Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a great Golden years 3 night brake at the Silver Tassie hotel. The accommodation, food both breakfast and bar were excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We found the hotel very good base for touring.

A very welcoming hotel . There are lounges, conservatory and outside sitting areas and lots of free parking. The bar serves a good variety of great food, with very generous portions. The cooked breakfast menu also offers a good choice with large portions and is served. The only part of breakfast that doesn't reflect the same standard is the buffet, with no fresh fruit, limited breads and no cooked meats or cheeses on offer. The serving staff (especially the breakfast servers) are excellent and always make time to chat and offer options, which was really appreciated as my husband is celiac . Now comes the more difficult section of the review, the bedrooms. Our room was overlooking a flat roof and a nearby wall had all the hotel's extractor fans which were very noisy . These started very early in the morning and went on until approximately 11:00pm. As the room had no air conditioning we had to keep the windows open which just increased the noise levels. While the room was clean it was very dated and in need of an update. The bed could also do with being replaced. The bathroom was spacious with a full-sized bath. However the bath panel was very shabby and there was mould around the base of the shower screen. Every time the toilet was flushed it made a lot of noise (not a macerator) . While the water was hot and plentiful, once again the bath taps were noisy when used. One nice touch in the bedroom was a DVD player with a DVD library in reception . I would certainly visit the hotel again to eat, but not sure I'd want to stay again

We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean. My husband and I enjoyed drinks in both the vaulted-ceiling lobby and in the pretty atrium, which were both relaxed and inviting environments. There was a DVD library to borrow from and watch, which was fun. No air conditioning but we brought small fans with us so it was fine. The hotel is right by a busy highway, which makes any outdoor seating too loud to enjoy, but it's certainly a great location just outside of Letterkenny and a good base to explore County Donegal.

Lovely hotel a few miles north of Letterkenny and perfect for driving up to Fanad each day of our holiday. The staff are all very pleasant and welcoming and the breakfasts are gorgeous. We'll definitely stay at the Silver Tassie next time we go over to Donegal.

We recently attended a family wedding in this fabulous hotel. Having eaten here several times in the past this was the first time we actually stayed overnight as we reside in County Donegal and would generally travel home. Booking was very easy- I booked by phone and our request to be near reception was granted. From the moment we entered the lobby we were attended to by polite, efficient and friendly staff. Our room was spotless with all facilities you could think of or require- fluffy towels, facecloths and toiletries in the bathroom, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, table and chairs, plenty of wardrobe space, comfortable bed and windows that opened. The food and service at the wedding were second to none. The function room was tastefully decorated, the staff were amazing and the food was delicious and hot too! We had a great day and night. Breakfast was very tasty- a good choice with hot plate served to the table. Everything about this hotel is just fantastic. Many thanks for a wonderful stay. We will be back! And we will recommend to all our friends and relations!!

From the initial phone call to book until we checked out, our stay was so enjoyable. Having a family member with reduced mobility the staff tried to accommodate us at every opportunity. All staff members were so friendly and attentive though not over whelming. I could not praise them enough. The hotel was clean, warm and comfortable. Food was very tasty, good variety on the bar food menu. Breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend the hotel, even for a meal if passing.

From start to finish what a wonderful experience, everyone was so friendly and we would like to mention the young lad in the restaurant who took our order for meals drinks etc. this lad could not do enough to make sure we had everything our heart desired, nothing was too much trouble he went above and beyond. As a disabled person we were given a room with a wet room for the disabled raised toilet etc and there was another bathroom for able bodied, towels, face cloths, soap and beautiful shampoo and body wash were supplied. The room contained a double and single bed, tea facilities and biscuits and that wonderful lad delivered biscuits to our room with extra milk. The Silver Tassie is spotlessly clean and has a beautiful glass conservatory which is very atmospheric and gorgeous when lit up at night we would 100% go back again. We have been around most of the Wild Atlantic Way and this was our best experience ever ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really enjoyed my visit to the Silver Tassie Hotel recently. It has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere about the place. The staff are fantastic and the room was lovely. Had a bite to eat in the evening. The Alabama burger is highly recommended, and the Guinness is wonderful 👌 Thanks all. See you again soon.
