Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great food, welcoming, great location. Kilkee is a hidden gem for the west of ireland. This place made the trip even more special. Fantastic place to stop off on the way to loop head and if travelling north again. Worth the visit.

We went for dinner here during our staycation in Querrin and it was our favourite meal of the trip. Great service, delicious food and creamy pints for a very reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit!

We found this little place on trip advisor and were thrilled we did! The definition of quality food in a lovely environment. Keanes is a couple of Kms outside kilkee but so was our b&b so it was actually very close to us cross country!! There were 3 of us and perhaps 20 others for food. It was very well spread out between the little bar and restaurant area. This place is a true gem- a real country pub with all its charm preserved. We were served by 2 friendly ladies who couldn’t do enough for us. They were clearly happy and content working which is always a great sign. The food was delicious and the menu was lovely and extremely reasonably priced. All infection control guidelines were in place but it was so laid back and comfortable you would forget about the world of covid!! We will definately be returning in the near future- many thanks for such great hospitality. It’s great to see such lovely places still existing

What can I say, everything about our stay hit the spot. The staff were the main selling point however so unbelievably friendly and accommodating. The room had all the facilities we needed, the wee oven was a cracking wee job and the shower was lovely and powerful. The pub has a rustic charm and is a proper pub, no airs or graces just a great pint of the black stuff and lovely home cooking. We had muscles as a starter and then two steaks for main. They were tender, well priced and delicious. A bit of Russian roulette with the sides but they had every conceivable accompaniment. Couldn't ask for a better stay would highly recommend and will no doubt be back in the future! My only regret is that I can't remember all the staff's names but they were all fantastic

We went to Keanes whilst on holiday in Ireland, late last year, it was to celebrate a birthday we went with 2 friends who live in Kilkee, and it was their recommendation that we went, and what a good choice it was we had steak with chips and garlic mushrooms. it was excellent could not fault the food or the service. we will defiantly go back, next time we are in Ireland.

We were travelling from Tralee to Spiddal on a windy, rainy day. We reached Kilrush near lunchtime but could find no place to park so headed on. By this time my daughter was in need of a bathroom stop. We came to Keane's but only when we got out of the car noticed it was closed. But seeing the door was open to what seemed to be a little shop adjoining, I took a chance and went in. We were met by one of the nicest gentlemen we encountered on our whole trip. He was more than happy to let us in to the restaurant to use the facilities. I loved the décor and only wished we could have lingered to have supper later in the day but our B and B was booked and we had a long way to go . However we chatted awhile before we went on our way. I can't say anything about the food or the accommodations but I can wholeheartedly recommend Keane's for the owner's good will, good humour and gracious Irish hospitality. I hope someday to be back during opening hours. Hopefully others will stop in and sample Michael Keane's Irish warmth, wit and welcome.

In addition to the genuinely warm and welcoming hospitality, the accommodations were first class. The dinner in their restaurant, next to a great little pub, was delicious and the service was with the same warm congeniality. The rooms were really great. Everything you could ask for or need in a Bed & Breakfast. The traditional breakfast was also excellent. And it was all topped off by the little shop in the middle for a snack for the road. My wife and I would make a point of going out of our way (a little way) to stay their again.

This is a tricky one to review. If you want 5* facilities, book a 5* hotel. If you want Michelin Starred food, go find a fancy restaurant. And in each case, make sure your wallet is up to the job. If however, you want a taste of the real Ireland; if you want real Irish hospitality; if you want to sit in a bar, drink Guinness & chat with the locals as if you were old friends; if you want good honest, quality food - and lots of it; if you want accommodation at a bargain price & as a touring base for the west of Ireland, then Keane's is the place for you. We rented one of the self-catering apartments at what can only be described as a true bargain price. So much so that despite having read the reviews (nearly all very positive), we were twitchy about what we would get for our money. We need not have worried. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, well equipped & everything we needed as a touring base. But the star of the show is the pub next door. The food is excellent home-cooked fare, good value & lots of it. Indeed they seem to be constantly worried you don't have enough & always offer you more. The menu offers a wide choice & our two top tips would be the seafood chowder, which is thick & delicious and the roast beef, 100% Irish of course, again loads of it. But the menu has something for everyone. If you want to sit in the corner, eat your meal, sip your beer & then nip back to your apartment, then fine. However, make the effort to prop up the bar & pretty soon you're part of the conversation, the locals & staff chatting away to you as if you've been going in there for 20 years. And conversation is what Irish bars are about; not fruit machines, pool tables & too loud music. We were made to feel so very welcome. At the end of every day, everyone wanted to know where we'd been & had we had a good time? Suggestion abounded of places to go & things to do. So for us, though we like 5* hotels & gourmet food as much as the next man, if we ever go back to the Wild Atlantic Way & the beauty of Ireland, then Keane's is where we'll aim for.
