Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Exceptionally clean hotel. Food was simply superb, there were 9 of us and not one complaint. Staff are all very pleasant, courteous and helpful. Rooms were of medium size but cosy & comfortable. Great power shower. Sea view room. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank you to all the team!

We arrived on a busy Sunday for 5 nights and found that our room was on the smallsize. We were immediately upgraded to a larger room. Next morning Michael and Niamh reshuffled the bookings and moved us to a more spacious room. The food in the bar was really excellent and covers a wide choice of tastes. Seafood pie was delicious. Staff very attentive. Breakfast too was very good. Hotel has been completely upgraded , it is bright and airy and a lot of time and attention has been spent on the furnishings. Thank you for a most enjoyable week.

We booked a 3 night stay here and it was wonderful. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel so welcome. The cleanest Hotel I have ever seen. We had 2 rooms not a family room. But they were close together. Had little fans in room to keep room cool as it has been so hot . Lovely rooms plenty of towels and beautiful soap. Shower was so large. Staff all so friendly and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant amazing. Breakfast was top class. Lovely fresh breads and all you could ask for. We definitely will be back again.

We wife and I stayed for two nights in June. Lovely old hotel nicely refurbished. Friendly and welcoming. Our room was freshly decorated. The carpet was new. Great sea views. Lovely outdoor areas front and back. It was very good value - we had booked well in advance.

Spent two weekend nights at this hotel recently and from the moment we interacted with the gentleman at reception upon arrival, to every staff member we were greetly warmly, politely and with a smile. Car park at back of hotel had ample spaces and the room we had provided great view from the front of the hotel. When we arrived we requested an iron and board and two minutes later it arrived at our room. Dinner in the bar was fairly good but the breakfast in the morning was excellent and on a good morning its nice to sit outside on first floor balcony at front of hotel (great views), both hot and cold options available and again great service. On our last morning we realised housekeeping had removed our cups for a coffee and after phone call to reception, we were provided cups within two minutes to our room. Rooms and bathrooms are good sizes and very clean (have had bigger beds but still decent size and very comfortable). Town centre only 10 minutes walk to Clock Tower and bars etc. Youghal beach also 10 minute walk as you leave hotel and take a right. This hotel has nailed customer service with a very high standard and makes you feel very welcome.

Stayed at the Walter Raleigh mid June 2022. Every interaction with hotel staff from booking through checkout was simply a pleasure. Friendly, helpful and interested was the overall sense right across the hotel. Despite being busy every person took time to greet us and make us feel comfortable. This is a business which has managed to maintain customer service at the forefront of it's offering and it made for such a pleasant stay. Many thanks to Jason for dealing with a red wine on carpet incident with minimal fuss and a very friendly demeanour. Jason and the entire team we encountered are a huge asset to the business. It is hard to believe the building is 200 years old given the excellent cleanliness and overall condition of the entire hotel. Breakfast was a very good selection each morning in a very comfortable, airy dining area with a marvellous view. Again nothing was too much trouble despite the busy room. Dinner on a busy evening was also very good. Service again was excellent from a young but very capable team. All in all a really pleasant stay in a very nice hotel which was enhanced by the service and particularly the staff.

The area selected a to be nearer the ferry to UK than Waterville but nevertheless we enjoyed it. Almost all the rooms overlook the estuary and ours was excellent. Car park at the back and safe. The restaurant and bar are the same and it works well. Staff excellent, and all our requests dealt with promptly We will consider using this hotel again.

Stayed 4 nights with family. Had a very enjoyable stay. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We opted for sea view rooms which were very pleasant. There was road noise during the day but hardly any noise at night. Our rooms were bright and clean with lovely fluffy towels. Breakfast was very good with a good choice and nothing was too much trouble. We only had dinner one night as we were out and about the other days.
