I'll start with the good bits. We arrived to this B&B at around 3 in the afternoon and the welcome was nice as we were shown to our room. We were provided with suggestions on where to go for dinner and other attractions we might want to visit. This was useful. Breakfast was also good, with large choice of foods to choose from. Bathroom clean and shower nice and powerful. Bedroom a nice size as well. Views from separate living area and dining room were lovely, looking out into the valley below. Internet speed was also fast. Now the not so good bits. Decor is quite outdated and you can hear quite a lot of noise upstairs from people walking around. Bearing in mind other people seem to have commented on this and mentioned it to the owners you would think they would have done something to ensure they kept the noise down, but this doesn't seem to have happened which was quite disappointing. As a result I had a dodgy first night's sleep but a better second night's after speaking to Michael the owner (who seemed to suggest they always kept it quiet upstairs - they didn't that first night!). Lastly, the final road to the property is in an awful state. It is by far the worst Irish road we have come across (we are nearing the end of our 3 week road trip around the island). I'm very surprised B&B owners and other residents in the local area have not got this sorted as most other Irish roads are in such good condition. Deep pot holes everywhere and if you don't avoid these, you could seriously damage the underside of your car. So be wary if you are thinking of bringing a car which is low to the ground. We would have chosen a different B&B if we knew of the state of the road. If you want cheap accommodation placed outside of Letterkenny though, you could do worse.

The room has a nice size and is very comfortable to be in. The bed is comfortable and the en-suite bathroom is clean and has a good size (and a window!). The owners were very nice and welcoming and the breakfast (full Irish breakfast!) was very good.

On arrival, we were greeted with a lovely cuppa & home made cake. Our room was a good size, very nice, clean & comfortable. The breakfast room has a lovely view out across the valley towards the highway - breakfast was very generous, very enjoyable & cooked well. Thank you for a very relaxing stay.

First off - this B&B is EXCELLENT value for money - about €56. So keep that in mind when reading onwards (most other properties along our trip were €70 approx). We spent a night at Larkfield B&B after a massive day on the road (Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede, Downhill Demesne, and a drive around Malin Head). We didn't arrive till about 7 pm and were warmly welcomed by Philomena with a pot of tea and some home-made soda bread and jam which we enjoyed in the guest sitting room. She happily allowed us to warm through a Chinese meal and eat it in the guest dining/breakfast room - which we certainly appreciated as we didn't want to head out again. We had the route marked on Google Maps and had no problems finding them between that and the signs pointing the way to the property - but could be a bit harder to find in the dark. Hot water and shower pressure excellent in the private bathroom allocated to our room. This is what we would call a traditional B&B - a family home that has been re-tasked as a business - a lot of effort has been put into providing a guest sitting room and breakfast room and the bedrooms and bathroom were spotlessly clean - but you will still feel a strong family home presence due to the photos etc. We were exhausted and slept quite well - but you will hear movement from the owners in the floor above the guestrooms. It's by no means just something we encountered at Larkfield, but several B&Bs along our trip have taken to leaving a bottle of inexpensive shower gel in the bathroom as "toiletries". In this case there was a inch or so of gel left which just seems a bit "domestic" - no problems in your own home, with your own gel which you're happy to use up - but detracts a bit from a "paid for" accommodation experience. Just something that could be improved easily at little cost - even if some little bottles are bought and the gel is decanted into them so guests have their own toiletries. Breakfast was EXCELLENT - we enjoyed the continental options available (fruit, yoghurt, cereal, juice) and then had a lovely cooked Irish breakfast. Fresh scones and jam also. Breakfast also gave us the opportunity to take in the views from the guest breakfast room. We met Philomena's husband Michael and had excellent chats with them both as we were checking out. A very good B&B for a night's stop before continuing your touring. Once more, even with the little points above (which may not bother everyone) - a very good option for the price we paid.

Larkfield B&B was a great place to stay in Letterkenny. It was clean and cozy, warm and inviting. Our hosts, Philomena and Michael, were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The breakfast was delicious. We really enjoyed the drop scones and pancakes! We would highly recommend staying at Larkfield B&B.

Never having used an Irish let alone many B&Bs we were not sure what to expect. We were greeted at the door and shown our room which had a n ensuite (small) and view of the garden but it was not overly large (something common to many B&Bs we have subsequently found. A guest lounge area was a bonus (wifi reception much better there).Larkfield is on the edge of town so a drive into Letterkenny was required for dinner. Access was rough as street appeared to be under reconstruction. Good breakfast

We sleep 1 night in this B&B on oir way from Nord Ireland to Connemara NP, a little bit hard to find, we had Garmin but had problems, finally find it at the end of the street right uphill. 5 minutes to Letterkenny. Irish breakfast, very clean, friendly owner. We will stay again.

I agree with Evacee, this accommodation was in a nice quite setting and Mike and Philomena were the perfect hosts. They were very helpful with directions for area sights to see and made us feel right at home. I would stay again in the event I get to come back to Ireland in the future. Thanks!

We stayed at this accommodation September weekend 2013 .......absolutely no problems at all . I'm sorry Mr Anthony B but your review is a bit unfair and out of order .......in my opinion the hosts were lovley , naturally very busy but fair, charming ,delightful and non intrusive . The accommodation was quiet , peaceful we had a great time . Our bathroom was massive and we had no issue with the shower (not a power shower) but the pressure was fine and not as you've described ...pleanty of hot water , no problems what so ever . Breakfast was great and we got a Home made scone and jam every morning ! . Wonderful hosts and thank you again Xxx
