stay here.

This was only our second experience staying in a B&B and it could not have been better. Our host's home was very elegant but comfortable at the same time. Our room was spacious and bright. Our window was large and looked out onto rolling emerald green hills and a herd of lively and delightful cows! Delores, our hostess cooked an amazing made-to-order breakfast with the best scones we have ever eaten. The accompanying fruit and jams were the freshest and tastiest yet. It is only a short cab ride into town. We wanted to get to know the locals in my Granny's birthplace and we did just that at Ray O'Mahony's pub(where everyone knows your name!) enjoying a pint ( or two) with the locals and our host Mark. Thank you for everything and making our time in Bandon so memorable.

Great service from Delores, Mark and their family. Our kids loved waking up and looking out the window at the cows each morning. Great breakfast as well, and great conversations with Delores and Mark in the lounge in the evening. Overall wonderful experience. Also loved the complimentary water, wine and cookies. Great people, great location in Co Cork.

We stayed here on 14th July 2012 and have to praise the absolutely exceptional level of hospitality we received from Dolores and Mark.
We decided to book a B&B last minute as the drive home was over 3 hours and we had been up and busy since 4am. The extremely short notice was absolutely no problem for Dolores and Mark (the owners), and from the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel at home. We were welcomed with some lovely tea and delicious rhubarb tart with cream to relax with in the beautiful cosy yet spacious lounge.
The house itself is modern and traditional all in one, and is decorated and maintained to the highest standards. There is plenty of space with immaculate attention to detail throughout. The bedroom we stayed in (Room 1) is absolutely beautiful, and equipped with everything you will need and more to ensure your stay is a pleasant and comfortable one. There is a flat screen tv, deliciously comfortable bed and bedding, a desk and a lovely large wardrobe. There is an appealing welcome tray with tea and coffee making facilities including biscuits, red wine and white wine. The en-suite is very modern and furnished beautifully. I couldn't believe how clean and shiny the bathroom (and shower) was, and it's equipped with luxury toiletries and soft, fluffy towels. The shower was temperature and pressure perfect! We had the most comfortable fulfilling nap that afternoon and sleep that night.
The breakfast next morning was exceptional. The freshest produce was used and we were spoiled for choice with a variety of freshly made hot and cold drinks, cereals, homemade bread and fruit. A hot menu with the most delicious freshly cooked foods (the scrambled egg and full Irish breakfast is absolutely delightful) is supplied. We will remember this breakfast for a long time.... absolutely delicious!!!!!!
Dolores and Mark could not have been more accommodating and hospitable. They deliver such a friendly and professional service. Nothing was too much trouble and they kindly lifted us into Bandon for the evening which is just a couple of minutes drive up the road. They also offered to collect us. A heartfelt thank you to both, who really enhanced our stay even further with their wonderful hospitality.
Overall, a truly memorable stay. We can not think of a single flaw - nothing was overlooked! Extremely comfortable and clean, very attractively decorated, beautifully furnished, and exceptional service delivered from Dolores and Mark. Could not recommend this B&B more to anyone and we will most definitely be returning on our next stay down in Cork. Terri and Tom O' Grady
