The Farnham Estate Spa and Golf Resort is lauded for its serene and welcoming atmosphere, combining modern amenities with historic charm, though some areas could feel less inviting. Nestled in a picturesque setting, the resort provides an idyllic escape, yet encounters with service can be inconsistent. Guests frequently commend the amiable staff and the spacious, stylish rooms, despite occasional cleanliness concerns.
The spa, with its outdoor pool and saunas, stands out as a pinnacle of relaxation. However, the value proposition is met with some criticism regarding food and service costs.

My wife and I were here for a family wedding recently. It truly is a fantastic wedding venue and amazing place to stay. The Hotel itself is very luxurious with plush sofas and seating. Maxwell's Restaurant offers a wide range of excellent food, catering for vegetarians and vegans and the prices are quite reasonable. The rooms were really spacious, clean and ultra modern with lots of USB charging points and even a HDMI socket on the with which you could connect your own personal external device, such as a Firestick, etc. to the large screen TV. The washroom is really spacious also with both a large bath and a separate shower. The beds are very comfy. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and will go out of their way to assist you. The leisure centre is also amazing with a unique swimming pool that is both indoors and outdoors. All the facilities are accessible to those with disabilities and although Blue Badge parking is limited to just a few spaces, there is a constant shuttle van transporting patrons to and from the carparks. Apparently there are acres and acres of grounds and lakes to explore but we just did have the required energy to take advantage of this. All in all, this a beautiful place to stay.

Just home from one night stay in Farnham. The hotel is beautifully decorated, warm, homely atmosphere with very comfortable warm bedrooms. The room was so dark and quiet, I didn't hear a single "hotel noise" during the night and had a great night sleep. We wanted a relaxing break so ordered Room Service instead of visiting the bar. The food was pretty substandard for the price, the white wine was warm, which was a pity as breakfast was so delicious with a huge range on offer. I always love when there is a breakfast menu as well as a buffet. I had gorgeous pancakes and fruit and a nice hot silver pot of coffee. The spa was spacious but still felt very busy morning and evening. It is open to members as well as guests and a result felt more like a leisure centre at times. The sauna and outdoor pool a particular highlight. I had a 90 min massage treatment which was outstanding, I particularly liked the treatment area and changing rooms which had a luxurious Nordic feel. The reception staff in the spa were not overly friendly or helpful. No towels or tour even though it was our first visit. I also think it should be mandatory for everyone to wear robes in and around the tea and relaxation rooms. You could see fellas in their jocks legging it around which took from the relaxating atmosphere and again made it feel a bit like a leisure centre. The spa also needs to be cleaned and mopped more regularly. Farnham is so close to perfect. Some little touches in the spa and better evening bar food would really add to the experience. Overall it was a gorgeous stay and a great place to go for a winter escape.

I was tasked with finding a hotel to celebrate our friend's 50th birthday. Even from the time of enquiry, the hotel were super responsive and gave us a fantastic package for two twin rooms, afternoon tea and dinner included. Access to the spa was also free and any treatments booked were extra.
From the second we arrived, we were taken aback by how beautful the grounds and the building itself was. We all immediately had a smile on our face, and check in was an easy process.
Also, excellent that they have 10 electric chargers, which I struggled with but that was a problem on my side! They have a car that will pick you up from the carpark as there is a small incline but you can easily walk to and from the hotel.
Afternoon tea was amazing, I wish that they might have offered a selection of teas, but we were only offered one type. The sweet and savoury options were fantastic.
Then, we went into the spa and infinity pool, it was really busy and no loungers available, but we were happy enough to leave our robes to the side. It was absolutely a fantasic experience, as were the steam rooms!!
We then went on to dinner at Maxwell's restaurant, and the staff there are spectacular! I feel they're run off their feet a bit but they didn't let the standards slip at all.
There was some great entertainment in the bar downstairs, which is a little cosy and fills up fast but was very enjoyable.
Next morning before we left we had a beautful breakfast and a 6km walk around the grounds, it was a stunning walk!
This is definitely a spot you must visit, for any special occasion - you're going to be spoiled!!

