From initial 'phone contact until our departure, bellies full after a great Irish breakfast, Elizabeth was the perfect host - accommodating (last minute changes to our schedule were no problem), welcoming, very helpful and informative on local attractions and areas to visit. This is a small intimate guesthouse, but rooms are very spacious and bathrooms are large (ours with separate shower and jacuzzi bath). Well located with good views over the Blackwater and Youghal town, a good base from which to explore the south coast.
In July we had a wonderful holiday based around Cork and had the pleasure of staying in Ardsallagh Lodge. We found the accommodation extremely comfortable, clean, very homely, well equipped and wonderful views over the bay. The landlady Elizabeth was very friendly and willing to attend all our needs. Food was excellent, Lodge in a convenient location and would highly recommend a visit and we will be visiting it again. Co Down Couple
I recently viewed the new web site for Ardsallagh House and it brought back such good memories for both of us .This excellant Bed and Breakfast House is situated in a very good location for visiting in the Youghal area with Waterford and beyond to the east and Magical Cork to the west. We enjoyed our second visit to Ardsallagh and indulged in the beautiful luxury of the house. The bedroom had the most marvellous view of Youghal especially with the lights dancing on the water of the bay at night. The bedroom was a very generous size and furnished with exquisite taste. The en suite was also of very generous proportion and the cleanliness was unquestional throughout. The hospitality of Elizabeth ensured that our visit went smoothly. She advised us about places to go, things to do, where to eat but most of all she made us feel very welcome in her home.…
This is not a 5 star accommodation. The house is far from town and anything else and it is unmarked. After following the directions and arriving in the driveway it looked like the place was vacant. We then went back into town and called the house and told the owner we were coming back up, that we found no signs and weren't sure that we had the right place. When we got up there 10 minutes later she wouldn't answer the door. All of the very heavy drapes were pulled shut and we never got in. It felt so weird we just left.
