Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you enjoy characterful rooms, period features and the personal touch, then look no further than Castle Grove. Set in stunning grounds with views of Lough Swilly and far from the madding crowd, peace and tranquility abounds at this charming property, with roaring log fires to relax by in the winter months. The bedrooms are large and beautifully decorated with very comfortable beds and well appointed bathrooms. As for the staff, they are so kind and nothing is too much trouble, making us feel totally pampered. Dining here is a delight, from the made to order breakfast to evening meal served in the sumptuous dining room. All the food is delicious and locally sourced with yummy roast vegetables from their own walled garden. Many thanks to all the hard working staff for making our stay so special. We stayed for 3 nights in November 23 with my elderly father and also in June 23, highly recommended in both summer and winter, just delightful.

Just wow!! We stayed here for a week and couldn’t have been more spoiled. The room (Oliver Goldsmith) was very spacious, the bed and pillows very comfortable. Slept really well. Breakfast which is included was fantastic. Food for dinner which is mainly locally sourced was divine. A wonderful menu to choose from. Highly recommend the pate for starters. The staff were amazing. Over and above with customer service and made us feel at home. At the end of the day coming back to the fireplace in the drawing room was special. As with most experiences, it’s the people you meet so thanks once again to the beautiful staff of Castle Grove

Castlegrove is a delightful place to stay. Very clean, comfortable and sitting in front of the drawing room log fire with a G&T is just heaven. The meals were excellent and were only surpassed by the attentive but not intrusive staff. I can not speak highly enough of the charming and efficient staff, all we met were welcoming friendly and helpful. Was there with a friend and will return with my husband at a later date.

I had the good fortune to spend three nights at this rambling, Irish country estate, with my brother and sister-in-law, we were given a hearty welcome by Eoin, and prior to going to dinner, which had been delayed to accommodate us, we each had a well needed gin and tonic, this certainly set the tone for our three night stay Which was both gracious and welcoming. The beds were comfortable, and the food, first class and both presentation and taste

The house itself is 300 years old…but it’s comfortable, fashionable and has lovely flowers everywhere. Excellent food for both dinner and breakfast. Lovely cocktails and wine. Warm and professional hospitality. Top marks all around. We’ll be back!

We were disappointed to get an email the day before we arrived saying the restaurant was not open for our stay but the way they handled this on our arrival was really great. Jacqyelihe sorted us an upgrade and a reduction in price as well as taxis to a restaurant in Letterkenny. This meant we were not massively out of pocket for having to eat elsewhere. Thank you. The hotel us grand and although there us a hint of faded grandeur the decor and rooms are charming. Jacqueline could not apologise enough about the restaurant but promised a great breakfast and she was nit wrong! Delicious granola and fruit and a full Irish set us up perfectly for the day. A lovely stay which was perfect after 5 nights in our campervan. Shame about the restaurant as I was looking forward to the food but still most impressed.
