The K Club is a stylish country resort, tucked away in the Kildare countryside but just on Dublin’s doorstep, firmly anchored in old-school Irish hospitality in a delightfully relaxed and unfussy way. The K Club is an exceptional backdrop to laidback country stays. With an authentic country mansion at its heart and comfortable contemporary wings, the fabulous décor, attentive staff and an impressive range of things to do both indoors and outdoors set the tone for days that can be as chilled or as full as you like, as there are scheduled and bespoke activities for you to dip in and out of, just as suits you. Set in lush countryside, overlooking formal gardens and its own pair of championship golf courses, The K Club has a wide choice of bars and restaurants, handsome drawing rooms and magnificent interiors with elegantly classic furnishings. The 128 spacious bedrooms are each individually designed with great attention to detail, with bathrooms that feature hand-painted murals. To ensure you get maximum pleasure from your dining experiences at The K Club, work up an appetite by playing one of the two Arnold Palmer-designed championship golf courses, host to the Ryder Cup in 2006, try kayaking on the estate’s private mile-long stretch of the River Liffey or experience the noble and ancient art of falconry, getting up close and personal with a stunning selection of birds of prey. Enjoy horse riding, playing a few games of tennis or fishing on the Liffey or the well-stocked lakes for pike, perch and brown trout, carp and tench, with the expert tuition of one of The K Club’s ghillies. With all equipment provided, this is an exhilarating way to spend a few hours, and even complete beginners catch fish in these well-stocked waters. Get out in the fresh country air on horseback where, from quiet lanes for beginners to full cross-country courses for the adventurous, you’ll be well minded by experienced K Club instructors on this classic country day out. Simply follow one of the gentle mapped garden walks, exploring the grounds at your own leisurely pace, or take the resort bicycles for a short spin to the cosy Straffan Inn, the pub in the nearby village which has been serving locals for over 100 years, opening its doors originally in 1920. Enjoy your drinks, with the concierge team collecting you when you are ready to return home to The K Club. If the weather isn’t cooperating, you could take a wine cellar or guided history tour, enjoy the beloved ritual of afternoon tea in one of the drawing rooms, or work your way through the menu of indulgent spa treatments in the award-winning K Spa, delivered by exceptional therapists. From deep tissue massages to cutting-edge skin treatments, there are relaxing and rejuvenating options to suit everyone at The K Spa. Rainy days are also a good time to experience the high-tech excitement of golf in K Golf World, a sophisticated suite of 8 state-of-the-art golf simulators, with spacious and luxurious bays, designed for up to 4 golfers at a time. In K Golf World at The K Club you can virtually play some of the world’s finest golf courses and improve your game, all while leaving your wet gear at home. For children there are Kids Club activities during school holidays, including movies, kids discos, treasure hunts, face painting, arts and crafts and duck races, as well as outdoor options like tennis and cycling, with families welcome to use the resort bicycles together to go exploring. Fuel your sense of adventure as a family and do some something different together every day with the impressive range of on-site activities at The K Club.

Many guests commend the attentive and warm service, adding to the hotel's appeal. Its diverse amenities, including pristine golf courses, a serene spa, and various dining options, receive high marks for quality, although some guests question the value, pointing to steep prices and extra charges. We visited in February 2020 and from the onset it was clear that our stay would meet our expectations.
Unfortunately many Hotels these days offer the marketing hype but fail to deliver, not at the K Club.
A warm welcome by immaculately presented staff and a very efficient check in combined with the whole ambience of Reception proved to be the benchmark for our stay.
Our very large room was well equipped and presented, scrupulously clean and left nothing to be desired, a very impressive and comfortable bed with a lovely touch of monogrammed bed linen.
In many hotels of the same ratings there are often disappointing details which distract from the overall feel of a Hotel, little discrepancies such as a tatty carpet, knocks on furniture, items missing, even just a bulb out, petty to some but in reality the attention to detail makes the difference because when I walk into a Hotel room I want to feel as though I was the first person to stay in it.
A huge bathroom included a huge bath which just happened to be large enough for two, as well as a walk in shower, with towels in abundance.
We enjoyed afternoon tea and noted the attentiveness of the staff, a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes, the tiny scones to die for.
Breakfast was a grand affair, I love breakfasts and again, a benchmark for choice and quality ingredients, the jams, joghurts and pastries served at the table another little touch.
Well done the K Club on delivering!

Excellent stay at this large yet still uniquely personal 5* hotel.