We visited Farnham for two nights (Monday to Wednesday) in the week leading up to Easter so we were expecting prices to be high however we were pleasantly surprised to snag a two night deal (B&B) for under €450. We stayed in a Standard Deluxe room (number 301 on the top floor). We were again pleasantly surprised on arrival to discover that our room was actually a suite with a separate sitting room area! Very modern finishes in the room & it was spotless. Coffee and tea making equipment and bottled water were provided however there was no fridge in the room which was a shame. There was also only one TV remote for two TV’s which was a bit strange however we did not request a second one from reception which I’m sure would have been provided if requested. Bathrobes & slippers were also provided in the room for wearing to the spa which was a nice touch. Would have liked a couple of extra towels & some washcloths but that’s just being picky. Hotel spa, gym & pool were very enjoyable, however the wooden panels in the sauna were broken, gym equipment was quite old & the surround of the pool felt a wee bit grimey. We ate in the bar on the first night & Cedar Tree on the second night. There were a few gluten free items which I appreciated, however the price of food & drink was quite high (€48 for an 8oz steak!, a typo surely?) & not necessarily reflected by the quality of the food. Breakfast was elevated buffet fare & there were was a dedicated station to gluten free items (albeit limited to a few slices of terrible gf bread, some prepackaged gf muffins and some gf porridge oats). Hotel staff were delightful & friendly throughout our stay. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Farnham & would agree with the four star rating.

My partner and I recently stayed at Farnham Estate for a Christmas treat, but the experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, our room was freezing. We turned on the heating, hoping it would warm up while we went for lunch, but it remained cold. After visiting the spa and returning to the room around 5:45 PM, it was still unbearably cold. When we contacted reception, a staff member checked the radiator and explained that the heating was centrally controlled and only operated at certain times, advising us to wait another hour or two. This was unacceptable as we needed to get ready for dinner.
Dinner itself was also disappointing. I ordered a rare steak, but it was served medium, and the accompanying mushroom was burnt. My partner’s chicken skewer starter was overcooked and far below the standard we expected. After dinner, we went to the cellar bar for a drink, but when we returned to our room, it was freezing again. My partner went to reception to complain, and while the staff apologized and promised to send an electric heater, it never arrived. We had no choice but to sleep in a cold room, which only added to our frustration.
Given the price we paid and the high standards we’ve experienced at Farnham Estate in the past, this stay was incredibly disappointing.

We have stayed in many hotels in Ireland, and I would consider the Farmhouse to be one of the best. Unlike many hotels that charge exorbitant prices for what you receive, the quality here is exceptional. I have visited this hotel three times, and the atmosphere is designed for relaxation. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone has a comfortable stay, providing transportation options like a bus or taxi to the car park, that is only a five-minute walk. The spa, gym, and massage services are outstanding, and the food at the restaurant is excellent. Breakfast was fantastic, and all the staff were incredibly friendly. There's also a bar that feels just like your local pub.

I recently stayed at the farnham for with my siblings for a family get away before my wedding. I choose the farnham because it has been a favourite spot of mine over the last few years but I will not be returning after this time unfortunately. We stayed for two nights. On the first night, the pool spa rooms were well above capacity and it smelt like a dirty nappy around the spa room area with no cleaners to be seen. The second day it was the day of the story but by 3pm the storm had well and truly passed but the outdoor pool was not open and remained closed for the duration of the next day also until after check out times which was very dissapointing. The pool could have easily been cleaned and reopened but it was not an option and many guests asked the maintenance people and we were all told different opening times. On top of this - the indoor pool was freezing cold.
To move on from the pool - the all day menu is absolute day light robbery. €19.50 for the smallest fish I have seen and €8.50 for two thin slices of bread and butter pudding. It was a disgrace.
It is sad to see the changes they have made as when we first started going to the farnham a few years ago - the menu used to be fantastic.
It is a real shame it was such a bad experience and very overpriced for what we received. Poor standard.

