Even before we arrived the online communication was exceptional. I had advised by email We were by bus and wanted to be sure of distance to location. Martin replied with quick, efficient info and we easily sought our way there by local bus from Waterford city to Tramore stopping and main station on the Lower Strand road. 10 minute walked (flat ground for cases with rollers) to his beautiful home down the street as he indicated. Upon arrival we were met by his very polite and helpful son Phillip who escorted us to room (and lifted my heavy case up the stairs-poor guy) and explained the room facilities along with the common rooms in house. We bkd the sea view with small balcony and it was exactly as I anticipated-wonderful views of the strand. The house proved to be extremely quiet outside at night as I knew in advance I wanted to sleep with window ajar for fresh, sea air. Fantastic. Our room well equipped with plenty of space for our “over packed vacation clothes” and shoes. We had 12 pairs- so Canadian!

Breakfast was amazing every day and by far the best we had during our 12 day stay in Ireland. All breakfast was fantastic but the sausage Martin and Maria had served was incredibly tasty and we devoured a full Irish each day. We missed the first morn as slept in from long flight- they were so kind to not disturbed and left clean towels with 2 water bottles (yes-each day they left new water bottles for guests) and cleaned room. By the way we actually helped ourselves to more then our share of the ginger cookies varieties they also had left for guests in common room. Apologies as may have eaten them all!

Breakfast also had a menu to order if fresh yogurt, fruit, granola, and full Irish was not your “go to” each day. The scones and brown soda bread were so authentic and did not go to waste with the guests. Juices and jams and little extras had you wanting for “nothing” and all guests enjoyed everything served. Tea kettle left out each day/evening for return back to sip and enjoy in the parlour. Along with those cookies—Yum!

I was able to sneak a peak at the two other rooms available which are also perfect choices for any guest that may need to have more space as one has a double bed along with a single in a huge space across the front of the 2nd floor with well equipped bathroom area. Great for families or friends travelling together. They also have a wonderful room (my next stay for sure) along the length of the 2nd floor from front to back with a large double, sitting area with wing chair and mini faux fireplace and huge bathroom with stunning view of the back strand. For those who need more space - this is your pick too.

Keep in mind each room has it’s own unique and special “extra” to offer each guest’s choice when making reservation. For instance, our room was the only with a balcony which we enjoyed as chairs and small table in room folded to bring out and breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the never ending views.

Shampoo and conditioner along with soap and shower gel provided. I bring my own as my preference and I always bring a face cloth as not common to be provided in Europe. Towels were so soft and beds were amazingly comfortable as were the pillows. That is my worst nightmare when travelling—- must had great beds and Martin and Maria beds were fantastic!

Martin and Maria supplied the beautiful common area parlour on the main floor with many historical books about the Tramore town and surrounding area along with Ireland itself. Written by local historians too which was a treat as my grandfather helped authenticate some by author Mr. Andy Taylor who my mother had grown up with. I immersed myself in the pages of info to help us navigate the town and the local areas during my visit.

The trip becomes more authentic when you can see your own “past” come to life through past generations yes and memories. Martin himself is a great lover of the local history and I kept him from his work each day chatting endlessly about everyone and everything to do with Tramore. He indulged me and I am greatly for his extended kindness with his time.

We walked to town each day —10-12 minute jaunt or so down the Lower strand road past the Majestic hotel and main bus terminal making your way up the Queen street to Main or down Lower Strand road to beach promenade. You can also make your way quickly to the Upper Strand road to Patrick street. All roads lead to each other easily and every view show the enormously expansive beach strand.

Shops and restaurant within minutes for B&B and so many Pubs too. You can ask for local itinerary and Martin and Maria will be thrilled to help out to guide you to all interesting points and sights in the town.

FYI..bus to Waterford stops outside door across st.if you want to head into city.** I encourage all to take the bus into city and back and to ride the full length on return so you can see all stops and easily realize how the views the
Is incredible town offers from the top of the hill down to the strand try,y make it a “Gem” not to be missed during your Ireland vacation. You may leave but your heart will stay here!!

We will see you all soon as next trip 2 yrs from now or sooner..

Our most grateful thanks for your incredible hospitality.

The owners are truly people of quality, and care deeply about their town and its history, not to mention maintaining a spotless B&B. A Veteran of the IDF, Martin is quite simply a "class act", he and his wife are a pleasure to chat with. Conveniently located, its a short walk to the Strand, the amusement park, restaurants and pubs.
Breakfast is made to order and out of this world, simply delicious. Their library is well stocked and comfortable as well, offering another option to the traveler. We look forward to returning. Don't miss this B&B!