The room overlooking the Liffey was large and luxurious with every comfort in mind. The grounds provided great walks regardless of the poor weather.
Unusually, for such a high end hotel, there is a very good range of dining options. Top class fine dining in the restaurant and more informal dining in the equine themed bar.

Then surprisingly the hotel owns the local and very authentic Irish village pub which serves a limited but great value meal. The pub is a pleasant and easy 20 minute stroll from the hotel on top of which the concierge service offers a complimentary ride both there and back.

The staff were habitually and consistently welcoming and friendly.

For guests with electric vehicles there is ample free charging available.

There is a spa with large pool and other facilities which I would rate as serviceable but not on a par with a hotel of this standard. I was expecting Four Seasons/Ritz Carlton spa standard but it was more Virgin Active. Somewhat basic in my opinion but with enormous potential to upgrade it to great. (Photo of foyer of spa)

I can’t wait to return!

I have wanted to visit the K Club for a long time, but have never been able to come to terms with why a hotel room for the night costs so much. We took the plunge and booked a package including 2 nights b&b, a 4 course dinner and a spa treatment each.

And what can I say - you get what you pay for! From the moment we walked through the front doors, we were treated like old and valued friends. We felt so welcome. Reception greeted us by name, and a very friendly porter helped deliver our bags to our room, which had been very kindly upgraded. He explained all about the hotel and facilities en route to our room. All of the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special - from the reception staff, to the cleaners, to the restaurant staff.

Our dinner in the Barton restaurant was quite simply the best food we have ever eaten. The Somalier helped me choose a beautiful bottle of wine, which we were able to finish in the bar after the meal. The cocktails in the bar were excellent also!

We decided to have room service breakfast on our last day, and my partner cheekily requested pancakes on the form which was not on the room service menu, in addition to eggs benedict. Low and behold, when breakfast arrived, there they were! (So I think we might owe you for a third breakfast!).

Our massages in the spa were great, and the hotel was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations. Despite the hotel being very large, it feels very intimate - like visiting an old (very rich) friend's home.

All in all, every hotel visit from now on will now be judged on a scale of 1 to K Club, and I highly doubt anything will come close. Until next time!

An impressive hotel with friendly staff but needs significant investment and improvement of food and service to be truly 5 star. As mentioned by other reviewers the breakfast service was poor. We repeatedly had to ask for basic items like cutlery, milk for tea etc. Toast always cold by the time breakfast arrived. The food quality was good however. Room service was a complete joke - overpriced and tiny portions - when questioned with the server we were told ‘that’s what I was given.’ We had issues with restaurant bookings and transport too.
On the plus side we loved the pool, rooms were great (apart from wind noise) and appreciated the kids goodie bag on arrival. We enjoyed the fairy trail and horse riding and a visit to a nearby pet farm. Found that there was not really any family space in the hotel and as a result didn’t get to relax and mix with other guests as you usually would. The concierge and reception staff were friendly and helpful. We did enjoy our stay and appreciate that the staff are working very hard in difficult circumstances. Given the significant expense we’ll probably look elsewhere for a family break next time. For older couples interested in golf etc worth a try.

Overall a very nice hotel however food quality and service was poor on the whole. First night we opted for room service as they couldn't accommodate us in the bar or restaurant. We were initially given the option of a more expanded choice of menu, this was then revoked. Fine. When it did come, it took over an hour (8pm) with two small children losing the will. The pizza was burnt, same with goujons and the main curry was like a tapa size (at 22 euros plus). We rang back and they reordered. Another hour and visits downstairs (the restaurant manager asked was I from a different room - obviously were numerous people with issues). Second time around, no pizzas (none 'left' apparently) so received a plate heaped with chicken goujons instead. Through all of this the communication was shocking and no apologies. Basic things at breakfast were also awry- lack of basic cutlery etc.

At checkout the receptionist that day was very understanding - refunded the room service. Which was kind but wasn't about the money. Pool area etc was great. Understand there are challenges post covid etc and I understand a lot of staff were new. Still, no excuses for lack of attention in key areas and we'll short of 5 star standards based off this visit.

The K Club is conveniently situated about 40 mins drive from Dublin airport. The hotel has been extended over the years but is built around a beautiful original Georgian building, and is set in extensive, manicured grounds with two stunning championship golf courses.

We had a large deluxe room; generally quiet, very comfortable bed, nicely furnished and had a modern bathroom with quality products. TV could have been bigger! We were awake by 7.15am watching the Olympics but surprised that there was a noisy lawnmower going outside at that time!

