Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just back from 4 days at Pure Camping. This is a little piece of heaven on the Loop Head Peninsula. Trea, Kevin and family made my son and I feel so welcome and their hospitality and genuine warmth was palatable.

The place is spotless, all your needs are cared for and you still feel like you are partaking in a wilderness experience. We slept in our tent in the woods on the final night and it was the best nights sleep we have had in awhile.Early morning the dawn chorus greeted us and we were awe struck by the varied bird song and their Divine
melody!

Totally recharged since our trip. Highly recommended also are the beautiful local benches, were one may have the beach in its entirety themselves, even on a warm day.

Planning our next trip back already, thanks Trea, Kevin,& Family for making it special for us.

Spent 3 nights in Rowan cabin, 2 adults and 3 children. So as to manage expectations, we had anticipated something akin to a garden shed and were delighted to be completely mistaken. Our 2 room cabin with toilet, picnic bench and private fire pit was beautifully finished and very very cosy during wet weather. With the exception of some more hooks on the wall, there was nothing missing from the experience. The highlight was the view from the sofa bed..... long grasses, immensely peaceful. Trea and Kevin are warm, welcoming and the atmosphere on site is lovely, both for adults and kids. We availed of the pizza oven, ordered in stew from a local restaurant and even had a surprise visit from a crepe van. All in all a delightful camping experience.

A few months ago I stayed with some family in one of the Alder & Rowan cabins at this site, it was a lovely change from hotels and offered much more freedom as there was a trail into the woods right outside our door and a small secluded beach a few minutes away. The open kitchen proved to be a great opportunity to talk to some of the foreign tourists and the nights spent by the fire pit were magical. The gentle dogs who roamed the camp were always friendly and a joy to see. I loved staying here and will definitely be coming back in the future.

We visited in August and stayed in a bell tent. The campsite feels part of the natural surroundings and is very tranquil. The key facilities are basic e.g. toilets, but are clean and cover everything I think that you need. There is plenty to do for a short stay in the surrounding area which is very beautiful. We did not try any of the classes on site e.g. yoga. In addition to the bell tents there are chalets on-site which looked really nice and can like the bell tents be booked by anyone directly online at the Purecamping website.

One thing that did surprise me when we arrived is that there were tents pitched. The Purecamping website all Summer said that there would be no tent pitches until September. Now that we are approaching September the 'tent pitch' options now show on the online booking table but are all blocked out in red as being 'unavailable'. To pitch a tent therefore you need to contract the owners and based on availability and information you give them you may or may not get a tent pitch. From the 'pitched tent' campers that I saw (who seemed to be having a lot of fun) the Pure 'profile' is caucasian, under 45, hetrosexual, with kids. There is nothing wrong with having a family focused campsite in so far as it goes but it would be even better if it was more inclusive. Hopefully Purecamping will change their approach and let those want to pitch tents to book directly on-line like other campsites do.

We arrived on a stormy Friday evening I was running a bit late but when we rang from reception we were greeted with a friendly welcome I was nervous having no stove on such a bad night but was assured the cabin was well insulated and it most definitely was we would have been too hot if we'd had a stove. It exceeded every expectation I had it was an amazing place kids played free smiling as they did we sat outside and played ball on the second evening as it was beautiful....we were sickened we didn't bring our wellies to explore the woods but we fully intend to revisit and explore fully. Can't recommend this place highly enough campers kitchen has loads in it and of you need extra the owners are so helpful.

Great offgrid location near Kilkee and Kilrush on Loop Head. No TV no laptops, star filled night skys, open spaces and woods for kids to explore, community cooking, sauna and yoga available. Beaches nearby but I recommend the Pollock Holes in Kilkee and a meal in Diamond Rocks Cafe after.

I was drawn to this place by all the rave reviews and although it was quite nice to camp there i feel there needs to be some antidote to the hype as the place is far from the perfect utopia of camping that people are making out .If you are an obviously working class tourist or a backpacker on a budget then the welcome mat may not be rolled out so readily for you as it will be for middle class eco wannabies or D4 champions of cappucino culture. laundry facilities were refused to me , the children's slide was dangerously defective with a long piece of metal sticking out at an angle which could have been fixed with a 50c half inch nut and bolt but it was broken when we arrived and was still swinging in the wind when we left. the toilets had some interesting plumbing work with taps and plughole present but no piping going in or out so that some sinks could not be used at all .There was no beach access and the kitchen facilities could have been better. We personally felt a bit shunned and although trumpeting themselves as an eco friendly campsite it is blatantly obvious that every ecological issue that arose when building this place was not fixed in a fully ecological way but rather by throwing a pile of cash at it and so the experience felt more than a bit fake. All in all not a bad place but wear your best clothes and speak in a Dublin 4 accent if you want to be welcomed in pure camping.

It is not a good place for groups. We came with kids, wanted to spend lovely time in relaxing atmosphere by the campfire with the guitar. Unfortunately owners of the camp were asking us from 10 pm to become quiet even though there were very few other customers on the site. The atmosphere there is not relaxing, owners watching every move. Asking us to clean in the kitchen before we even finish to have our bbq. Would not recommend if you want to relax!!

We were a party of five women aged 28-59, most of whom had not been camping for many a year. This was a surprise trip organised by the youngest of our gang. The softer ones in the party were enticed to Querrin with the promise of glamping while the hardier ones were told only that there were tents. What we found was a cosy yet spacious bell tent complete with beds and wood burning stove, with a view of the Shannon estuary and enough distance from other tents that our occasional giddy laughter didn't disturb the other campers. I won't say the beds were the most comfortable in the world but then I'm a big sook who likes her comfort and in any case, the early morning yoga with Trea was more than enough to stretch any stiffnesses out. Don't expect chandeliers and champagne, instead there are fire pits & eco-living & chooks running round the gravel floor of the kitchen shack. It's perfect.

There is an odd review on here that jars with me a lot. We are a gang of muckers from Tipp. We are not latte-sipping Hunter-toting precious suburbanites. We were welcomed and made to feel completely at home (as much as one can feel at home under canvas with 4 women). Trea could not have been more helpful, advising us where to go & what to do. If you come expecting 5 star glamour you'll be disappointed but happily (& in contrast to what the rather snobbish reviewer said) the place is unpretentious, chilled out and fairly hipster-free. It doesn't have access to the shore but the shore is only a short walk away and the fabulous beaches & rockpools of Kilkee are only a 10 min drive away.
We also went to Thallasotherapy spa in Kilkee & went horse riding in Querrin with Carmen - highly recommend both. The whole thing made for an amazing weekend.
I'm already making plans to return with Himself & the smallies, the place is very family friendly too.

5stars for the whole experience. Highly recommended!

We didn't feel like camping in Ireland because of the rain (too many bad experiences of being flooded and jumping into the car in the middle of the night) but we like camping abroad so when we read about Kevin and Trea's place in a part of ireland that we don't know very well with the option of bell tents already set up and some of them furnished, we thought it was worth giving it a try. We weren't lucky with the weather but still had a great time. We were there three nights but it felt (in a good sense) much longer - like stepping out of our normal time. It was a real break and the tent was fantastic, a really comfortable futon and a cute little stove to warm the place up. We did some nice cycling in the area, great places to eat too. The people that go to this campsite all seemed very friendly (and kevin and Trea are great too) which was an added bonus - thanks to that man who gave us a drop of milk for our breakfast!
