Beautiful views/dark room. Bed linen very old, worn - blanket&top cover?! Unhygienic. 1 chair-2 sharing. Tiny TV not working, no remote. Shower FILTHY top&lower ridges. Room not cleaned 1 day. Breakfast good/dirty knife. Friendly hosts.
Lovely guest house with a great location and view of the bay. The staff, friendly and efficient a credit to Johnny and Caroline. Good Covid-19 protocol all round too. The room was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities and the view just perfect. Breakfast was good and the dinner was fabulous. The starter, main and dessert faultless. The wine list is small but a very good selection. Over all a lovely 2 days, thank you Johnny. A revisit is a must.
Had early dinner with my wife on her birthday. Extensive menu with additional specials on the night. Staff were helpful and friendly. Spacious restaurant and nice space between all tables. We had really nice table overlooking the strand.
We were only in Kilkee for one night and booked The Strand for our evening meal. We had a nice table by the window with a lovely view of the beach and the harbour. The staff were all young women who were very friendly and very pleasant to chat with one of whom is owners daughter. It was a couple of weeks ago so I cannot reach exactly what we had, the starters were good and I know I had the seabass for mains which was very nice. My Other Half I think had Fish & Chips. The chips we had were very good, clean, freshly cooked in clean oil unlike the fries we had in various places over the previous week. The only poor element were the vegetable side dishes, limp, tasteless and over cooked. They had all the appearance of being left overs from lunch and just re-heated for the evening service. Overall a very nice meal with friendly service with just one negative . …
We have just came back after the most beautiful stay in this fab guest house. I couldn't rate it enough. It is family run and they literally can't do enough for you. We had our 2 year old daughter with us who has multiple allergies and they were super in easing our minds with safe foods. The food is exceptional we ate breakfast and dinner there and I have to say it's probably the nicest we have had. If you are heading to kilkee this and looking for top service with both food and kindness this is definitely the place to book. The views are also stunning and an added bonus. Thank you Soo much Johnny and Caroline for making our stay cation one we won't forget.
Fab spot , lovely and considerate staff 👍 Food and atmosphere so good Not to mention the morning views this weekend , rooms were clean and every thing you needed in hand . Amazing job during these times Highly recommend
We booked a table for 6pm by window. When we arrived we were asked for it back by 8 by manager/owner as regulars would be coming in after mass. Same person upon approaching our table warned our children not to blow out the candles (and not in a friendly sort of way). Food was average... that would be fine considering location but staff were totally inattentive. The ‘manager’ offered to bring the kids food first. It arrived 50 mins later with our mains. Empty restaurant yet 4 tables were on top of each other.... uncomfortably so... during meal and at payment we were never asked if our food was ok. Focus seemed to be on tables arriving after. Staff need to be supported to communicate with customers. They are young and will benefit from good guidance. Beautiful location though.
We had dinner for 35 folks at The Strand the night before our son's wedding. Everyone had travelled from various locations in the US (except two from Belfast) for a destination wedding at the Cliffs of Moher. The food was excellent, especially the mussels, scallops and fish & chips. The service was superb, every dinner was delivered correctly, hot and delicious, with perfect portion sizes. The wine glasses never went empty, and everyone enjoyed the evening. We returned two nights later to enjoy another dinner with a beautiful view of the sunset before heading home.
We stayed as a family of 4 for 5 nights. We ate there twice and food and view was great. You should book for food if you want a window view. We did not expect all the luxuries of a hotel as it is a guesthouse and served it's purpose well. Johnny and Caroline were happy to chat and inform and make recommendations. Many of us went for a walk most mornings before breakfast, along the beach up the cliffs and back..Breakfast great, as much tea and toast as you want. Staff friendly!
I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 night stay on 31 July & 1 Aug with a friend. John and his wife Caroline made us feel most welcome. I have to add the weather was glorious which certainly added to the joy of our visit. We dined the first night there and the second night in the Stella Maris around the corner. Both meals were excellent but I think the Strand was marginally better. Being honest the place is a little dated but the stunning views from the window seat in the bay window of out bedroom more than compensated for the decor. The price was very reasonable for high season.