Neither of us are golfers but we had plenty to do; relaxing in the hotel, walking and cycling the trails skirting the golf courses and air rifle shooting off site. The only slight disappointment was the pool/spa area which is quite new but already feels a bit tired, especially the changing room and shower area.

We had two great dinners; the first night at the signature Barton restaurant and the second night at the more informal Palmer. Both times the food was excellent and reasonable value for money. Breakfast service was a bit slow. Drinks in the cocktail bar were fun.

Overall, this was an excellent, relaxing short break. Service could not have been more friendly and helpful from front desk, porters, servers and cleaners.

We stayed here as a family of three as a Wedding Anniversary treat in late October. Imminent restrictions loomed due to Covid-19 and to say we were stressed was an understatement. That is until we reached the tree lined drive into the resort. As we walked through the doors of the hotel I could see my partner's shoulders relax and they stayed that way for the duration of our stay.
Nothing is overlooked here even with Covid-19 guidelines in place, we experienced true 5 star hospitality. From Brendan playing superhero with our Batman obsessed son, Mairead's warm welcome at check in and care throughout our stay, Matea's perfect dinner service and Guilia's cheery breakfast I can honestly say, as parents of a boisterous 4 year old who don't often feel carefree when out as a family, we were exactly that for our entire stay.
Dinner in the Barton restaurant was beautiful with wine pairings for each course chosen by the oh so knowledgeable Lisa. As our son tired, room service dessert was easily arranged and promptly delivered including a sweet Happy Anniversary message with petit fours. Another highlight in current times was the individual pastry tiers for breakfast. Compared to other breaks away, this certainly was the best take on continental breakfast. Dairy free yoghurts and butter were provided readily for our intolerant son.
We managed to fit a swim into our one night break. The pool is beautiful and the changing rooms comfortable and spacious. A walk after checkout on the vast, well kept grounds rounded up a perfect stay.

We look forward to returning again as a couple to experience the spa, get a massage and perhaps a tipple in the Cocktail Lounge.

Last weekend I stayed at the K Club for one night and the only complaint I had was that I'd wished we'd booked in for longer! It was the most enjoyable and relaxing night away and only 30 mins from Dublin so we arrived nice and early on the Saturday to make the most of the beautiful location. It was our third time to visit the hotel and I have to say it never disappoints. Our room was so luxurious and spacious with a bed to match. We took advantage of the hotel's bikes and cycled all around the grounds, there's so much to see. We also took advantage of the pool area later that evening which has a jacuzzi and outdoor hot tub - the hot tub is a must! The staff were all incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly during our stay and incredibly helpful with any questions we had. I already can't wait to book my next stay at the K Club!

We visited the k club the weekend after it reopened. This was our second visit and we wondered if it would live up to the wonderful weekend we had before, especially in the Covid era. I’m pleased to say it did. We had an amazing massage in the spa, two wonderful meals in the restaurant and loved the change to breakfast to have a ‘afternoon tea’ style tray instead of the open buffet. We enjoyed a few drinks in the bar and our room was gorgeous. We felt safe throughout and the staff were visibly cleaning/sanitising everything. The staff were impeccable in general and very friendly. We will be back again as soon!

So, just wanted a wee break nearby, something a little special to celebrate our 21st Wedding Anniversary. The K Club is a very short 30-40 minutes from our home so perfect for us to get down early Friday afternoon and we were sitting down to lunch 2.15 in the Media Puzzle Bar. From the moment we arrived we immediately felt comfortable, relaxed and knew we would enjoy it! Staff were attentive, professional, helpfull but with a relaxed easy going manner which we loved.
All meals we had were of the very highest standard...particularly the fine dining experience in The Byerturk restaurant, our meal was exceptional if not a tad pricey. Loved all the areas and rooms that you can relax in, with big fires and plenty to read.
Would have loved if there was a bigger area to walk around but being in between the 2 golf courses you are restricted to a small area around a small island. Specisl mention to Martin one of the transport drivers, lovely guy and very helpful. Will 100% be back☘️

I am not sure if they offer transport or tours of Dublin however The K Club offer many tours local to the hotel, from Kayaking and Cycling to Fishing, Wine and Whiskey tasting, Archery, Horse Riding and Historical Tours of the house. The K Club is about forty minutes from Dublin and there is a local bus stop close to the hotel costing Ten Euro for a return ticket. There is a tourist office in Dublin right beside the stop as you disembark from the bus and they run a myriad of Dublin Tours and also provide tickets for the hop on and hop off bus tour of Dublin. A taxi will cost you around sixty euro from the Hotel to the city Centre. I hope this is helpful.
