We had a lovely stay here just before Christmas. We took advantage of the break in Covid lockdown to have a 2 night break. The hotel was beautiful especially with the Christmas decorations and lights. We felt safe with the hand cleaning and table service in the bar and restaurant. The food was very good and they had gluten free options. We had a lovely room in the lodge. We found the staff to be very friendly. Unfortunately another lockdown was announced on our second afternoon so they knew they were closing down again. We were being undercharged on checkout. We pointed this out and they let us off with the cost of a bottle of wine because of our honesty. A very enjoyable stay and we hope to return in the future.

Thank you for visiting Cabra castle pre Christmas. I’m delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and our surroundings. The fairy lights, decorations and open fires certainly enhance the festive mood. Our eclectic menus cater for most palates however, if not, our chefs are always willing to accommodate any dietary requirement. Covid19 and it unpredictability has made the past 11 months very difficult for everyone. It has been a rollercoaster for the hospitality industry with 3 closures to date. We are very much looking forward to reopening our doors once it is deemed safe to do so. We will as ever follow all advice and utilize all safety measures to continue to ensure the safety of our staff and guests. We look forward to welcoming you and all our loyal guests in the months ahead. In the meantime we must all continue to do our bit. Wishing you and your family safe passage through these difficult times.

We visited in Dec 2020 with a motive.... looking for a wedding venue. We decided to make a night of it as it was a long drive from home. Before our arrival, excellent communication via e-mail which is really appreciated as sometimes phoning does not work due to work / meetings etc. The property itself is just what we love; old world charm. If you're looking for rigid 90 degree angles, this is not the place for you. The building is old; that's why people visit. We found all of the rooms (we got to see a few) amazingly comfortable; the old building has the old world charm and the stables out back are more modern, but still with a very warm feeling. Olivia, the Wedding Co-Ordinator, patiently waited for us as we were over 1 hour late (we did phone to advise of same). My heart dropped when we arrived and she told us that there was actually a wedding reception about to start, but that didn't stop her from showing us round the castle and going through some of the basics with us... talk about multi-tasking! Thank you, Olivia! If you want a night (or two) to just forget it all, I highly recommend Cabra Castle. We will return!

I wish you the very best with all your wedding preparation. Should you have any queries or require any assistance with your wedding planning, please call us or email us. although we are currently closed due to Covid19 restrictions, limited staff are on hand daily to offer any assistance you may need. We hope to re welcome you once we are allowed to reopen our doors. In the meantime we hope you and your families stay safe.

We were in total awe on arrival. Fabulous lights everywhere. Even chandeliers hanging from the trees. A very impressive castle, staff friendly and attentive. Dinner was good a like mix up caused us to miss a course from our 5 course meal. I thought this may have reflected in the bill but no nothing taken off. I had the crab starter, a little disappointed as I was expecting a hot crab cake but that was my own issue, hake was fabulous. Partners ribs and beef were also excellent. Breakfast was good you would miss the buffet items but that's covid issue not hotel. Beautifully cooked full breakfast. Hotel taking all safety measures with covid, place very clean and everything wiped, each table has hand sanitizer. Only tiny niggle was our room, we were courtyard, pictures show free standing baths we had no bath. Bed was two singles pushed together, room not great, lovely shower and bathroom though. Overall I would highly recommend I'd just spend a few bob on a room upgrade! FABULOUS!

I’m delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am glad you enjoyed the majority of your stay with us and apologies for the little mix up at dinner? I have taken your feedback on board with regard to your room. The majority of our rooms have been upgraded in the last few years, however we are aware there a a small few in need of minor attention. I hope you will return to visit in the future post our third lockdown, and wish you and your family continued good health.

