Just back from a relaxing weekend in the Farnham arms.
Staff all very friendly. Looked after by Thomas both evenings at dinner he’s a star. Spoke with the manager Michael who was very accommodating re another booking for a larger group a very helpful and pleasant gentleman.
Rooms not modern but very clean and everything you could need.
Hairdryer, tv, tea and coffee, safe, at least four of the plugs had USB ports. Toiletries in the bathroom soap shower gel and shower cap. Bed was comfy and room was warm. Couldn’t hear any noise from outside until I opened the window.
Breakfast in the morning was delicious and plenty of choice.
We ate both evenings in the Percy French restaurant and couldn’t fault it at all the food was superb.
All in all a good wee break and a lovely town with plenty of quirky pubs and lovely boutiques and loads of choices for eating.

Went on Sunday afternoon as we saw an Irish music song and dance session advertised. This turned out to be excellent, one of the best l have attended. Great music, singing and dancing.
We had food while enjoying the music which was delicious and very reasonable.
Only negative was the slow bar service.
The bar was nicely decorated, with comfortable seating and we will definately return again.

The Farnham arms is a decent spot to grab a pot of tea and a scone but I'd give the carvery a pass. Irish food has move on for the better since this was the main option for a Sunday lunch. Peoples restaurant is located in their building and a much better option all round.

Was looking forward to our one night stay and spa at Farnham estate.

Firstly we’d like to knowledge the spa therapist who where extremely friendly and talented , but unfortunately the rest of our experience was a little disappointing.

Our room had a terrible view of a side walk way and bush . Our room privacy was poor . There was no bin in the room other than a tiny bathroom bin. No in room entertainment (TV channels poor) or music that we could sit back and relax to while resting. Everything else room wise was just ok .

Dinning experience unfortunately wasn’t great either . No vegan or vegetarian options on main menu , but when asked there was an alternative menu available. Extremely long wait for food and restaurant staff were clearly under pressure.

On check out we expressed our surprise that our spa treatment was more expensive and didn’t match our booking. We had no email confirmation or text message confirmation confirming the booking and booking calls conveniently aren’t recorded as any form of evidence .

We paid the full invoice on check out after speaking to the manager who committed to reviewing the situation and call us back which of course never happened.

I hate to write a negative review , but considering the high price of the stay and lack of follow up this one star is deserved and I’m just telling our story as it was . Hopefully management can implement a simple improvement plan, and I’d like to see them at their best in the future , but unfortunately we won’t be returning .

Noisy and dirty. The bathroom grouting is more black than white. Shower is only accessible if you are less than a UK12 due to a handle taking up half of the space available to stand. Loud music playing all night. A Team by Ed Sheeran was played for an hour straight at 10pm. We called and asked the song to be changed and it continued. This is enough to make any person feel clinically insane. Decor is dated and in need of a refresh. Stains on wallpaper. However, the wallpaper may be thicker than the walls. You can hear every conversation and sound from the surrounding rooms. This is great when your neighbours are listening to the the Russia/Ukraine war on TV at 7am. A motion sensor light positioned opposite the bed meant that unless you fall asleep like a plank of wood, an LED light will come on and blind you as you try to fall asleep. AVOID.

Stayed here on the 23rd of April and had paid 150 euros and to say it was a massive let down and it shouldn't be called a hotel it should only be called a bed and breakfast.
Room was so basic, the bed was so squeaky ,tv had a green colour to it my partner couldn't watch the snooker ,and remote wouldn't work no iron and several things broken in the room.
Tried to get a drink after we left our stuff in room but no bar open till 5 pm .
We went to a function in another place and when we went back at approximately 12 we were told they don't have a residents bar so why are they calling themselves a hotel instead of bed and breakfast.
Only gave it a 1 star as the staff were nice when u could find one and the breakfast was lovely.

A large group of us called in the Farnham Arms on Saturday 29th February last year on a bus trip. It was a cold day with sleet coming down when we arrived into Cavan town. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived into the front lounge / bar which was brilliant serving excellent draught beer and great large screens for any sporting occasion. We were so impressed with the Farnham Hotel that we decided to return in the evening for a meal which was not originally booked. Within 5 minutes Michael the manager had everything organised, really impressed as there was 30 of us. We returned in the evening to delicious sirloin steaks with all the trimmings. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Thank you very much to Michael and his team we had a very enjoyable day and your kind warm hospitality and fantastic food was very much appreciated by all of us.
Thank you.

A seemingly humble hotel right in the middle of the town. FULL marks for service and food. The cleanliness of the rooms is super. The decor might be a little dated to some but I would say quaint and so efficient. Piping hot water and great water pressure in the shower. Excellent value for money. I have stayed in far "fancier" places for 3 times the price and honestly not half the quality. The staff are also so lovely. Nothing fancy or OTT or pretentious.. just great service and quality for a very fair price. I will be back!!!

I was booked into this hotel for a night recently. The hotel is tired-looking but quaint. Room was fine, however toilet was difficult to flush. The main light in the room was flickering on and off and had to be changed. This was done eventually with much apology.
Rooms were extremely noisy throughout the night and there was a loud altercation in one of them which after listening to for over an hour, a phone call had to be made to reception. The Gardaí were called in twice and needless to say, I didn’t get any sleep. I never bothered staying for the breakfast, and will not be visiting this place again.

We just called into this hotel for a bite to eat. The staff were very welcoming and Covid 19 restrictions were well enforced. The barman explained that as my wife ordered roasted great of chicken for dinner that this order usually takes about 30 minutes to cook which in my eyes is the sign of a great staff member. The meal was of excellent quality and well worth the wait? I would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant to everyone.

all pubs differ depending on what they sell your better to inquire of were your staying as to what they stock. most lager would be 4.50 to 5.00 euro depending on pub or hotel.

I'm not sure about the hotel's rates but I think they would likely have a family room and will negotiate a rate if you ask them. Good luck.!