Stayed here last week with my husband and 4 month old baby. I booked over the phone in January as the sale wasn’t going through on my card. I never received any confirmation or anything so I called the week before to confirm everything was in order. On check in we were informed that we should have made dinner reservation in advance as per the emails we received. I explained I didn’t get any emails and they said they can see my email was put in the fax field. We were told we could eat in the bar. We headed to our room which we were grateful was ready slightly early. We took the lift up and walked through the corridors. We reached some steps which I was disappointed about as we had a heavy buggy. I don’t understand why we were given a room up steps as they had provided a cot for us and knew we had a baby. It became clear though. We were in the furthest room - they didn’t want our baby disturbing guests. The bathrobes and slippers which are to be worn to the spa area are very small. They barely fit around me and meant by husband couldn’t go to the spa area As he is a lot bigger. The hotel is beautiful very clean and modern but the staff could be trained in customer service. Some nice words and a smile wouldn’t be too much to ask for. For dinner we had to take the disabled lift to the bar with the buggy….and we got stuck in the lift. I am aware how to use one of these lifts and I even pressed the up and down buttons and the bell but it was like the power went. I rang my husband who had taken the stairs and he tried calling the lift from the outside and it wouldn’t move. The staff said I just didn’t use it properly. My husband had the burger and I had the curry: the curry is a really small portion. The desserts were lovely. No one came near us for the bill so I stood at the bar for about 10 minutes so I could pay. We had a good nights sleep. The room is nice and dark. The next morning we were put in a room on our own for breakfast. I really felt that babies shouldn’t be seen or heard while I was at the hotel. All in all I think the hotel would be perfect for couples or a spa break but isn’t suitable for children. I might go back when my baby is 18.

Myself and my husband recently stayed at the Farnham Estate and had a wonderful time. I booked it on a whim same day to take advantage of the last of the summer weather. When I called to book the lady on reservations advised there was a special offer which was cheaper than the price quoted on alternative sites which was a nice surprise! It also included breakfast which was fabulous, as well as a full buffet there was also pancakes, poached eggs etc that could be ordered from your server. While I was booking the lady advised check in was from 4pm but we were welcome to come earlier and use the spa/ pool if we wished. We did arrive early and to our surprise our room was already ready for us which was great! We ate in the bar and the food was fabulous and the barman was very knowledgeable, made me a passion fruit mojito no problem even though it wasn’t on the menu. We didn’t try either of the restaurants as the bar food was so good and had so many options we wanted to try them all! The outdoor infinity pool was gorgeous with amazing views and also heated so even in mid September it was so warm I could’ve spent the day there! I also visited the spa and had an ESPA calm massage, the lady who gave me my treatment was wonderful and knew just what I needed spending time with me to choose the oil I preferred prior to the massage. After the massage I was taken to the relaxation room and offered some mint chocolate ice cream which was a lovely touch! Our room was beautiful and had a smart tv so we could watch Netflix and had a patio with furniture so we could sit outside and lap up the good weather. We had originally booked for 2 nights but enjoyed it so much we chose to stay an extra night! All in all a fabulous experience. Highly recommend!

Went to Farnham the day of the storm, before I made a booking I called to ask if there is internet given that everything was down in most places and I was told there is. So I booked my stay solely because of that as I had an online exam needed to take and I wanted to relax after in the spa. To my surprise I get to the check in and I’m told there is no internet and they don’t know when it will be back, which was really frustrating because I could’ve chose to go elsewhere and because of that I ended up having to cancel the exam.
Despite the inconvenience I decided to make the most of my stay regardless, to my surprise I get to my room, check the bedsheets and there’s a bunch of black marks/ stains/ crusty stuff all over my bedding inside and out. Took pictures and videos and went to the reception and it was taken lightly and all that was said was oh we will send housekeeping to change the bedding. Housekeeping came and casually said looks like there was something in the washing machine washed with the bedding. For a 5 star this was disappointing and for the price as well , when the bed was made initially you could clearly tell that that bedding is dirty and guests can’t sleep in evidently stained bedding!! I frequent hotels a lot, I give honest and accurate reviews and when you travel solo it’s very rare that your complaints are taken seriously !
I then went to the spa still with hopes to still enjoy and it was very busy I went back to the room 15mins later, went to have dinner later on didn’t enjoy it! So for most my stay I was just in the room.
All in all the rooms are nice, hoping for a better experience if I come back.