I stayed in Cabra castle with my family on 19/12/20. I was looking forward to this as I had stayed here previously. I was very disappointed to find the lack of compliance with Covid guidelines in the hotel. There was multiple groups of large family gatherings all at the same time (40th birthday,60th birthday, communions). I was shocked to see such large groups. I found it most concerning that the vast majority of guests were in the restaurant and bar without wearing any masks. The breakfast was served in the large ballroom which a buffet breakfast was provided and again large groups of people not compliant with mask wearing when using the buffet. The whole experience made our family feel very uncomfortable. We unfortunately had to leave the restaurant early and also leave the bar due to the large groups of families/friends at tables.

I am disappointed to read your view and strongly disagree with it content. Cabra castle hotel has made every effort to ensure the safety of our staff and guests during these very difficult and unprecedented times. We have gone above and beyond in providing a safe place for guests to celebrate. As members of the Failte Ireland safety charter there are strict guidelines that we must, and do adhere to. The guidelines state that no more than 6 persons can be seated at a table, this has always been adhered to irrespective of the occasion or reason for celebration. There are a number of function rooms at Cabra castle, more than adequate space to comfortably distance individual celebrations. You also mention breakfast buffet yet to fail to mention that every item on the buffet was in individual portions to avoid unnecessary touching, Anti bacterial wipes and sanitiser were also on the buffet table for guest convenience. Hot breakfast was individually served as was the tea/coffee. A lot of thought was put into the location of where our breakfast was served. Breakfast was served in a large room (our ballroom) , which normally can seat up to 280 guests, to allow for adequate social distancing between tables and provide for more ventilation given the high ceilings of the room. Despite continuous staff requests for guests to wear face covering when they leave their tables, there are some who feel they are above reproach and simply refuse or forget to do so. I apologize to you that these indiscretions made you feel uncomfortable. We are trying our utmost to enforce these safety measures but when there are some who refuse to take personal responsibility we are left in a very difficult situation. Our staff go above and beyond with the sanitisation of surfaces such as tables and chairs and high touch point surfaces after each guest use. We have sanitizer at every entrance with signage directing our guests to wear face coverings as each of our staff do. Individual sanitizers are on all our tables. Our staff have received one to one inductions with regard to Covid19 to ensure they are fully aware of the severity of the current situation. Anti microbial film is present on our main door handles, staircase railings, and reception desk. We have been inspected by both Failte Ireland and the HSE in relation to Covid19 compliance and both have been beyond satisfied that we are compliant. The weekend before Christmas historically has been a time when people get together. Given the year that has been, this has never been more important hence the reason government chose to ease restrictions. Although Cabra castle may have appeared to be busy, we are confident that with all the measures that we have put in place, we operated this past weekend, in the safest manner possible given the current climate. Thankfully, We have not had, to date, any reports of staff or guest testing positive. We are hopeful that this will continue. Our dedicated team play a huge role in our compliance thus far. Feedback such as this only serves to. Dishearten and undermine their efforts. As a guest, I understand that it is difficult to understand the level of precautions that must be taken in order to open our doors. The paper work, and provision of PPE is never ending. Every decision that is made must be discussed at length to ensure there are no implications to the safety of our guests or staff. The majority of our guests appreciate all the effort that goes into operating safety and are happy to accept that we are doing our absolute utmost to ensure a safe environment for them to socialize.

Myself and my husband decided to come here with our 6 month old daughter once the restrictions had eased. We had a fabulous stay, the castle is full of charm and Is beautiful! Staff are wonderful and so helpful! We stayed in a room in the courtyard and it was huge and so clean. Loved the decor. It was very safe throughout the castle, plenty of hand sanitizers and we got an information leaflet regarding COVID guidelines in the castle on arrival. We had dinner and the tables were well spaced out. Food was gorgeous as per usual! Had lunch at the bar also, chicken wings were fab. All tables had individual hand sanitiser bottles on them. We met the lovely dogs again too. My baby was loving all the attention from staff haha. Nothing was too much hassle to ask for. If you’re looking for a proper castle with quality and high standards than this is it! We viewed cabra as a wedding venue a few years ago and it was just stunning! Thanks to all the staff for making my baby’s first holiday so enjoyable and looking after us so well! we created lots of fond memories here and we will be back no doubt :)
